I love the idea of the countertop machine significantly enhancing the taste of my coffee, cakes, and all recipes I use with milk.
This machine will be a hit in stores and homes. Great Deal!
The moment they took out the counter top model you could see Mark face went dead serious. I don't think the vending machine impressed him but the counter top model, he saw money in that.
I also felt like the entrepreneurs were only interested in Lorie and Mark. Lorie for her influence in the supermarket and Mark because he is dairy free and will be more passionate in pitching this to other potential investors.
That home version is definitely a seller. It's like the soda stream. Right now I'm using almond milk for my smoothie. Can't wait for that machine to be out in the market soon.

The countertop version is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more interesting as a commercial concept; I honestly don't see people going to the grocery store to refill milk bottles, but I do see Millennials and health conscious consumers having one of those in their house.
I feel like the countertop could help popularize their in store machine for those who can't afford it
@@Blaze6432 people want things at convenience. In the 50’s they had these delivered to their house (cows milk). Think about how dirty the machine can get with others touching it and being worried if the glass bottles were actually cleaned. The countertop in home version is the only way to go.
@@stevegoldstein3402 I'm not sure if you decided to use logic with your statement but here's a few issues:
1. Soda machines, water machines, ice machines, are worked less and are still thoroughly popular. So that argument went out the window.
2. Not everyone in society is impatient and lacks basic decency. It might be hard for you to process, but people aren't monolithic and there are some people who vary. There's already a growing market for sustainable and environmentally friendly shopping methods.

See the look in Mark's eyes.. He takes all other Sharks' questions and assessments, analyze them to see the future in the investment and then makes a fair deal compared to other sharks. So irresistible. I learn everytime I watch him make a deal.

I feel like Mark is more invested in the countertop version. He already had a plan in mind with distribution and pricing.
The problem is if you ever made almond milk from scratch there is still wastage. Those machines will produce a lot of waste. So someone will need to remove that frequently. There is a lot that wasn’t revealed
If there was a viable commercial table top machine working why not bring that as well?
@@essenceofgreatness7883 Isn't the table top one just meant for home usage? I'd imagine the waste would be a little more than like what you get when juicing, but prob just dump it into the compost or trash and wash/rinse the area you put the nuts in.
the big ones they prob just have a grocery store clerk clean it at the end of day. the difficulty is going to be servicing it when something goes wrong.

And last point...since when does a person need to be "intellectual" in order to be successful in business? Sometimes a successful business is just about understanding the fundamental basics. Are there finer nuances to be understood? Sure. But if you've got the basics down, you're well on your way. Some of the most successful mom and pop businesses are owned by regular joes, and many of them didn't even have a college degree. They just had grit, determination, hard work and some luck. Most millionaires in the US are small business owners.

Barbara sats "I feel like I'm in 2nd grade, you're talking too much." The business model isn't hard to understand if you've seen a soda machine that makes soda. A lot of supermarkets also have this but for juice. The only difference is that it's plant milk.

@@KenDotCom They arent yet profitable but they are at a 55 mil market value , they are taking pre orders for the home machine atm and that is most likely what is increasing the value in the company plus obv having Cuban as a investor and most likely alot of other high profile names makes the brand worth alot more.
You have to realise that sales and market value is totally diffrent and no each machine isnt worth 1 mil but they were not only about the machines.

The most amusing part of this episode is the fact that Mark's deal was incredibly smart. Because they would have to use up the whole 2 mil to make the deal worth it since if they use only 1, they give up 7% for 1 mil which is more equity for what they asked. And the second 1 mil loan also undercut Kevin's interest rate with 3% compared to 9.5% which is a great deal for them.
So this way Mark wins if they don't use the whole 2 mil and Mark also wins if they use the whole 2 mil. And they also win because they get to keep the same valuation of the company (although they give up more equity) and also pay lesser interest than the other deal in the room.
Amazing.
Btw they were worth 60 million dollars in 2021

To be fair to Barb (for once), a lot of these pitches actually go for 1-2 hours, and after editting, we only see 3-4 minutes. The business model part of the presentation could have probably gone for over an hour. If it was complex enough, that'd lead an investor to not want to invest. They need to be able to see a clear structure and vision, so the investor knows how they can help make a return, and some profit.

This actually seems like a good idea, the price of the bottles seems quite affordable when you consider how expensive almonds and other nuts are. I am assuming they are putting a reasonable amount of them in the milk if they are making it fresh. And I would totally be interested in the counter top version!
Yes i def agree with you!! Everything is expensive when it comes to healthier choices of consumables. Only 1% of farmland is Organic! That should speak volumes to the masses but it sadly does not. All the $ consumers save on not choosing organic will all come to (God willingly not) bite us in the butt later on in medical bills due to them being unhealthy!

Listen. If you want to make your own almond milk, you can do so with a blender. I recommend vitamix simply for the fact that their blades are made to specifically destroy anything you put in it. It's simple. Put your almonds in, put water in, blend and strain the material. You don't need any of this craziness.
I want the counter top version right now. If they had it ready I would literally just buy it at this moment. Thats the money maker. Also: very affordable for the store version as well; so many alternatives are $6-10 at whole foods.
Plus the grocery store "almond" or "oat" milk are filled with junk. This is made fresh contain no added junk like sunflower oil, chemicals and rat poison.
I saw another comment stating there’s another company called almond cow that does sell the countertop plantbased milk maker at home.
They are taking pre-orders now, supposed to ship this summer.

@_ I’m allergic to almonds so can’t have that one. I use whole milk to make Mac and cheese and sometimes lattes; but I cook and drink so many things that traditionally use milk that it is easier on the tummy to substitute about half of it with oat or coconut! Plus oat milk is thick and the most similar.

I'm a dairy lover and would choose real cow's milk versus plant-based any day even though I've become lactose intolerant as I got into my mid-30's. However, I'm not opposed to plant-based milk and don't mind it. I would definitely want to try this. I like almond milk but would've chosen to try the Numilk oatmilk personally, even though I've already tried oatmilk and liked it too.
I love it. I can't handle cow milk. So oat milk is just AWESOME.

Those prices are great actually. $2 for the bottle, $3.95 to fill it. Can reuse it. Fresh milk. It's awesome. I'd buy it in my store. Still wanting our store to get a fresh orange juice machine too.
No way does the price point stay there now that Covid has ravaged our inflation rates. You'd be lucky to fill a bottle for seven bucks by the time these machines are available in your local supermarket. Probably still a decent price, but the value of a dollar has just been destroyed these past two years.

It's not milk. Milk is a child rearing fluid produced only by mammals. Plants don't have mammary glands and don't make milk. It's just a protein drink, and calling it "milk" helps a consumer make a false association with something they are familiar with.

Yup. Kevin has the money to make big money deals like Mark, but he insists on structuring almost all of his offers around loans or royalties rather than just offering cash for equity. The smartest entrepreneurs are the ones who tell Kevin that it's counterproductive to lose money via a royalty rather than reinvesting all revenue into the business. And I love seeing Mark agree with the entrepreneurs when they say that to Kevin.

@@zacharias7284 Indeed. But keep in mind that Kevin's net worth is about $400 million and Mark's is $4,5 billion. Kevin's successs is based on royalties and loans while Mark does revenue into business, long term success. Kevin has the mindset of a banker and Mark is a real entrepreneur/grinder when it comes to business. But in the end of the day, neither Kevin or Mark does deals based on luck.
Mark Cuban did not "beat them up" at the end. He was just doing what he always does. That was an AWESOME deal, and there should have been NO hesitation WHATSOEVER on their part. They literally almost lost the deal. Glad they didn't .

I bought a household nut milk machine 4 years ago with $150, it’s still working well. I am surprised that this is a new thing in the US, this machine is available in Vietnam for at least 5 years.

I'm lactose intolerant, so I use oat milk in things! I'd love that counter top version, but heck, even being able to fill up a bottle of oat milk for $3.99 at the store sounds like a good deal to me! And I like that it seems very healthy. I hope that we'll be seeing this NuMilk stuff out on the market soon!

The guy in the white shirt was literally about to blow the whole situation. He was looking at everything in such a short sighted way. The deal they came in asking for, versus the deal that Mark ended up offering them, they should have both been ready to drop down and kiss the ground at work feet because without him and that deal their business could have gone belly up very quickly if they would have made just one or two fairly decent sized mistakes. It would've been such a mistake if they didn't end up taking marks deal.
They know going in that they were gonna get offers at a higher equity and they 100% planned for that already as he already said their previous investors gave them the thumbs up to give them a special shark deal so they were for sure ready to part with atleast 7-8% and at most maybe 10%.
Mark is just a smart buissnesman and he knew that going in so he squeezed them for what he could and they are currently worth 55 mil dollars so they all profited (They are however not yet profitable but the countertop version is currently in pre-sales so thats most likely the reason for their high market value)

I feel like some of the sharks really want to invest in these types of business with these types of valuations, it's just that they really can't afford it, unless it's a multi-shark deal. Except for mark.

@@Tyshkevich I think Mark’s cap is a lot higher than theirs. Remember, he has more $$$ than all their net worth combined. I wouldn’t factor in who they are - permitting access to capital. Because they poss already have other debt they are mnging from: existing biz’s, investments in portfolio, etc.

A lot of times there are offers that undervalue the business a bit but are worth accepting because of the added value you get from having someone like Mark backing your business.
But this wasn't one of those times. He made a very generous and fair offer. I was very surprised they didn't instantly accept, but they made the right decision in the end which is all that matters.

Having watched the UK Dragon’s Den, this show is so different! The music and sound effects are so loud and intense, the entrepreneurs have such animated/lively pitches and the way the Sharks ask questions, is so quick fire. It’s such a trippy experience 😂
