    I just realized that the cruiserweights were some real workhorses of wcw. Watching old matches has never been more enjoyable.

    • @martynodonnell
      @martynodonnell Год назад +39

      The cruisers were most definitely the backbone of WCW. The show would open up every week with an exciting match or two from them. Their style was very unique for the American audience at the time. Once the radicals went to WWF it was a final nail in the coffin for WCW. The issue they had in WCW was they had no where to go and couldn’t climb the ladder. The cruisers and undercard of WCW were having awesome matches week in week out. However it was mostly against the same opponents. As the over the hill wrestlers and the NWO wouldn’t give up their spot to help get newer and fresher talent over.

    The writing was on the wall so early on with WCW. They had no idea what to do with Goldberg, so they threw him in a match he had no business in. In addition, they chose to highlight a match in the main event that had ZERO long term implications just so they could get some short term benefits with Leno. With that top rope move alone, Jimmy Hart has already shown more actual athleticism than Kevin Nash ever has. 😂
    Saturn, Raven, and Kanyon was a pretty good match. The Even Flow only hitting one of the competitors was kinda excellent.

    I was at all of these, we helped Jay Leno's limo driver and he gave us back stage passes. Got to meet Kevin Nash, big show and Conan. I grew up in rapid city which is about 25 mins from Sturgis.

    Great video today. This is the perfect form of Reliving the War.
    I believe the thousands of Biker Miker Likers would agree.
    Side note of Jay Leno, he has always been a huge fan of cars and bikes (see his garage), so it was possibly to set it up this way for his love of bikes see

    This may not be the best overall PPV but I always enjoyed it I was 10 years old in 1998 I even had this show on VHS and watched it so much the tape eventually broke keep up the great work with this series I have been watching faithfully since your channel was recommended to me by YT about 2 years ago

    I always looked at Road Wild like those WWE shows over in the UK, or how Crown Jewel is today. They're non-canon, just here because an advertiser or someone threw a lot of money at the company. In this case, Valvoline, and hey, we got another five star Mongo match out of it 😂
