The peanut butter pump is actually quite a good idea, a lot of people I know including me where we have such a busy lifestyle, 2 pumps and you have a sandwich on the go while you're running late? It would be great. The product could really be useful too for eldery and people who suffers from Parkinson's where they can make a snack on their own.
Very true, that's an audience he should have brought up. People with disabilities that don't allow them to perform the action of twisting a jar, which is actually really complicated when you have dexterity issues.
That first idea has so much potential. That technology could be licensed to literally anyone who manufactures product in a bottle. Sauces, jams, peanut butter isn’t the only thing. So much potential they all just ignored.
@@stuff1784 No, but actually yes lmao! You're right in the idea, but for him specifically he just did it on Kickstarter instead. He made a kickstarter campaign, with an initial ask of 20k. Ended up making 100k, and still needed Shark money bc he used Kickstarter funds for personal use. That being said: Gofundme, Indiegogo, Kickstarter, heck even the offering plate at church-- All of these are "crowdfunding"! Because they rely on a goal/product/service being supplied and ran by anonymous donations/purchases! Hope this helps~!
Hmm... I thought at first that the peanut butter thing was a little gimmicky, but after some further thought, I can think of a market for it. At a cafe I used to work at, we used to keep large jars Of peanut butter in the fridge. We kept it in the fridge because the little blobs of peanut butter around the rim would likely attract ants otherwise. We would have to get the big tub out every time someone wanted peanut butter (and have to move a bunch of stuff out of the way doing so). You'd open the lid and there'd be crumbs and little pieces of jam through the peanut butter - it was a mess. You'd scoop out peanut butter with a butter knife scraper thing (we didn't have many of these) and the knife would be dirty and need a thorough wash before being used for something else. In the rush of lunch hour, every minute spent fumbling for tubs, taking off the stupid sticky lid and washing knives really adds up.
what he should have done was, equate how much peanut butter is in a jar after people think they have completely used it up , calculate the waste versus how many millions of bottles are sold then pitch that a company or cruiseline or hotel who uses peanut butter could save xyz amount with his invention and save time and this will be attractive to soccer moms who want quick solution and kids to not be messy... its how you sell the message and he didnt think this through... cruise lines hotels, restaurants etc and any other business who uses peanut butter, jams, or any type of substance that is hard to get out of a jar is his customer
@@clarissarocha8459 I just watched this pitch was just completed airing on CNBC and that B Jvu comment above was right on. The poor guy just stood there like he was really shocked that he didn't get a deal.
Kevin's point is moot. His statistics are not of the broader market but of a niche group of peanut butter enthusiasts. Enough people do NOT refrigerate peanut butter where this product could find success. The problem was not that the pump could not handle the viscosity of cold peanut butter but the inflated evaluation and lack of real sales.
Peanut butter pump guy .....you are soo genuine I wish you get success & money❤ your idea is small but it does solves a problem (even the tiny) so yeah good job
The peanut butter pump is a perfect solution for house holds where certain people can’t have gluten. Just pump the peanut butter on the bread. The bread doesn’t have to even touch the nozzle and everyone can use the same jar of peanut butter.
I just tried the mushroom jerky and it is amazing! It really does have the texture of meat and the flavor is somewhat reminiscent of beef! I really love the zesty Thai, curry, and the teriyaki!
I can see the peanut butter pump working for families or cafés. Although I can also seeing that helping with people who have wrist problems (although that could be stretching it)
The peanut butter guy had a great idea! It would work really well in schools, cafeteria, and restaurants, maybe even for people with disabilities this abilities and children
Alex's deal is "if your business fails, give me my money back, if it succeeds, I get a huge piece of it." And they accepted it. I think he's done that before too. Very smart.
@@boredapathetic Yeah i would have taken Kevin's offer over that any day. If the business succeeds he only owns 5% and is only making $500k in royalties. He literally spent the crowdfunding money, NOT on the company, but for personal reasons . So honestly, I wouldn’t invest either cause you can’t trust where the money is going to . We already know he spent the money on himself the first time .
I think the mistake of the peanut pump was focusing to much on peanut butter. In theory you could fill it with anything. Mayo, sour cream, or anything that's difficult to spread. Plus I think he should pitch it to restaurants, cafes because they use more. He could have also pictched it directly to the manufacturer. Because someone might nowlt buy one for themselves but they might buy one if it comes that way in the store. Awesome product tho
Peanut butter pump is BRILLIANT!!! I hope he doesn’t give up! It has tremendous potential! Imagine jiff peanut butter selling these little pumps with the peanut butter! That slice of sauce was more of a sauce roll-up. Also, any chef or cook can tell you that sauces and mayos serve 2 purpose- 1. Taste and 2. Add moisture. So you are taking out the moisture and that leaves you with just a dry ass sandwich. Tasty maybe but dry.
I love how Robert asks if $27/ PB jar is a lot and Lori says it is. Either Robert hasn't grocery shopped in a LONG TIME or whoever is shopping for him gives fake prices and has a HUGE hidden stack of cash 😉
I camp and hike. Here's what you do: stop at a fries shop on your way to where you're camping, and ask for extra mini packets of ketchup. Free AND not disgustingly dehydrated. One of the main purposes of sauce is to add hydration. Also, if you for some weird reason really want dried out ketchup, grab a sheet of wax paper or tin foil, spread a layer of ketchup on it, turn your oven on low, and throw it in. Or do that with tomatoes--you end up with sundried tomatoes, which taste way better. TBH their idea just makes me so angry. It's mind blowing that they got a deal.
You’d think that, but it’s not really practical. Why add, what is especially fruit leathered ketchup to your sandwiches? How would you put this in a hotdog if you were camping? It’s not a big deal to carry packets of sauce with you and it’s much cheaper.
that was a very practical pump, could use it for far more than peanut butter, and it could come in different sizes eventually. Untill then try throwing your peanut butter in the microwave a few seconds, and use a rubber spatula on the sides

Maybe it's shrooms and everyone high on it and start thinking it's meat.
i read reviews about it and a lot of people complained it was nasty. maybe their batch was bad or something went wrong because they were rushed to fulfill all those shark tank orders.
🤔 umami flavors…. Aka MSG
@@samgao msg is great, people are tripping
This was about peanut butter not mushrooms 🤣😂
Kevin went full on peanut butter nerd on this. I love it!
Lori is such an interesting and amazing person. I just love her attitude.
She’s always smiling ☺️ ❤
Lori is always the kindest, softest and most patient out of all sharks. I'd love her to be my investor ANY day.
Mushroom jerky guy was brilliant. He had very little *need* to pitch to the sharks. His company was already making good headway for success. No, It was a pitch to the world and he scored. Getting a major investor was just a huge bonus.
The slice condiments is unique but not essential. Totally cuts out people who like to dip in sauce.
It's super expensive. No way this will work.
yeah, i dont see why you would really need that unless you were in a unique situation, like camping, hiking or a road trip to avoid mess in the car.
But then u have a dry sandwich hints sauces
@@dazem8 those were my thoughts also, and would be dry.
@@davidgray7907 exactly! I’ll pass on the dehydrated condiment slice! It’s basically ketchup/mustard/ jerky.
When Kevin, is so serious on his points about the peanut butter, and the community and here I am rofl. I just love this shark.
Mark stealing that deal from Lori and the other dude was a masterpiece. Well played.
That first idea has so much potential. That technology could be licensed to literally anyone who manufactures product in a bottle. Sauces, jams, peanut butter isn’t the only thing. So much potential they all just ignored.
Oh no they listened. They just didn’t trust a guy that spent that crowdfunding money for personal reasons.
@@KevinContreras2013 thats what I thought happened...oof...a lot of kickstarter/indiegogo campaigns have done this.
Isn’t “crowdfunding” a fancy word for setting up a go fund me?
@@stuff1784 No, but actually yes lmao! You're right in the idea, but for him specifically he just did it on Kickstarter instead. He made a kickstarter campaign, with an initial ask of 20k. Ended up making 100k, and still needed Shark money bc he used Kickstarter funds for personal use. That being said: Gofundme, Indiegogo, Kickstarter, heck even the offering plate at church-- All of these are "crowdfunding"! Because they rely on a goal/product/service being supplied and ran by anonymous donations/purchases! Hope this helps~!
@@KevinContreras2013he was unemployed.....it makes sense he needed to survive
The peanut butter pump is also a great accessibility tool for people with disabilities, the sharks can be very close minded sometimes.
My thoughts exactly!
Yup and elderly
I THOUGHT THE SAME THING
You won't build an empire by targeting 5% of the population.
My real problem with it is that it's way bigger than a jar of peanut butter.
His product isn't designed for the fridge
@@pavy415 with the pump there wouldn’t be a mess around the rim so it wouldn’t need to be refrigerated
Sounds more like y’all just needed a better kitchen manager.
@@heritage.fields what makes you say that?
Mark is so happy with the mushroom jerky deak 😂
4:45 ‘’Did you get, kicked outta the community’’ -Daymond John
what he should have done was, equate how much peanut butter is in a jar after people think they have completely used it up , calculate the waste versus how many millions of bottles are sold then pitch that a company or cruiseline or hotel who uses peanut butter could save xyz amount with his invention and save time and this will be attractive to soccer moms who want quick solution and kids to not be messy... its how you sell the message and he didnt think this through...
cruise lines hotels, restaurants etc and any other business who uses peanut butter, jams, or any type of substance that is hard to get out of a jar is his customer
You did a better pitch than he did, and explained it better as well.

Mark is awesomely funny with that statement. Robert missed it. “I am sick of Kevin’s peanut butter arrogance” lol.
Andy should have marketed the peanut butter pump to a commercial market: daycares, prisons, schools, veterinarians, and smoothie/ice cream chains
Mark is sharp. He said "you just gave me an offer are you going to live up to it" so he put his character in question.
As a member of the community Kevin is absolutely right. One of the main reason he is a key figure with it
I 100% agree with everything above, this cannot be overlooked.
@@asimhussain8716 This comment was written before his greater influence/dominance within the community. Nevertheless I sincerely apologize
I cant tell if everyone in this reply section is serious or not but either way I’m intrigued
Nahhh I've had a jar of peanut butter (peanuts, salt) in my cupboard for over 6 months. Perfectly good
The way Kevin is just in some peanut butter communities that have debates. What a thrill

The first guy was so passionate about what he was doing, hats off to him. Keep going brother, you will make it big
It sucks

The kind of people who care about getting every last drop of peanut butter won't spent $27 on a pump to do so.

Alex's deal is "if your business fails, give me my money back, if it succeeds, I get a huge piece of it." And they accepted it. I think he's done that before too. Very smart.
yeah i’m very surprised they took that offer. I bet Cuban would’ve had a better offer, now they’ll never know.
@@boredapathetic Yeah i would have taken Kevin's offer over that any day. If the business succeeds he only owns 5% and is only making $500k in royalties. If the business fails, you still keep his $200k. Meanwhile with Alex, if the business succeeds, he owns 15% of it. And it if fails, you owe him $200k.

Kevin looked serious about the fist one. Look like something he was actually passionate about!
The idea of Kevin just in forums debating peanut butter is hilarious
Peanut butter pump is BRILLIANT!!! I hope he doesn’t give up! It has tremendous potential! Imagine jiff peanut butter selling these little pumps with the peanut butter! You can also make the top part of the pump removable so you can store it in the fridge! I think they laughed at him and made him nervous so he couldn’t really counterpart the sharks doubts
It's an insanely good product. Commercial value is insane, any store selling products with peanut butter would want one.
Peanut butter pump is a great idea! It ensures the user gets every last drop out of their jar, and hence, every single cent they paid for it!

@@SirPeterlll it's not for a house like mine where we use it almost every day and not just for sandwiches but also shakes so i can totally see my self using it since it's fun lol

Great point! Sandwiches need some moisture.
So make actual decent food. If you know how to cook then the meat should of enough moisture in it
And also most sandwiches have lettuce, which is mostly water.

I think they really should’ve marketed the slice of sauce to backpackers and hikers, be great for that community
I don’t get it, if you can’t bring ketchup with you, how do you bring deli meat?
@@anovosedlik 4months late but they didnt get a deal, it never went through and the company failed
that was a very practical pump, could use it for far more than peanut butter, and it could come in different sizes eventually. Untill then try throwing your peanut butter in the microwave a few seconds, and use a rubber spatula on the sides
