Arthas didn't cull Stratholme out of a thirst for blood but in order to prevent it by killing the citizens before they turned into ghouls and killed more people than just each other.
For as endlessly wise the Light is, it could not see this.

When Maraad said "I will be the first to answer the call" I could HEAR his voice breaking, that made my heart ache.
I legit teared up during Maraad's performance. "And the light... that I promised... would be with them... had forsaken them instead... just as I had." Gripping stuff. You can really feel the heartbreak in his voice, as the actor delivers those lines.

I'm a Horde for life, but goddamn I feel sorry for Maraad. I almost feel like I want to play as a Draenei Paladin just because of him inspiring me. Good job Blizzard.

+Nocturus Maraad was actually the reason I made my male draenei paladin. Aside from my Night Elf rogue, he's my favorite one to play. Maraad story is tragic, but I really fell in love with his character.

I really like how Maraad is portrayed here. Not a paragon, not a shining symbol of hope, but as a mere mortal being. One who falls prey to his own emotions. Makes him seem that much more alive.

Man they could be some great shows or stories, may we pay up the butt, good ol classic durotan...we are orcs, we dont have to kill them, we can live in harmony type...cuz legion cough cough...winter is coming...cough...over the wall...nah lets fight over this tiny bit of land for now! :D

If there's one thing I could change about the expansion it would be Maraad's death. I love his character so much, possibly more than any other character in the expansion. I still have to fight back manly tears for my departed comrade when I re-watch this video. GOD DAMMIT BLIZZARD I WANT MARAAD BACK

I'd say this was the best part of Lords of War. Maraad is a really interesting character.
Well, I still think Grom is the most interesting one, he was basically Rambo, a bloodthirsty Orc who charged in to the fight, then was hung out on the sun for... A very long time, and managed to hold out for a very long time. Basically he's got an Iron Will.
Maraad is well... What I see of him a guilt-stricken paladin guy who decided to smash an orc's head rather than escort refugees... Actually that is a rather interesting story arch, but I just find willpower more amazing than guilt-strikes
I didn't expect this one. I like the route that they went with. I know little to nothing about Maraad. Definitely one of my favorites.
Disagree. For me the best part was about Grom. Next one was Kilrogg, then Bladefist. Story of Maraad, in my opinion, shouldn't be called "Lords of War". Anyway, there should be three more episodes, about Blackhand, Gul'Dan and Ner'zhul.
Well Maraad doesn't know who Blackhand, Ner'zhul or Gul'Dan are. I think that would make sense why they wouldn't include them in this series. Also this "Lords of War" which Maraad definitely falls into this category.

Seeing one of the peace-loving chosen of the Light go absolutely berserk on the orcs gives me chills! Don't f*ck with the Draenei!
I always prefered the Horde if it comes to the game (I also like to play certain Alliance races ^^ if we all would like the same it would be boring) but the Lore was always on the first place. At least for me.
Finally Blizz showed us properly what kind of horrors the Draenei have faced. Their story is interesting but the way it was told in WC3 or even in WoW felt bluntly and was quickly pushed aside with WotLK.
Personally I think that this race have suffered more than other races in Warcraft history. First being chased by their former bretheren the Eredar for countless years they finally found a place where they could stay and call home. In the end they lost nearly everything and the Draenei faced extinction but before that they have witnessed horrors and brutality which can be hardly described with words.
Unlike the humans they had nobody else they could have asked for help. It is truly a miracel that the Draenei still exist and try to play their part. And now they have a chance to change the past.
I am curious how much WoD will change the Lore.
Pretty much. They were a perfect addition to the Alliance from the very start. Similar ideals, similar means, similar past history of suffering and fighting Orcs and demons.
Nerzuhl and Blackhand should also get one. I mean Blackhand and Nerzuhl are two of the most important Orcs ever. And both are important in WoD.

Worst part was actually cut out of WOD, which was that Maraad’s wife, the original Yrel, also died during this, which is why his sacrifice to save Yrel was more heartwrenching in the original uncut WOD
Maraad is definetly on of the most badass characters in whole WoW Lore. Since I saw TBC trailer I was amazed by that Draenei Paladin and was always wondering if that Draenei was real WoW Character...Now I see.

Even to this day, I love Draenei peices like this. I wish there was more 'light' shined on the Space goats in this fashion.
Such a shame Blizzard killed Maraad off in WoD. His characterisation is wonderful here. It would have been nice to see him redeem himself and become a prominent hero of the Alliance moving forwards.

***** So, after all that happened, orc genocide should've happened, rather than them, I don't know, Medivh, the prophet, and human, telling them where to go and all? And, to be clear, Grom and the Warsong clan did the 'despoiling' of Ashenvale, angering the Sentinels, by themselves, Thrall beforehand telling him to be peaceful, which he disobeyed. The Horde, led by Thrall after Grom being more of an idiot than usual, had a small battle, but they weren't doing anything bad, just trying to see the oracle, and Jaina and her humans were the racist ones saying "no".

Before the lich king was my favourite character in world of warcraft, Maraad was my favourite just because for me Draenei look so cool.
Looking forward to the expansion. The Draenai are finally going to get a turn to shine. I'm really enjoying the Lords of War series it's nice to get some filler before it comes out. Remember this is not just a key moment for the Orcs this is also a key moment for the Draenai its not about who looks cooler....they're telling the story for BOTH sides!

I really like this chapter, because it's really cool and also teaches you alot about life. Maraad let himself be controlled by he's desire for Vengeance, Fear, Sadness, Hate, Pain and Sorrow. For that he forsake the people he love the most, making the big mistake of he's life, to be haunted forever. What you can learn from this is that, Don't let your Fears, Sadness and your Hate control you, don't Be Weak. Be Strong, Do Good, Fight for the right and don't fear to Fail, protect what you believe is right with all your Heart, don't be scared, do your Best so you don't have nothing to regret like Maraad, so you don't have a Burden to carry, because it's really hard and painfull to carry a burden, to regret something each day.. Believe me. So do your best, offer yourself Gladly to do the right thing, even if you don't want to, because in the end you will see that you did good and you protect what You believe is right =)
In the case where you take feedback from failing and not backing down while many around you are quick to remind you those bad mamories while hardly saying anything good whatsoever, what do you do ? I always follow my heart and instincts, the more i grow up the more stubborn i become. So i thank them in a way, turning their close minded behavior into motivation, improving my will.
Did not exactly expect to see Maraad's tale. I must say I am impressed and in awe of his reasons and desire to seek repentence.

Maraad, the best character of the expansion. Dead to Blackhand. Oh, how I enjoyed taking selfies on Blackhand's corpse. I remember seeing him on the big alliance zeppelin in Northrend. Dang it, Blizzard, you got me fighting back man-tears now.
Wait a minute, he said "Few of us ever get the opportunity to change it." But we're not going into the past, we're going into an alternate timeline Draenor: a different version.
And hes preventing that scenario in that timeline. He may not correct his own timeline but he prevents that misstake to be done by himself in that timeline.
at that time he doesn't know it's an alternate timeline... they might not even get to know, considering they're alliance.
Change it like in preventing thew bloodshed to happening again, witch may happen if the iron horde is not stopped
If you'r not altering the timeline the only thing that will happen is that the alternate Shattrath will be pillaged by Iron Horde Orcs not Demon infused ones. Not a real difference.
a different version that is going through the same shit as the original(but with out the Mannoroth's blood)... he still have a chance to redeem himself for his past *FAIL*.
the problem here is that Maraad can't forgive himself for what he did, but now he gets a chance to repeat it and actually not fail this time... this is more of a way for him to forgive himself... because pretty much the souls of the dead refuges already forgave him..
well his people did..... and he did travel to outland to try save all he can...the point is Maraad is trying to forgive himself and this is the perfect way to do it, if his people from this Alt.time line lived it would be the same as if the originals lived...(to him anyways)

mutegrab666 Well he was the Chieftain of the Blackrock Clan (which is the most numerous clan) before getting involved with the Shadow Council and becoming Warchief. So he must of been some sort of badass already, really puzzled as to why he didn't get a short (I understand Ner'zhul didn't cause it couldn't be valid for both universes probably)

RPGUzbekistan Blackhand was dumb muscle the Shadow Council could manipulate. A strong warrior the Horde could rally around, but who didn't actually make any of the decisions himself.
God damit i look forward to the WoD and these small videos which tells a little about the warlords and other main characters in WoD just makes me even more excited!

Im a horde player, I think it's time for alliance to have a nice little story. Kinda tired seeing all the horde drama. Especially since the horde and alliance aren't at war anymore after taking down garrosh. Nice to see them working together against Draenor.
Indeed. Nice to see them sort of patch some things and set aside differences to pursue common interests (even if the whole general foundation of the story has been the face-off between the two).

Holy hell, why did I enjoy this little series so much?
Amazing video, this is the first time I have actually felt horror about the corrupted Horde, Blizzard's stylisation has always had a semi cartoony feel which for me helps disassociate from the more intense themes. This video though really captured how terrifying the Corrupted Horde was, amazing, spine shivers and all that jazz.
they are not corrupted. they are pure orcs. even if they are pure they have same bloodlust and cruelty. This is your horde thet you have played for nearly 10 years.

Since Warcraft strategy game, I've always supported the Horde, although the most interesting and inspiring character is Velen. Amazing series, hope we can see more in the future, about all the lore, not just this period.

We need more orcs! Second expansion in a row about orcs: orcs in Pandaria, orcs in Durotar, orcs in Orgrimmar and orcs in raids. Now planet of orcs. Make horde happy, make Marad and king Varian both orcs too.
