Hey everyone! Tell your old buddies you watched wrestling with as a kid about this channel and they'll go through these videos like airport security goes through Shawn's fanny pack!
Yeah, I've been a sub for years (2019) but I've been binge watching RTW for weeks now, lol I know, I shouldn't have opened the fanny pack but now I can't stop, it feels too good lmao
I’m enjoying the “Man called Meng” and “Menger” references. Never fails to make me smile along with the greatness that is Alex Wright and Disco Inferno.
I use "the man called Meng" as part of my vetting process when new people come around. If you don't react 0 points against, if you ask me "what does that mean?" -100 points
Never thought I’d say this, but Disco Inferno and Alex Wright are like the New Jack of Reliving the War, because their music always plays throughout the entire match.
Hogan doing the Diamond Cutter is pretty funny. Hollywood Hogan Cutter into a laid back poser pin and playing air guitar would have been something different for the Hulkster.
Curt Hennig didn't have that many great matches in WCW and even he and Bret Hart couldn't re-capture their old magic when they fought in early 1998. However, this bout with Flair is legitimately really solid and I like the fact he won without interference, even as a heel. I also quite enjoy his upcoming match with DDP at Starcade.
I liked Alex Wright and Disco Inferno, goofy gimmicks but once the bell rang they knew exactly how to entertain and wrestle. Don't know what Wright got into after WCW, but hope he's somewhere happy
Another awesome upload from the greatest wrestling channel on the planet! This was WCWs yearly equivalent to the Royal Rumble. The WW3 match, was such a clusterfuck, no one could keep up and there was no real stand out moments in the match, in the few years that they did host the PPV. Where as the Rumble was always entertaining. This was just a mess. Perhaps it was one of those match ideas which looked better on paper.
Speaking as someone who never had access to WCW growing up (outside the US), PPV's like World War 3 seemed so intriguing from afar. Apparently I wasn't actually missing much!
WCW's WW3 matches really suffered from the technology available at the time. They would have been so much easier to watch in the HD or 4K 16:9 widescreen of today. Three rings is just too much to fit into the SD 4:3 of 1997. A great idea and it would have been awesome for the crowd in the arena but yeah didn't translate well to TV.
I remember when I was watching through the Nitro episodes on WWE Network, at the time, they didn't have any Thunder or Saturday Night episodes at the time, but whenever I reached a point when an episode of Clash of the Champions, or a WCW PPV happened, I'll watch those. Always dreaded every time World War 3 event was coming up, because like you pointed out, very difficult to follow until they move the action to one ring. Hats off to you, did as good of a job recapping this as anyone could. Thank you.
I never knew the continuity behind Scotty wearing the eye patch because I always thought it was a Snake Plisskin gimmick. I watched WCW around this time but I was also 10 so my short term memory was in full effect 😂😂😂
I was at this show I was 13 years old. What a time to be alive ! WCW could do no wrong at this point. WWF was great as well every time they came to the Joe it was special. 80s wrestling was huge but cable television changed the game. The business never felt hotter.
Me and my buddies were just talking about this last night, we went to it. And earlier in the day, we went to the Lions game vs the Colts. Then we went to WCW Nitro in Saginaw. Two awesome days!
It's amazing to me that The WWF and WCW had historical ppvs within a month of each other. The WWF had Survivor series 1997 and WCW had Starrcade 1997. Man, two of the most important ppvs ever tbh.
AEW blood n guts in Detroit the other week had me thinking a lot about this show. I was upset I didn't get to go as a kid. "There's more than one ring!!"
Great to watch these videos and remember my father's constant " Wooooo!'s " that made me and my friends laugh when I was a kid watching these shows live. Thank you sir for your efforts. They've given me a piece of my childhood.
I am always grateful for the consistently great work being done here as we continue our march through these PPVs and Monday night recaps. It's like a time machine but better.
i was definitely the one who was switching between WWE and WCW, its so good to see these videos it brings back so many fond memories for me. My Tio Eddie and i used to watch both and the great memories from these matches is amazing great videos keep it up
I convinced my Dad to buy this PPV for me. I stayed home from school for it and everything. 10/10 would recommend. The thing I always loved the most about this was the way they would have matches in one ring and then not light the rest of the rings. There was something so serene about seeing those other two rings in the 'ambient darkness'.
I’m having a lazy day avoiding the sun, perfect timing wrestlingbios ! Never stop what your doing ❤️❤️ Just wish the heart foundation had more time together to see the dx feuds progress.. I wa gutted when Brett left 😢
I remember this WW3 like it was last week! I was all about Raven & his flock at this point in time. WCW was my main wrestling go to back in these days.
I've always said that if I were to be a wrestler I'd use Rick Steiner's high power slam as a staple move like he did. It's just a gorgeous, high impact move.
Starcade, or How to ruin getting one of the Biggest stars after the most controversial moment of wrestling of all time. As always the answer is Hogan. Bret deserved better.
I've been watching since the beginning the best wrestling content there is today beats today's raw and smackdowns out of the park. Keep up the great work
WWE could pull off a world war 3 event, RAW smackdown NXT when it was black and gold. Since they have the Royal rumble, they won't do ww3. AEW should do it if they had the rights, but the Royal rampage was like the rumble and battlebowl together.
Go back to the beginning of this series, and it was just a basic move by move review. You get about 40 episodes in, and you start getting a bit more personality. I'm going to assume that's about when Jay Hunter started getting in your ear, telling you to let loose a bit. I watched every week, but after that point, man, the humor thrown in has made this must watch. Have about 10 channels that I watch every upload from, and this is one of them of about 1000 I'm subbed to. Just glad I know I have about four more years of this to look forward to
When “sting” came from the rafters, The Palace felt like it was going to crumble. If I recall, I think Nash is from Detroit, so this was a nice little homecoming treat
Didn't hear a word you said about/during disco vs Saturn, as I was too busy shaking my @$$ to Disco Fever!!! Playing his theme.the entire match breakdown combined with your Disco Inferno intro clip is my favourite thing in the world!!!
Hey Bios! WSI (Wrestling Shoot Interviews channel) is doing a shoot soon with none other than Alex Wright! He’s currently taking potential questions to ask Alex from fans here on yt and the outpouring of Wrestling Bios related questions in response is pretty substantial in the comments. You’ve definitely made it when people want to hear Alex’s comments about you on another channel. Don’t know how you’d do it but a team up between the best wrestling biographer and shoot interviewer on yt would be epic!
3 buddies and me were in 3rd row middle ring for this ppv, the three ring battle royal was impossible to keep track of, it was so crazy. But we still threw our drinks at the NWO at the end. Cheers WB thanks for the post.
I don't remember much from this show outside of Scott hall winning ww3 battle royal the Ric flair vs curt henning match and the faces of fear vs glacier and Ernest Miller everything else seems pretty forgettable to me
Since I watched this PPV in 1997, I've maintained that Goldberg technically lost the match to Mongo via forfeit, thus ending his undefeated streak before it even reached double digits.
When i was a teenager I'm a big fan of world war 3 ppv because of 3 rings concept with so many wrestlers in the ring at the same time compare to wwe rumble.
Everything Eddie Guerrero ever did was entertaining. The best was his WWE “ cheat to win”stuff, but he was always great. We lost a legend when he died.
When Bret gets to WCW, there has to be a “Jam Meter”.
On one side will be El Dandy, the other is Glacier.
Oh hrll yeah
Hell yeah
@@michaelkeller5927 Gotta have the singer of Ram Jam on the one side.. or Randy the ram from 'The wrestler'. His finisher was the Ram Jam
We need to take a poll on the Bret’s Jam Meter lol
Hey everyone! Tell your old buddies you watched wrestling with as a kid about this channel and they'll go through these videos like airport security goes through Shawn's fanny pack!
True
Yeah, I've been a sub for years (2019) but I've been binge watching RTW for weeks now, lol
I know, I shouldn't have opened the fanny pack but now I can't stop, it feels too good lmao
It's great to have Disco's theme play throughout the recap of his match.
And Alex Wright's theme Das Wonderkind
I marked out a little when that theme played.
Love Disco's music.
I’m enjoying the “Man called Meng” and “Menger” references. Never fails to make me smile along with the greatness that is Alex Wright and Disco Inferno.
Alex Wright is the greatest to ever do it. Jealousy is the only reason he wasnt world champion. Hogan only wishes he could move like that. Lol
I use "the man called Meng" as part of my vetting process when new people come around.
If you don't react 0 points against, if you ask me "what does that mean?" -100 points
It's Steng!!!
Biker miker likers...
The Meng Called Steng should team up with A Real Meng's Meng and Mini Meng.
They would be called Two and a Half Meng.
Never thought I’d say this, but Disco Inferno and Alex Wright are like the New Jack of Reliving the War, because their music always plays throughout the entire match.
😂😂🤣
I never watched WCW, always WWF. I'm really grateful you put these shows on.
When he gets to 1999 and 2000 wcw you'll see some big WCW Blunders
Yea, I loved WWF myself, but WCW did have some super kool moments. They both held their own TBH equally, can't put one over the other TBH.
Same here, kinda wish I hadn’t missed out on the Macho Man/ DDP feud now.
@@Benjatron-jw2rg I realized that myself, but it was Kool back then as well.....
I actually went to this event with my dad. My first ever live wrestling show. Was a lot of fun.
*Awesome!*
Must’ve been crazy with the three rings.
And extremely hard to follow during the battle Royal.
😂 as big a favor I NEED a compilation of these Alex Wright openings too funny. He always underrated in my book.
Absolut
🤣 Yeah I agree
Alex was great. WCW should have promoted him more instead of spending thier time promoting the mid carders and has beens that made up the NWO.
I was in 10th grade and my friends went to this PPV but I declined the invitation. I could have seen Glacier in-person. Talk about regrets.
That moment when you discover nobody has more Jam than the mastermind who brings us our steady doses of nostalgia💯🔥🔥
I laugh my head off every time you say “smack head “ Kidman 🤣
Hogan doing the Diamond Cutter is pretty funny.
Hollywood Hogan Cutter into a laid back poser pin and playing air guitar would have been something different for the Hulkster.
Raven has always been one of my favorites from ECW and WCW. I feel like they did a good job with his story
Thanks Michael
@@eastsidereviews727 lol
Your love for "The Bionic Bratwurst" Alex Wright is amazing.
That intro remix of Rey's WCW music is straight fire
Curt Hennig didn't have that many great matches in WCW and even he and Bret Hart couldn't re-capture their old magic when they fought in early 1998. However, this bout with Flair is legitimately really solid and I like the fact he won without interference, even as a heel. I also quite enjoy his upcoming match with DDP at Starcade.
The opening reminded me just how awesome Rey Misterio Jr's theme was back in the day!
Like Sephiroth but just a dreaded build with no pay off. Ya know you're dead...you just don't know when
I liked Alex Wright and Disco Inferno, goofy gimmicks but once the bell rang they knew exactly how to entertain and wrestle. Don't know what Wright got into after WCW, but hope he's somewhere happy
Think he owns a school in Germany to train wrestlers.
@@KoolKumasi I hope he's teaching them how to dance

Saturn was a beast ... he looked like a badass and had a awesome moveset that looked believable
Speaking as someone who never had access to WCW growing up (outside the US), PPV's like World War 3 seemed so intriguing from afar. Apparently I wasn't actually missing much!
Missed nothing lol.
You saw everything you needed to see lol 😆
AEW's version (with two rings) is probably as far as you can believably take it. Even then its hard to follow.
Kevin Nash pretending to be stung is still one of the funniest things ever.
Fans; Wow Sting is now 7 feet
Not
Your treatment of Glacier just never gets old

It’s a shame Perry Saturn kind of became apathetic towards wrestling. He really had the tools to be a potential star.
*looks up apathetic*

Barry ran wild on the Colts in that game!
Ahhh it’s Sunday. Time for Wrestling Bios to make the day perfect before work. Thanks for all the time and effort these videos take you jam up guy.
Alex Wright was teaching big boots today at his wrestling school. So underated.
It's amazing to me that The WWF and WCW had historical ppvs within a month of each other. The WWF had Survivor series 1997 and WCW had Starrcade 1997. Man, two of the most important ppvs ever tbh.
I get more excited to watch you recap old ppv's than I do for a Premium Live Event.
Man over the years, Jimmy Hart took some amazing bumps. I grew up watching him and can always remember him flying off the side of the ring
He wrestled a lot of matches in Memphis.
Let's get this party started Like Saturday Wright Fever!!

Yes, my favorite part of Sunday has arrived! That includes being off of work.
I was always a fan of Disco Inferno and his entrance but damn Wrestling Bios just made a great entrance EPIC!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣thanks mate👍🏽

Starrcade 1997 is definitely the beginning of the end

Smackhead took me out 😂😂😂. Where I’m from we use that term so it was hilarious to see it used by someone in another country. Love this channel.
I was there & the pop for "Sting" was insane. I'm a Hogan guy so this was upsetting lolol.
wish it was Sunday everyday, love these
Another Sunday and another great Wrestling Bios upload, truly you are the Jam Master brother!!
Perfect Sunday night viewing!
Curse you! I just watched J.D. Drake put a chin lock on Dante Martin, and I smiled and instinctively said to myself "Shades of Davey Boy Smith" 🤣
I can't wait for another 5 years when wrestling bios covers the current vince mcmahon scandal
I remember this WW3 like it was last week! I was all about Raven & his flock at this point in time. WCW was my main wrestling go to back in these days.
When the Flock first started up around this time,I figured they were gonna amount to way more than they did. a change from the NWO show.
Smackhead Kidman gets me every time 😂😂
I thought yesterday was Sunday and kept checking for this upload till I realized it was Saturday lol. Now I'm finally having a good weekend!
It's crazy how they had room for an entrance way and three rings

Love seeing the Disco Inferno entrance split with some SNF clips
This channel of yours has me being a DISCO FEVER...I love it
Wcw had the best arena sets, and the ring alway sounded good. Can’t believe they went out of Biz

The bar has been so low since the Network was formed. At least AEW exists.
Dude, when Disco and Alex Wright become a team in '98, I can't to see what you do with that. 😂🤣
Surely a mega powers parody. 🤞
love remembering the past and is the best way of killing cardio love the video bro

WWE could pull off a world war 3 event, RAW smackdown NXT when it was black and gold. Since they have the Royal rumble, they won't do ww3. AEW should do it if they had the rights, but the Royal rampage was like the rumble and battlebowl together.
I remember watching this ppv with one of those old boxes that unscramble ppvs for free and still feeling like I'm the one who got ripped off
I always thought the idea of World War 3 was very interesting just because of how chaotic the idea was.
I think I remember that Flair would always wear the red when he was booked to lose big matches, in any promotion.
Your ppv reviews are awesome

We need a wrestling bios video on Alex Wright, with as much dancing footage as possible.
Since I watched this PPV in 1997, I've maintained that Goldberg technically lost the match to Mongo via forfeit, thus ending his undefeated streak before it even reached double digits.
You maintaining something doesn’t make it true so this is a dumb comment.
i was surprised they didn't double count out
The king of wrestling programming on RUclips bar none.
It’s always a great day when you upload.
