Of course that's why he's in the middle and he has the most entertaining personality, doesn't take anything away from anyone else. Everyone is being themselves, I'm sure nobody came in competing to be the "anchor" of the show.

The last couple didn't realize the difference between those offers. Barbara settled at 10%, which is 1% more than Lori. However Lori will charge them 600k in 2 years. Essentially they refused to sell 1% for 600k, which is a valuation for 60M.
My friend you can't throw away the 10% and consider the 1% and evaluate it separately. It's not how it works.
@@franklinegbuche7097 Alan is correct. let's putting it another way. Lori invest 600k for 10%, and after 2 years, the couple give her 600k for 1% so Lori own 9%. it is not exactly how the deal was done, but this sounds clearer. the couple made a dumb move
Perhaps, but I think they much preferred working with Lori than Barbara, and the 1% equity negotiation was only to maximize their deal with Lori. Mark's point assumes the sharks bring equal value in + Barbara wasn't offering the full 600k as she would still be charging 300k + interest. So, the valuation is actually ~30M from that 1% which isn't incredibly ridiculous if they'd rather work with Lori to begin with.

They did not give her 600k for 1% of their company back, she was simply willing to go down 1% in order to have a higher valuation on the company, which is where the couple went wrong on being to focused on valuation rather then realizing they just gave away 9% of their company for a loan. Also Alan was wrong, they did not “refuse to sell 1% for 600k”?? The valuation was 10% for 600k from the original offers, meaning a valuation of 6,000,000 not 60,000,000.
@@yodoleloo6258 i already said "this was not the deal". your answer is to the question of "what is the valuation from the couple compared to Bara's valuation". my answer is to the question of " how much the couple is willing to give up in order to get 1% more, since they already have an offer of 10% on the table".
An update on how the 3 businesses are doing:
Angel lift - The couple earned $3 million in sales in the aftermath of the show. They also built out an Amazon store. Fast forward to June, 2022 and they're still in business earning $5 million in annual revenue.
Biaggi - As of May, 2022, the company is still in business with $5 million in annual revenue.
Rufflebutts/ruggedbutts - As of Nov 2022, they are doing 7m in annual revenue

I know what mark means with that last one. In essence they gave Lori 9% of their company for a two years $600k loan. They got a partner along the way but they basically gave up equity for a loan. Similar to a record deal honestly. Barbs on the other hand was half loan half straight cash. They were too fixated on the valuation. I’m sure it’ll work out fine but lesson to all that valuation is not everything.

Regarding the luggage, I can't help but think that Damon changed his mind because the guy worked in the same building. The guy selling the luggage already brought up that he saw Damon's car in the garage. I can't help but think that Damon might have thought that this guy would show up at his doorstep, meet him at his car, etc. being a pain in the @$$ and reconsidered using Lori's strengths as an excuse haha

Mark's right for the last one; they didn't get it. It was basically an interest free 2 year loan for 9% equity in a company with $5m+ in annual revenues. Without looking it up, I bet when they get home they will realise it's a bad deal for them, and pull out, or not agree to the payback clause. That kind of (payback) deal is worth maybe 4% equity with a shark, and maybe 3% for a venture capitalist. A loan would normally get circa 10% pa interest, at $600k = $30k approx. So in effect Lori's paid $30k for a 9% equity stake......she's one very smart woman. The only consideration is the high level of risk associated for a company with such a high number of skews.......They really need to find a way to cut 80% of their skews, or at least 80% of the need to carry the stock. Otherwise the company is going to suck money in, quicker than they can raise it.
