Yeah the in-game story ruined everything, the scenery in those is really great and they could be really emotionally impactful if they had some sort of build up to them.

@@HappyroosterYT I think it's a bit of both. Plus, I think the real problem is they have too many writers so the story get's written more by committee than by one skilled writer.

    • @Servellion
      @Servellion 5 лет назад +20

@@HappyroosterYT I agree. Just saying awful storytelling is quite useless when you don't point it out. I wouldn't say awful more...predictable. I don't like being able to call twists like Sylvanas's sudden but inevitable betrayal of the Horde.
And while she's always been evil, they've gone overboard on making her evil, I guess for the sole purpose of squeezing out any and all player sympathy for her while just designating Saurfang the good guy because "muh honor".
And there were interesting aspects of both that could have been used. Sylvana's battlefield pragmatism vs Saurfang's sensibilities. this was touched on exactly once and it was never determined what Saurfang's alternative to use of the blight was outside of "Fight Really REALLY hard!"
I just pray that they do not sacrifice N'zoth upon the alter of patch 8.3 boss. We already killed one Old God this expac, we need to let N'zoth marinade until 9.3 at least.

The story of Varok is one of the saddest in the history of Warcraft. He started out wanting to die, but the trouble was he lacked something worth dying for. And, in the end, he found it. He challenged Sylvanas not because he thought he could beat her, but because he wanted to remind the Horde what it was capable of.

@@diodattebayo1557 Sry for my late reply. The one who died in this video is Saurfang. The one with black hairs behind him is Thrall. Did you watch Warcraft Movie? Do you remember the leader of Frost Wolf Clan called Durotan. Durotan died while fighting Gul'dan because Gul'dan cheated in Mak'Gora. Thrall is the son of Durotan and you could say he is the true hero of horde. Sry for my bad english.
Edit: Thrall is the one who said “...we don't get to hide" in the video.

Varok Saurfang's lines: "Let it be finished" - gained from being a Saurfang
"For Azeroth!" - gained from wielding Shalamane 2 seconds before dealing damage to a previously undamaged foe.
"FOR THE HORDE!" - gained by being an orc

While i had to stop playing last year, i still keep up on all the news and the cinematics. I cried for Varok and the horde, this was very emotional for me, having played this game for 12 years straight. When the Banshee Queen said "the Horde is nothing" and the guard looked at her like that, i knew it was over for her. She cares nothing for anyone, she is darkness and death only, not redemption. I miss Azeroth so much , this is more than a game its a massive story that weaves its magic into our lives. Someday when im in a place that i can return, i will. For now amazing work as usual Blizzard, you truly are the best in the genre. No other game can hold my heart and attention like World of Warcraft. Its been a truly amazing adventure.

This is the kind of work that makes a nerd like me weep HARD.. Thanks to everyone and anyone involved from lead designers to waterboys!
I lost my brother to cancer last year and we played Horde for the single reason of Varok Saurfang. My brother told me great tales of lore and how Saurfang was the one orc that not all alliance hated and feared that some saw him as a bridgebuilder between our forces. In level 60 I didnt understand much of all this..
As I grew I saw our Overlord do more for the Horde than most warchiefs had ever done. The pain and sacrifice this orc was put through and put himself through. For all of us!
When my brother died last year a part of me died with my brother.. He wanted peace and was ready for his warriors death even though I was not and will never be. All he wanted was peace.
I will never be the same person I once was - I am forever scarred and something was snatched from inside of me that I can never replace, a black hole here of sorts now..
When World of Warcraft lost High Overlord Varok Saurfang I felt the game never being the same either..
Even though I am not a person of faith for some reason I am convinced all of this is for the greater good. I see Saurfang (and in him my brother) as a key ingredient in making my future tales worth exploring I just dont know how yet.. It will make sense I am sure of it.. You simply dont pay the highest possible price you can to get nothing in return.. No! This is the beginning to something even greater..!
    I miss you brother. Forever!
    Until we meet again
    Lok'tar !
