The simple statement “for every two fat quarters you will make three 12 inch blocks” made me want to watch the entire video. I wish everyone was that specific! Thanks!
Love this idea. Been quilting since 1976. We didn't have rotary cutters and matts, fatquarters, or great instructors like you. Every block was drawn with pencil, cut out by scissors, and sewn with a needle and thread. I always keep a project using these skills but love a quick quilt to give or donate or just change decor in a room. Thank you for sharing.
The fabric combinations are beautiful, thank you for explaining and displaying the many pattern combinations for the fat quarter pack. It's not always easy to "break up" the pack or decide on a suitable pattern for such a variety of patterns and colours. This suggestion encourages confidence to dive right in. Jess
Hi Laura, your comment regarding the addition of fat quarters is absolutely me. Whenever I go to the local shop I have to buy fat quarters and also add in a group in a parcel usually consisting of 6 fat quarters. I was wondering what I could use them for other than making small gifts for family members. I knew someone would inspire me and you certainly have. That is a fantastic quilt you made so I thank you sincerely for showing me my next step. Thank you from the UK
I love how you explain everythiing. You make everything easy to do and I love all of your videos. Thank you I will be making more quilts in all different ways Can't wait to keep sewing.
it's always a pleasure to watch your tutorials. Your colour choices, patterns and teaching style are wonderful. I enjoy watching very much. Thank you from Oz.
Great tutorial. Your editing is terrific. I know it takes more work but that’s what we need. I loved the way you said what you were going to do and BAM! There it was done, loved it. Thanks so much.
Thank you so much Laura, that’s really really stunning and gorgeous, what beautiful fabric.......I really really love 💕 this quilt. And you are so very very talented and clever and great at showing us how to do things. Stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Laura, supper great tutorial. It is almost like I HAVE TO GET THE FAT QUARTERS and begin. But I need to finish up other projects right now, so I hope this tutorial doesn't disappear! The quilt is stunning!
I absolutely love the colours in this quilt and the prints! So many options ... where to start. I am going to go through my stash today and see what I come up with. Thank you for the inspiration:)
Lynn Rickman That sounds dangerous to me!! LOL :) Big problem for me is opening the bundles. They always look so pretty tied up and sitting on my shelf. But good luck with your collecting.
Lovely fabrics, and a very well made tutorial. I find it interesting that you buy your fabric off the bolt by the meter (metre?) but your fat quarters are quarter yards.
I know it really sounds funny. In Canada, we buy fabric by the meter. Which means our fat quarters are fatter!! It is a 1/4 of the meter, not the yard.
Hi Laura I made this quilt in black and white patterned with Daisy’s I’m just learning to free motion and have watched your hearts,C and Flowers and rainbows and I’m not sure which to use to try or should I just stitch in the ditch because of the fabric being patterned help. Thx you.
I want to make a baby quilt with your beautiful method of this incredible quilt but I only want to do three rows by three rows instead of four rows like you did. My question is how many fat quarters would I need to make a 3 row by 3 row quilt???? Thanks so much for your videos & your help.
I really like the pattern and the final item. Is there any way to get the pattern written down so you can make the pattern. I have been having a hard time trying to write the directions down. IIf the directions were included with the example it would make it easy to do the quilt.
@@SewVeryEasy I hope I would be able to get the book. I like a lot of the patterns you do but can never write them down so I am glad you are going to have a book with them written down. Blanche stine
The first time I saw this video (September, 2016) I wasn't so enthused about it; I was prejudiced against the gold colored color in it. Tonight I'm seeing the "gold" as more of a deep yellow and I really like the layout you chose. Go figure. Guess it because I'm liking fat quarters more this year than last. 108K! :-)
That is a beautiful fabric line. Your instructions were very good. Was the last pix your final quilt? I would love to see it after you have quilted it. I really liked the block - assembling is not very difficult but the appearance look complicated. And thanks for suggesting a scant quarter inch seam....I hate it when my blocks are too small to properly square up. Beautiful! Thank you!
This is really Beautiful! I have been keeping a fat quarter bundle (22 fat quarters fall design) for more than 2 years, and I don't know if they are enough for a queen size quilt. What do you think Laura? Maybe adding coordinated solids? Thank you very much for your answer.
I don't think 22fq would be enough for a queen size, as a general rule I use 10 yds for a queen size quilt. So I would think you would need 5 yds of solids. I think you could make a twin with the 22fq plus a border.
I've made this pattern twice and really enjoy using it. If I wanted to make 8 1/2" half-triangle squares, how large do I make the strips and blocks? Noreen K
If I understand you correctly, The little squares would be 4 1/2" because the block would be a 16" finished block. But be sure to test out one block first before you go to town! thanks for asking and glad you like the quilt:)
Thanks for helping me. I have another question. When I cut the 7" strip, I can only get two 7" squares since the selvages seem to be quite wide. Then I have to piece the third square. Also I can only get 5 3.5" rectangles from the 3.5" strips. Am I doing something incorrect?
I can only get 2 7" squares from a row in my fat quarters. Then I have to piece the third square. Are my fat quarters not cut correctly (some are from American shops so they might be based on yards and not metres)?
Oooo... I could use up some of my fat quarters that have grown in my stash. I think they are multiplying on there own. Certainly I wouldn't buy that many 😉
Lots of fat Quarter to bust...cut the first wrong..only 2 block...be sure to cut along 22 in length...I sew a very scant seam...I am hitting. 12 1/2 on the button..suprises me

Lynn Rickman That sounds dangerous to me!! LOL :) Big problem for me is opening the bundles. They always look so pretty tied up and sitting on my shelf. But good luck with your collecting.
Cheryl Taylor lol, you're probably right! So far I'm still just window shopping! 😉

Love, Love, Love this quilt. FTW have you ever done a video on your design wall.
NO! as I made that wall years ago!
Beautiful, where is that pansie print quilting material to be found, preferably in Canada?
Well this is scary! I just bought a fat quarter bundle and wondered what I would do with it.... Well, I now know what I will do! Thank you!
funny how that works out!
I just purchased your new book with the pattern of Irish Pansy. Which blocks would enlarge the quilt and placement as in your book. Thanks.
I love your Tutorials,Thank You .
can muslin be used as a backing on a quilt?
Sure! The quilting will be very obvious though.
great video
thanks:)
Hi great tutorial I’m new to quilting after assembly how would I quilt it diagonally both sides or? Thanks.
Hi Laura, please can we have a picture with a scrappy border too, I love your tutorials,
Jules from. Australia
I want to make a baby quilt with your beautiful method of this incredible quilt but I only want to do three rows by three rows instead of four rows like you did.
My question is how many fat quarters would I need to make a 3 row by 3 row quilt????
Thanks so much for your videos & your help.
I figured out that I would only need 6 fat quarters to make my baby quilt. I love your videos. Thanks from Vermont

This is gorgeous! I would love to have these fats and do the quilt. Anyone know if they are available?
this fabric line is still available in Bozeman MT at the "silver Thimble" you can find them online and they will ship for you. Good luck!
excellent
thank you for watching
Love this. I want to just use 2 fabrics - how much yardage would I need for a 60x80?
That’s 5 x 7 blocks or 35 blocks. She said 2 fq equals 3 blocks so you would need 24 fq I think for 36 blocks and have one block extra.
hello that pattern is great. can I make it a 9" block just one.
Yes, just in-large all the sizes:)
Love this! Do you have printable instructions available?
no sorry, But please just make notes as the video plays.:)
Took notes and snap shots of the screen so I can have your directions next to me when I sew. Thanks for this lovely pattern and tutorial.

Hi Laura, can I use flannel, if Is it so, the seam allowence must be a quarter of an inch? Or little bit more, thank you, kínd regards
if you are following a pattern yes use a 1/4" :)
SewVeryEasy thank you so much for taking the time to answer, please, please, do more tutorials with fat quarters. Thank you!!! Kind regards
How do I buy this Material for a large Queen size Quilt ??
i have found that my blocks are sometimes a scant under 6.5' when I go to trim . Can i trim all blocks (4 patch and 1/2 square triangles) to 6 '?
Yes:)
were i found the pattern for this video
I can only get 2 7" squares from a row in my fat quarters. Then I have to piece the third square. Are my fat quarters not cut correctly (some are from American shops so they might be based on yards and not metres)?
unfortunately some times that happens
Are you cutting them from the 18" side or the 22"side?
Do you have a tutorial for the black and white quilt hanging behind you?
no, not at this time:)
Oooo... I could use up some of my fat quarters that have grown in my stash. I think they are multiplying on there own. Certainly I wouldn't buy that many 😉
I know what you mean!
whats the long strip? 3 1/2 by ????
