I'm 80 years old, and this mix takes me back to the days in the '70s when I played bass in a cover band at local dives and clubs. We'd rock this tune for 15 minutes or more and everyone loved it. Right now i'm teary-eyed, remembering those happy times. This song will live forever.
Hey Professor....I'm 80 too...let's cry tears of joy...how'bout it? My journey has been rich and deep and I remain so grateful. Feel like howling tonight. Blessings, Meg
Dear @professor767. I hope that you are still doing well and staying SAFE! I personally say THANK YOU for your contributions to the music industry. The "COVER BANDS" of the 70's and early 80's is what kept this country going! It's too bad that these bands never got the RECOGNITION THAT THEY DEFINITELY DESERVED! BUT, I THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
Im 61 now.. born 1963.. our generation was raised on the GREATEST music of ALL time.. Muscle cars!! Beautiful girls & Rock N Roll!! Nothing like getting in my classic 1970 Chevrolet Impala on a Saturday evening.. going for a cruise & listening to the MUSIC!! oh it takes me back to a time of when i met my Beautiful wife of 42 yrs! .. she was 16.. I was 17 in the Spring of 1981.. I had a 1967 Chevelle SS then.. Pioneer stereo w/ Pioneer 6x9 speakers.. She & I would CRANK these tunes up & thought we were just on top of the world! Spring 2020 we found out she had Stage Two Breast Cancer.. 21 months later she was declared Cancer free!! So young folks.. LISTEN TO THE MUSIC!!!
I'm 64 and can relate. I used to drive to my local amusement park in the late 70's. Blasting my music all the way. It was music, girls, beer and more beer. 🤣 Those were the best days of my life. The music was great and the girls were even better. Did I mention all the beautiful girls 🤣🤣. They loved my car, my tunes and me 🎼🎸🎙️❤️
Isn’t it amazing that a “simple” creation from the soul as a song can bring such love and beauty into this world. Instead of making weapons of war, greed, fear , etc… we could create love and compassion for a world without judgement or prejudice. I mean how many lives were saved from let’s say suicide or even just a bad day by this one single song. Awaken people and live and spread the vibration this song is resonating
I'm 71 years old and been listening to and loving the Doobie brothers my whole adult life, not to mention my youth. The way this has been put together with contributions from all over the world makes it one of the best music vids EVER!! Rock on.
I'm 5 years behind you in age, Wally, but I too have always loved the Doobie Brothers. This collaboration makes me cry (for joy) every time I watch it.
This is beautiful - the people of the world can get along - its the politicians that pit us against one another - Music is what binds us together as one - Love everyone
Absolute perfection The sound Engineer and producer should receive a Grammy for their outstanding talent as much as the incredible musicians who are performing

Maybe the song was ahead of its time, just glad to see the legends are still around and a big thnx to the rest of the muso's who had a hand and voice in making this happen.
Tom Johnston, look at what you’ve done. Truly Classic American Pop/Rock song. “It ain’t so hard to do if you know how.” Y’all notice Tom’s daughter Lara? Everyone owes it to themselves to listen to the music [earphones if you have them].
What a great version of this song. It’s great to see the world come together when others in this world are trying to separate us. To the majority of us out there, let’s celebrate togetherness. We are one world!
I am former military and I wonder why we cant stop killing each other, what we cant get along or ignore people that hate us for no reason. This is an awesome video and song. I love the concept of such a diverse group of people happily singing this song and participating in both voice and instruments.
My father fought the Japanese in Burma and Thailand, then fought in the conflict n Malaya, then in Africa, then Eastern Europe. He had a rack of medals, but a heart of gold . . .
Yip, I'm here because I needed a break from war news. Severe head injury denied to exist for 7 years is my war. I've escaped a woman from russia but not her sister who hides her husband. Balance between song and drama. War and love.
68 here, and God Bless You all! I can’t watch this this vid without getting up outta my chair and dancing along with all these beautiful people. Always end up with up with damp eyes as well. Thanks to all you Vets for all you’ve done and for sharing the Love!
Reading the other comments, I was pleased to find that so many people connected with the positive, resonant message within this song. It hadn't occurred to me how relevant this song is to the current national climate. Thank you Tom Johnston and the Doobie Brothers for bringing it to us. You're making the world a better place one note, one chord at a time!
really ... the song ... the sound ... the video ... just beautiful !!! ... eye candy video of the world, audio editing beyond superb, & wonderful wonderful music
Your right, his voice is spot on ,seen them at Buffalo bills Stadium in the 70s,just as good today if not even better ,the video is a blessing to the world today,
Black Sabbath nailed it down with their song WAR Pigs...It's NOT the people, it's a group of them in secret using humanity as their own pawns in their own sick war games..."Politicians hide themselves away, they always started the wars..."
Wow Fantastic experience and Keep up with the amazing efforts of Spreading Love through Music. May Almighty God bless All of them with Blissfull Health Always
I have been playing this tune with my bands since I was a teenager 45 years ago. It has always done it for me, it always gets the crowds and puts a lump in my throat too.
Just found this video...the Doobie Brothers and their music were the soundtrack of my high school and college years. I've always loved this song. To hear it in a new version just shows the timelessness of the song and lyrics. And it's wonderful to see Patrick Simmons smiling and playing!! Bravo to all the musicians and the technical crew who put these videos together!
Mike C If that tune and cast of singers and musicians doesn't make you feel good, nothing will. Thank you Tom Johnston for a song that resonates from so many years ago. I feel happy after that!
Wow wow, this hits you right in the heart!!! This is how our world should be, united because we are really all the same!! We all want peace, harmony and wellbeing. Maybe one day ❤
This is what life is about.... People all around the world getting together, being happy and having a wonderful time. Look how beautiful all around the world can be. We don't need wars and kinda that stuff, we only need to get happy and treat each other well and life the best live we can 🙏🤗 Peace and Love ✌️♥️
I can’t even begin to express how much I LOVE this. For starters, this song is one of my favorites by the Doobie Brothers. And to see and hear it being performed by musicians all over the world........it brought me to tears. With all the hatred and division and evil in the world, this is what we need now more than ever. Peace. Harmony. Love. I wish everyone could see this video. I wish the whole world was like this video. 🙏
I’m with you, elsamere! We all need this type of inspiration in our lives right now. I’ve felt much peace and comfort from listening to some of the old songs.
Best remake ever. The words are scripture recognized by all creeds, and obviously felt in the artist’s expression of this classic! I feel it. I love it.

Tom Johnston is one of the top vocalists in rock. Period. He is a legend and one of the best musicians . Of course the Doobies as well. This band and rendition kicks ass. Love it!!!!!
My 95-year old mother who recently passed away was a huge Doobie fan having seen them in concert , owning several concert footage VHS and DVD's enjoyed this creative video. It ignited once again her passion for Music and Life. Thank-you Doobie Brothers, musician's around the world & Playing For Change for this wonderful recording!!
What a blessing! How I long to hear such music in worship of the Almighty! I remember this song repeatedly played at Ft. Carson, CO, where I was under arrest for refusing to be inducted and fight in that evil and phony Vietnam War.
I love this as it brings humanity together in happiness and love. So much it makes me wanna cry. To see all come together as one. I think God is smiling.😊
This song brings special feelings. My hair stands on end, I feel teary-eyed, I feel the love of God, I feel hope, love and courage. The power of the Lord is in people and if we just let it shine, there's no amount of darkness that can extinguish our fire.
Tommy Johnston wrote a song that literally said it all. Having this performance captured literally brought it to life visually. Mankind at its best, and you feel it in your soul. Thank you TJ ❤️
Music is the only thing that can be shared by all culture's without out hate. Love it. Keep those beautiful positive messages coming. This is definitely heartwarming. Thank you all
Pure Happiness and Joy! Been though hell and back during my life, but the Doobies always put a smile on my face and a song in my heart..... it's literally what's kept me alive all these years. Thank You Brothers!❤️✌️
Another "Ode of Joy"... - I love that "Playing for Change Band" thing. Great music, incredible message - people belong together. Not divided by hate and hate actions. This awareness brings tears to your eyes when you watch and listen.
John Humphrey I agree 100%. How about that veteran drummer, spot on, I even found myself strummin along and then seen that 1000 lost souls didn't find joy and meaning in this.
One of the greatest songs in Fiji at that time! Classic! We still listen to a lot of 70s, 80s music here and really appreciate these great musicians!! Music forever!!
Wow..... Tom and Pat? Going strong here sending out a great timeless and solid happy tune. They are reaching out around the world and sharing something everyone regardless of distance we can all enjoy. Thanks Tom And Pat. From an old on air radio DJ who rocked out back in the 70s ? And still listens to your guys great sound. And that? Is something you can take to the streets.
I absolutely agree.i have never knew what that instrument was called until i started watching these videos.it shows that good and butifull things are still happening all over this tiny little world. God bless everyone and the Lord you believe in it's all really the same concept, good is always been better than bad.
really ... the song ... the sound ... the video ... just beautiful !!! ... eye candy video of the world, audio editing beyond superb, & wonderful wonderful music
I LOVE THE FACT THAT MUSIC BRINGS PEOPLE OF ALL COLORS TOGETHER! WORLD LEADERS NEED THAT MUSIC AND QUIT HATING AND BEING SO DAMN GREEDY!!! BLESS ALL YOU MUSIC LOVERS EVERYWHERE!!!
i see what you mean, but you should quit listening to the radio and go to bandcamp or soundcloud (or youtube) if you want to hear the music writers of today and - quit comparing! the doobie brothers were pure shit! none of their songs could cope with the duke! ellington played them right in the dust! and then show me one song of the doobie´s that is as good as this one: ruclips.net/video/MejbOFk7H6c/видео.html pure sadness, haha... see what i mean? to think like that is pure rubbish! the old swing fans hated hendrix and guys like the doobie´s, to them they were the killers of REAL music - wake up from your ignorance, man........... hey my friend, please forgive my little rant - i´m a bit fed up from old guys lamenting over the bad music of today without having even the faintest clue of what´s going on - you have the net, use it... ruclips.net/video/q--ITc020dg/видео.html i highly recommend to check the "npr tiny desk" series, there you can witness artists from all ages and genres performing behind the desk in a bureau (hence the title) in a nice intimate atmosphere - well hosted, well recorded... ruclips.net/video/ZyHipL45pwM/видео.html ruclips.net/video/FvVnP8G6ITs/видео.html ruclips.net/video/y5p8Bmv0NSQ/видео.html best wishes from germany
@@turtleworld3208 haha, cool - did my rant above upset you? hey, i´m seriously asking - i realized, that i was quite injust to poor francisco, because he didn´t just spit on modern songwriters like so many do, but just criticized, that there are too many sad songs and to much self concern - with the latter i can agree when it comes to popsongs, but not with the first - there is not only sadness in modern music, but as i said, most old guys, only know what is played in the radio, and that is: products of the music industry! if you are actually interested in the music of the musicians, go to bandcamp or soundcloud or, tadaa: youtube... (and i apologized to francisco and explained my outburst, didn´t i?) ruclips.net/video/IWtg_6bqfeA/видео.html
My brother Marty loved the Doobie Brothers from the very beginning. Everyone who knew and loved him always connected him with the Doobs' music. I first heard this incredible video on what would have been his 71st birthday. Thank you for bringing the world together in my brother's and my family's favorite music. Hopefully, it will spread and there will be understanding and peace someday soon. 🕊️
Sorry to hear about your brother but glad to know that he enjoyed their music and honoring him with the band and many talented musicians from around the world contributing to the song to make it unique is special
If these awesome vocals & lyrics don't bring everyone together, I don't know what would. Imagine this playing before any Congressional meeting in Washington. At least the Politicians might start with a smile on their face!! Support the PFC Organization..........what a wonderful start!!
Honestly, I have never cared for these super-ensemble renditions of any song, especially when they are songs I love as much as this one. This, however, was beautiful and made my day.
Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons must be incredibly proud of this. Write a song in one century, make some money and then find your singing it eighteen years into the next century with musicians from the world over. Meanwhile a 57 year old in Philly has his favorite albums hanging on the wall. Including the first one he bought with his own money. This song is on it. Way Cool moments all the way around.
How I wish I can participate to this jammin round the world before God take my life back, I can play guitar and sing. I want to see myself with this wonderful musician. God is good. Hear me my Lord Jesus.
WOW....WOW AND MORE WOW.....Was always a powerful song sung by the amazing Doobies....but this takes it to a new level - so needed at this time in the world -thanks to all !
Has any band practiced and espoused acceptance, tolerance and empathy more than the Doobie Brothers over the years? Glad they’re still going strong. God bless to everyone!
listening today while thinking of yesterday...my handsome apache son Micah completed his training in Ft. Moore, Georgia.....far away from home. A proud mom.

This song brings tears to my eyes - the diversity, the unity and the love of people with music as the glue.
Diversity is what the whole world is about ❤
It's a wonderful thing-the universality and diversity of music.
Beautiful, the way music should be, I've got tears also.

Mr. Wise. Yes he's proud, and I'm proud of him. Gee what a Genuine smile!!!
YES, the smile of an African is usually Golden!
I play this every Monday morning, its an inspiring way to start my week. Its just awesome❤
It's crazy all the different Countries, cultures, languages, colors and there is one thing that brings us all together.. Music!
Absotively EvilSnipa . . . Absotively, well said these folks spread LOVE and FRIENDSHIP ! ! !
Music…THE Universal language!
Sebastian has created pure GOLD!!! Your dad should be proud ❤️
Playing For Change once again proves music is the common thread that binds all of us.
How could anyone take even a finger movement to give this a thumbs down?
Music is one of the only things that all cultures and societies throughout history have in common
This is the reason they wrote this song. A
Reason for people to come together. One of my faves!!!
PFC is the best thing to happen to music in decades. Not a single song goes by without flooding my emotions🤙🏼
Music simply doesn't get any better than this .
Damn. Simply damn. If you listen to this and aren't moved then you have no heart or soul. I did not think the original could be topped but here it is.
One of the best remixes or rework, collars ever freaking done
This should be the song for the world right now! ..Take Care Everyone Out There!
I agree. I'm going to send it to everyone
X 2
Tommy Johnston wrote a song that literally said it all.
Having this performance captured literally brought it to life visually.
Mankind at its best, and you feel it in your soul.
Thank you TJ ❤️
Music is the only thing that can be shared by all culture's without out hate. Love it. Keep those beautiful positive messages coming. This is definitely heartwarming. Thank you all
Love the doobies and Tom Johnston’s raspy vocals. A big fan since High School in the 70s
Absolutely fabulous -- all God's children have got a place in the choir
Totally speechless. Time to come together, people.
Truer words were never spoken Francis . May you be richly blessed and live a long , healthy and prosperous life my friend .
A long time coming brother. It's the only way.
Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons are still rockin'!
Pure Happiness and Joy!
Been though hell and back during my life, but the Doobies always put a smile on my face and a song in my heart..... it's literally what's kept me alive all these years.
Thank You Brothers!❤️✌️
James Gadson.
That man defined groove in the 70's.
Another "Ode of Joy"... - I love that "Playing for Change Band" thing.
Great music, incredible message - people belong together. Not divided by hate and hate actions.
This awareness brings tears to your eyes when you watch and listen.
As a life long musician I have to say that was one of the most inspirational things I've ever watched. Music is the one thing that binds us all.
another great comment
AMEN
You're so right ... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
John Humphrey I agree 100%. How about that veteran drummer, spot on, I even found myself strummin along and then seen that 1000 lost souls didn't find joy and meaning in this.
if you havent looked up playing for change its all awesome
One of the greatest songs in Fiji at that time! Classic! We still listen to a lot of 70s, 80s music here and really appreciate these great musicians!! Music forever!!
I love these songs played by people around the world. Peace .
Hell yes, I seen what you did there, nice.
@@polarbear353 outstanding !!
Isn’t it incredible to listen to all these musicians from different places on this world making music together ? 👏 I absolutely love the sitar player…
It is a good feeling and a great idea.
my thoughts , exactly. specially the sitar dude.
I absolutely agree.i have never knew what that instrument was called until i started watching these videos.it shows that good and butifull things are still happening all over this tiny little world. God bless everyone and the Lord you believe in it's all really the same concept, good is always been better than bad.

"What the people need, is a way to make them smile" in these crazy difficult times (2023)... Thanks, Doobies!
"It ain't so hard to do if you know how"
Amen!
How ya gonna turn this political. Give us a break man.
@Randy Rodes Don't worry, he will crumble down because of his silly Coronavirus bullshit management... Fake president, just an apprentice.
@@collectoroffrance Relax. Only 4 and a half years left.
I still haven’t heard anything like this from music writers today ... this feels good ... not about sadness not about oneself.
i see what you mean, but you should quit listening to the radio and go to bandcamp or soundcloud (or youtube) if you want to hear the music writers of today and - quit comparing!
the doobie brothers were pure shit! none of their songs could cope with the duke! ellington played them right in the dust!
and then show me one song of the doobie´s that is as good as this one: ruclips.net/video/MejbOFk7H6c/видео.html pure sadness, haha...
see what i mean? to think like that is pure rubbish!
the old swing fans hated hendrix and guys like the doobie´s, to them they were the killers of REAL music - wake up from your ignorance, man...........
hey my friend, please forgive my little rant - i´m a bit fed up from old guys lamenting over the bad music of today without having even the faintest clue of what´s going on - you have the net, use it...

i highly recommend to check the "npr tiny desk" series, there you can witness artists from all ages and genres performing behind the desk in a bureau (hence the title) in a nice intimate atmosphere - well hosted, well recorded...

@@turtleworld3208 hey turtle, i´ve been helped and i´m sane now, thanks for caring... :-)
@@friesiamans1966 Your quite welcome
(and i apologized to francisco and explained my outburst, didn´t i?)

What beauty!!!
See, everybody can enjoy, and take part in the Doobie Brothers music! 🤎
Brings tears to my eyes. Just plain AWESOME !! God IS good !!!
I’m seventy, and still singing and dancing. Much love to all of you. Keep singing, ALWAYS!❤
If these awesome vocals & lyrics don't bring everyone together, I don't know what would. Imagine this playing before any Congressional meeting in Washington. At least the Politicians might start with a smile on their face!! Support the PFC Organization..........what a wonderful start!!
This is absolutely wonderful. I am 63 and I loved the original. Smiling from head to toe !!!
An absolute joy to the eyes, ears & soul!
me too xlent!
Stewart Low
what a great comment... yes, way cool
And with his 21st century daughter adding vocals!
Makes me feel proud and I didn't have anything to do with it.
Filled my heart with joy, great song, great music. Never ever thought it could be better than the original, but I was wrong.
How I wish I can participate to this jammin round the world before God take my life back, I can play guitar and sing. I want to see myself with this wonderful musician. God is good. Hear me my Lord Jesus.
What a powerful song! Makes me want to cry and gives me goose pimples
