    Something you didn't mention about the Saturn vs Booker match, if the rumors are to be believed, Martel was supposed to win and face Saturn. But since the planned match was changed to Saturn vs Booker, that would mean both men would have had to call the entire match in the ring with no plan beforehand.
    That makes this match even more impressive since they pulled off a damn good bout, especially if it was called on the fly.

      That’s the way the entire business used to be. There was very, very little “planning out” a match. The booker/promoter would tell the wrestlers who was going over, and it was up to them to construct the match in the ring. Saturn and Booker broke into the business when it was still this way, so they had the training and background to handle it.

Maybe from a kayfabe sense Macho Man still considered himself a part of the nWo because his issues were with Hogan and not the group as a whole? He may have been sick of Hogan but he was still "4-life" i guess. At least that's how i've tried to understand why he's still part of the group anyway.
    Keep up the awesomeness. Every video on this channel has The Jam and i've been watching since before Reliving the War started. Your dedication, unbiasedness and sense of humour have kept me here as well as for the wrestling nostalgia kick. I'll plan on buying a t-shirt or two soon.

    I think at this point, Bulldog, Luger and very likely Savage were starting to come out of their prime.
    Booker really showed up against Martel and Saturn. Two matches in a row, one with an injured opponent and the other on the fly shows tremendous talent.
    Always loved the slow burn Scott Steiner turn. We get NWO Steiner with Bagwell as his goon which seems so much fun!
    The Savage/Hogan infighting stuff seems so dull. Seems to get better when Nash becomes involved hopefully…

  • @EVGriffinJr
    @EVGriffinJr Год назад +1

    And on the Booker T. versus Saturn match what makes that match even more impressive is the fact they had to call it on the fly as the original plan was Rick Martel versus Perry Saturn!

      @cjvaye99 Год назад +3

      he did get a world title match against Sting. I forget the PPV name but it think it was the one after this. I know sting defended the belt against DDP and Nash on nitro and Hall and Savage on PPV. he'd lose it to Savage at spring stampede who then immediately lost it to Hogan. that was it for sting. pathetic on WCW's part. nearly two years building him as their guy finally wins the belt and drops it in 2 months. smdh

    note for the 20:00 point - why is Macho Man in NWO ? I think it was something like join the NWO or not get rehired after Halloween Havoc 1996 PPV. Macho's involvement DID go on for a long time. Eventually Macho had the cage match with Hogan, and then Macho tore his knee in the process of winning the title at another PPV so he was booked to lose the title the very next night on Nitro to Hogan. I heard that in Randy's contract, he would only lose a title to Flair or Hogan and that was pretty much how he did business. Being allied with NWO for so long kept him from being squashed every week, and over the long term, led to the Mega Powers exploding again during their PPV and Nitro tag matches.
