Thank you for cutting through the maze of how it's traditionally done & using Elmer's School Glue to baste a quilt. I'm an intermediate beginner who uses the QAYG method, (love Lorena's binding/no binding tutorials), and did not want to deal with repetitive pinning pieces nor the noxious fumes of spray basting. I love your simple, direct & non-toxic approach to quilt basting. I already have Elmer's School Glue, (stick & bottle versions), along with sponge brush in the house. Thanks again for your tutorial!!
I use Elmer's too! I press the backing and top piece first. I tape the backing down to the floor, then lay the batting over, then the top piece. I roll up each side like you did to glue, then lightly press to heat set the glue, then cut. Then I can quilt knowing everything is smooth and not budging :D
Elmers glue is so awesome! I used Elmer’s glue for fabric painting and it washes out so easily. I’m going to try is on my latest quilt. Will still work great with the pool noodle method.
Thank you for your video. Have you ever had spots from the glue left on your fabric after washing your quilt? I have had this problem using another brand of school glue. Thank you for your response!
Okay... now that is not what I picture when I think of someone 'quilting'! ha ha... I am so naive to so many things... the final product looks amazing! What about cleaning the quilt... do you wash it in a washing machine? How does the glue hold up? They may be dumb questions, but I really have no idea about this stuff... I love how it looks when you do the 'binding' step... amazing... ha ha... she is so cute... she appears to like the camera... ha ha...
I can never cut a straight enough line, I had to get the rotary cutting mat and tool to ever get straight lines. GLUE MIND BLOWN!!!! So many struggles with keeping the parts together with safety pins.
Patricia Marie this step is used to bind the batting to the front and back fabrics. It’s used as a temporary hold so the all three pieces can move through the sewing machine when you too stitch the quilt. ( it’s REALLY hard, almost impossible, to machine sew 3 pieces of fabric together without some kind of basting first. This Elmer’s method it a strong hold 💪🏼 but then washes out beautifully after it’s been machine sewn♥️
I like your method!! Thanks for posting. Nice video but hard to hear you speaking with that annoying clattering music. I have used diluted school glue when pressing my fabric to stiffen it for more accurate cutting. Works like Terial Magic but WAY cheaper.
+Leslie Tiny house builder wanna be a quilting needle will go through this well without sticking once it’s dry. I haven’t heard of a non stick needle but I am not well versed in needles. Let me know if you find one ♥️
@Roberta Leggett, do you dilute the Elmer's craft glue for fabric use? Does it wash out? Does it make the fabric stiff at all? Thanks! I have a bunch left over.

This is fabulous!!! You did an amazing job I actually feel like I could do this myself!!! That quilt is so pretty FYI
Steven and Frances thank you! You could totally do it, thanks for watching!!

Thank you. I will give it a try. Looks so easy, instead of pins. Not sure how long to let it dry or if it stands too long.

Gluing the fabric. Interesting. This is such a cool technique! This turned out beautiful!
I have not used elmer's glue for basting but I am going to try it next time. Thanks for the great instructions. (I love your name! - Orpha Luke)
This brings back memories of when my grandmother would quilt. She never used Elmer's though. This is great! 🙂 RUC
Quinn CJ Grandmas make the BEST quilts!
Wow you are so neat I tried this it works but I had glue all over the place.😊
Loved watching this. I’ve never quilted before. Aww your daughter is so cute

Did you make a video of how this glue method worked when you went to quilt it? Did you FMQ with a quilting foot, or did you have to use walking foot?
Great idea! next time please turn the music down, I could barely hear you. Thanks!
+Dale Mayerson thank you Dale, and thanks for the constructive comment!!
Yes. The music overpowers your speech. I'm so grateful for you showing us how to baste with the glue.
Did you ever post a third video about finishing the quilt? :)
that's amazing! You do a great job at explaining everything. Someday I want to make stuff like this.
Heidi&Baby you could totally do it.Spoonflower has some really cool patterns

Hmmm… I’m thinking that basting first everything and then trimming the edges using a rotary cutter would be easier.
Beautiful quilt!!!
Ace6/9 Vlogs & More thanks!
Ice but you always leave extra batting at least 2 inches all around till you quilt then trim as the layers will still shift

MomOfBoys NOLA those rotary cutting tools are SO TRICKY! They are supposed to make everything easier but they totally don’t 😂
@@OrphaBeatrice 😂 I was a beast with mine. I used to cut out and sew 100s of swiffer microfiber pads with it.
Wow! What an amazing job!
+The STHLM Diaries thank you♥️
Great video
Any problems with stitching through the glue for quilting? Is it important to press the sandwich first?
Don't need the music !
New subscriber. That is a pretty quilt pattern. I've always wondered how to make one and uve given me hope lol
Down By Linita's Way you could totally do it💪🏼💪🏼
I'm still amazed you can use glue to bund together a quilt!! will it hold up the same with regular washing??

Noted
Can you use a regular needle when quilting your quilts together? I believe I have heard of a nonstick needle for glueing your quilt together.

Brilliant film, but the music is too loud!
Thank you!
I use Elmers craft glue for fabric. It’s not as strong smelling as the school glue and you don’t need that much.
@Roberta Leggett, do you dilute the Elmer's craft glue for fabric use? Does it wash out? Does it make the fabric stiff at all? Thanks! I have a bunch left over.
@@rwind656 no I use full strength but only in spots. And brush it out with paint brush
@@rwind656 I don’t dilute it and the fabric doesn’t get hard or stiff. It’s washable

Music is very Distracting
Thanks for your feedback! I will make sure to keep the music lower in future videos
Pls loose the music 🎶
It would've been nice to hear what you were saying! Background wayyyy too loud!!!
Something to try I guess. Music over your talking extremely annoying!!
difficult to hear you with the music;(
Hi Susie, I have gotten this comment quite a few times and unfortunately I can’t re-record the video without music.
I appreciated the video but the music was very distracting and annoying. Made it hard to hear you.

the background music is distracting & annoying. Your voice is difficult to hear over the music. Would rather hear silence
I’m sorry your info was hard to hear due to the background music. I won’t be subscribing, I find any background music unnecessary. Thx
Omg, Don’t you iron all those creases out. It’s ridiculous!
It looks dreadful, so creased!
Do away with the music.
Background music is awful. Not necessary.
Thank you so much for watching! Was it as unnecessary as the comment you just left?
