This episode is a clear example of a difference between a millionaire and a billionaire. Cuban is the boss
Let’s all get there and experince it
Totally agree

@@tritonh5683 Work really hard like those guys do, 18 hours per day for 10 years and you can make it.
@Gol Acheron Anyone can be successful financially if they put the work and time into it. Success doesn't just mean being a billionaire, in fact, being that rich comes with a whole new world of problems.
fun fact: a few weeks after this episode aired, Barbara made an appearance at one of their restaurants to tell them that she's out
😂😂
Cringe
Bro get out of town 🤣
Wow dude, another Barbara joke?! So original! These jokes are so cringe and overused.
😂😂😂 I can’t take it anymore good joke
Cupbop: we pulled $18M in sales just in a year
Barbara: ok I'll value your entire company at $3.3M 😂😂
I was about to post the same thing. So I support you! :)
And that's when they stopped listening to any offer she made, and it hurt lori's offer when she went in with her.
And they grossed 75% so they probably netted $3M at least. Barbara is effectively taking their entire company and paying them one year's profit for it.
How can this woman who has supposedly made so many millions of dollars be so totally ignorant. Amazing.
Her new way of saying she's out
LOL, Mark is always the one that stay silent until he strikes the perfect offer, and they all love Mark in the end, he's like the MVP of the show. We can basically call it Shark Mark.
Mark tank. Missed opportunity there bud 😂
@@LachieAussie I was thinking same😄
Lori and Barbara for 5% was wayyyy better tho. Barbara has so many food/restaurant brands AND FRIENDS who own food brands. Easy peasy national recognition

Update:
When Cupbop was pitched on Shark Tank, the company's annual revenues were $18 million from 15 stores. As of today, Cupbop's sales revenues are at $64 million from 49 stores. With help from Mark Cuban.
Thanks for the update
None in California though. Makes sense, competition for good Korean food is probably too tough for them to survive in Cali
They have lots of branches in Indonesia
Not all heros wear caps
Most stores have 1-3 stars, i couldnt even finish it. Everyone will try it once
The one time Barbara makes an offer: “So, you’ve got over $18mil in sales in the past 12 months, love you guys, love the food. I’ll give you $1mil for 30%”
IKR like what the hell was that terrible offer lmao
She did admit she wasn’t very bright
They should have dumped her from the show long ago

Yeah lol
Robert actually valued the company at 18.5 MN $. Fair I guess..in the end..Mark did the deal at 20 Mn $ valuation....

Ehh I did not really like it. The steak wasn't as good.
The first time I've heard someone ask for 1mil+, and manage to PROVE to the sharks that they're WAY more than worth that much. Amazing.
They have 200 stores oversees alone.
Honestly these guys made a great business model and they were smart about it.
I worked at one of the shops and it is pretty popular. The best part is that their business expenses are minimal. They make about 80% off of each bowl, which cost about 10-11 usd. So they are making bank!!
Most of the products they use are cheat and easy to get.
Unfortunately at our store they don't pay a lot. We rely on tips a lot.
@@Ghost7065 I mean, there you go.. It should be closer to fast food where they pay employees at minimum wage but they're just getting customers to cover the costs.
Pay attention to every time when Mark is the last to speak, he tells the entrepreneurs what he thinks they're looking for and then sells himself before making an offer. That way, the entrepreneurs know that they are on the same page, having the same vision, which makes it more likely for them to go with Mark. A very strategic and astute businessman.
Can we stand still by the fact that Robert was willing to offer 5 million for that company 🤯
His offers rarely go through anyways 😂
@@adrianzaldana2167 he’s second in the all time rankings, Cuban has had 80% of deals go thru to completion, Robert is at 77.5%

Same it's delicious! And it's pretty healthy. Cabbage, rice and they have grilled chicken. And the noodles are sweet potatoes. My only critique is that they need to work on consistency in every location. The one I went to was so slow but the food was really good. The closest one to me now is fast but quality control is lacking.
Barbra is offensively insane. Her offer would have left the founders with 10% each! Just think about how mental that offer is.
Did she know at the time she made the offer that they had 5 other investors and only 50% to play with? Or was that only revealed later when Mark started asking specific questions?
Not even that her offer valued the company at $3 million when they were making 18 million that year
She wasn’t serious about investing. That’s why she made a stupid offer cause she knows they won’t accept. She does this all the time just to look like she does make offers on the show
@@3xinarow990they aren’t making $18 million a year. That’s their sales not profit

I usually eat lunch at Cupbop as the store is near my workplace. Now, I'm surprised seeing Cupbop in here XD
I just love how Mark waits for all other sharks to mark an offer then, boom! strikes the perfect offer.
I love everything about the brand, the founders, the product and their stories. Perfect combination!
OMG ITS MISTER B- ... Edukada :(
the fact that Robert offered 5m is abstolutely insane
He saw the value. The company was worth over $200 million today.
I remember eating CupBop wayy back in 2014 or 2015 during my freshman year of college in Utah. They had a location on our school campus. Kudos to these guys for making it to Shark Tank all these years later.
They still have it at the U
thier fisrt location was at BYU
Not only did they get an amazing deal. They won the negotiation with a billionaire shark. Master class performance
Sharks and negotiations aside, I actually went to this place today and bought their MANDOO bop and it was delicious, I actually still have the bowl on my desk, it's delicious and uniquely styled, great presentation, honest rating of 9.5/10 by me. I feel like we will start seeing them everywhere
What mark said "Funny how people who grew up here don't feel the same way." So true..
No appreciation for opportunities is the reason.
EXACTLY liberals in America 🇺🇸 are so ungrateful
Welll they keep on giving those opputuntiies overseas

Hilarious 😂
He is a millionaire. It's free they grab anything frrr
Mark will always be the best option tbh, dude owns the Mavs he can put one of the restaurants in the stadium and give them national tv publicity
I like this episode because: everyone was respectful and hopeful of each other. Nobody tries to one up anyone. Mutual respect for all the sharks engaged and want in. It’s like the difference between shopping for a car and a super aggressive salesman comes at you, versus someone who just comes off as helpful and doesn’t try and cross any borders…
So much nicer than the arrogant Dragons that never let the entrepreneurs finish and are constantly offended
Simply no. They are only respectful because of the food. The sharks dont get a break let alone fed.

These guys did a fantastic intro, the same as " I want to draw a cat for you", there's only a few you'll never forget. Since Mark's offer was the closest to what they originally asked for, of course they would accept his deal that did go through. As of May 2022 when this show aired, in the US there were 36 store locations, six food trucks, and several concession locations.
To date they have 48 stores in the US, over 1000 in Indonesia and have expanded into other countries as well including 1 in Australia - YAY! since we are usually last for products and such compared to the rest of the world (Scrub Daddy were only available in shops last year unless you bought online). This is extremely impressive since they were on Shark Tank less than a year ago. So happy for their success and amazing growth.
A THOUSAND????
@@charbeleid193 My bad, as of Nov 2022 Indonesia had more than 125 stores, not thousands. Thanks for letting me know of the error I made. 😀

Damn that $5M from Robert is serious! Wow.. I hope these guys more success, and for Mark too. Great episode!
it was never serious, they were never going to accept that deal, they only had 50% between them left. They're not giving up more than 25% they would be stupid to. The most I would see them giving up was 15% for that amount. I mean look how they nickel and dimed cuban for that extra 1/2 %
@@patricklee4581 yes she was informed on that, they talked about how they only own 50% at around 4:42, while barbara made her nonsensical delusional offer at 9:50, this is assuming this vid wasn't editted and this is the proper chronological order.

I need this in my town! Love the brand, love these guys, food looks great, just a great deal all around
Cool.
Crazy business set up this, you’d think that at some point the 50% of profits going to investors who had no real involvement in the business would have made them decide to shutter the company and start again
My thought exactly. These 2 great guys are making others rich to sit on their asses...
I really don't have any knowledge in business so I was always wondering how can 50% of shares can be owned by someone who didn't really invest at all.

Everybody wants Cuban and there's a reason for that, Cuban is in touch with modern reality, he is on Complex buying and talking shoes, he's on Podcasts with trendy people, he's at music and concert shows etc he knows how to get a brand viral!

Imagine getting dropped off in Utah to a random family, that's nuts.
Most kids would have resented their parents for something like this. Not praised them down the road because they managed to become successful. It could have easily gone another way. Then how would they feel about the parents.
yeah, I'd be saying I became a success despite my parents - not praise them for it.

I agree with Mark, people born in the U.S don't see the opportunity this GREAT COUNTRY can give you for a great future.
They see it. It's just laziness. With immigrants like these they're mentality is different. For them laziness is not an option.
@@robinabernathy2829 This. Lazy and also entitled. And pepper in the fact that many learn their parent's defeatism and cynicism.

Robert believed in them but got too GREEDY and offered way more money for way more equity than the guys could, especially since some other investors already take 50% of the profit.
Now Mark set back and studied those guys reactions to all the offers. He knew what they really wanted a Shark for was to grow their business. He emphasized on that point and made offer closest to what they were asking for.

@@Karonclip Just like your dad who left to get the milk?
It was really cool, Korean guys finally made a deal with Mark. I’m proud of Korea!! Respect!
There must be something I'm missing because I cannot respect parents who abandoned their children in another country (unless their lives were in jeopardy, which is not the case in Korea). Valuing money over anything else strikes me as strange and kind of deranged. If the parents thought it was so much better in the US than in Korea, why wouldn't they move too? It's cruel to expect an 11-year-old to make that cultural adjustment alone. Looking at it another way, if Korea is so awful that you have to get your children out of there (and I don't think it is), why should people embrace this brand ("Koreans are FUN!")? It's either one or the other; doesn't work both ways.
@Lou Sialb I think your missing the point😅 most of the time Korean immigrants are poor. And because that the parents probably wanted to give child better opportunity since america is the best place.
I’ve meet them on their first food truck in Utah 8 years ago, that’s crazy! I had no idea they were on the show!
I think I’ve had this before, it’s so cool to see products I have eaten/used before appearing in shark tank.
Man it must have been tough for his parents to leave him and brother in another country with other people. I don’t know if I could do that. I know it was to help them, but I know that had to hurt unbelievably bad. Especially for mom.

I've been waiting for years for someone like you to come into the tank; in fact, I dare say you are the single greatest entrepreneur we've ever seen, with the greatest business we've ever seen. This product will change hundreds of millions of lives for the better, and generate hundreds of billions in revenue. I think you're beautiful, and I love you. For those reasons, I'm out.
Mark wins the deals because he gives the most reasonable offers while Kevin offers deals that only benefit him and doesn't really care if the business even survives as long as he gets his return on investment with the high interests.
It is easy for people both outside the US as well as within to criticize and see the flaws in it’s governing, society and open market. But sometimes you get to see it working. The opportunities it offers and the meritorious rewards it gives to those willing to put everything in to achieve something great.
I think the sharks and everyone picked up on that resulting in a respectful, good vibed, emotional pitch.
In the early days their food trucks were notorious for selling out. I always knew once they started opening open brick and mortar locations they were going to do big things. Great guys I’m happy for them.
Thank you for not ruining the entire video in the title, it was a much better video for it!
