Jenny, I wished and Pray that you will see my message. I am now 60 years old. I have been on a rollercoaster ride since year 2011. I was an over the road truck driver & I had to come in off the road that year. So, here I am, disabled and not working. The first few years with me not working I went stir crazy. I have worked all of my life. Then I found you on RUclips showing people how to quilt. You made me to love quilting. You have actually saved my life and insanity and I would love to Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Watching you on how to quilt made it so easy to learn. I have learned a lot from you!!!! You are a wonderful teacher!!! Thank you,, Thank you for saving my life
I’ve made four of them, amazed at how different they look. Love seeing yours, Jenny. The most recent one I did, I bought 7 panels, stacked and cut the six, used the last one as the center of my quilt. FUN!
Hi Jenny Everyone needs praising once in awhile and I just wanted to tell you how much you have helped me in my quilting journey. My grandmother use to quilt and my mother. Both have passed away. I never thought I'd be quilting, but in the last year I have put together 1 full size and 4 lap/baby quilts. Each one has been a challenge and unique quilts. But I've learned so much from your videos! I cannot tell you how much I have enjoyed this. I've downloaded many of your quilt patterns and I make at least 1 block of each pattern I download, just for the experience it gives me. Your a delight to watch and you make the seemingly impossible an adventure for me.❤. I love this pattern and I'm anxious to try my hand at this. Thank you for your very sweet spirit and for all the help you have given me over the last year. Your a beautiful lady with such a cheerful spirit. God Bless you!❤
This was part of the reason I started quilting. I plan to make another in 2023. If using fabric, the trick is to find one that provides the best variety of blocks. A hinged mirror lets you preview for size, and also help you decide on using either a 60 degree (six pieces) or 45 degree (eight pieces) ruler. And don't forget to put a large piece of the original fabric in the quilt back, like the truth window in a straw house.
Our quilt guild did this as a mystery quilt pattern one time. My Mom had bought me some wild bright fabric from Hawaii. I hated it, it was so wild. It made the most beautiful blocks and I too used black as my background which was unheard of in those days. I had used the black and the wild fabric with the idea that if I didn’t like it I’d throw it out. Everyone agreed it was the most beautiful quilt of the day.
@@eleanorsnyder3919 It really is amazing how a quilter can take a real crummy print but use it in unusual ways and it goes from ugly duckling to a beautiful swan.
That method of doing the sides paired with the cutting off the sides on a recent Triple Play are going to make my life so much easier when I get back to quilting. Thank you!
Jenny, this is so pretty. I saw some of these displayed at Garden of Quilts, and was fascinated. I had never seen anything like that before. Now, you have "cracked the code" for me! I cant wait to try something like this. The patterns just remind me of a spirograph that I had as a child. So, pretty. Thank you for demonstrating this so well. I hope and pray all is well with you in Africa, on your mission.🍀🤟🙏💖🦓Liz in California. 🎉✂️🪡🧵
I’ve always been amazed by this pattern - I convinced myself that whomever makes it has to be expert level at least. I can’t believe how simple you made it look! Now I’m off to find 6 gorgeous panels!!
Stack and wack is back baby! I love that Jenny calls it a Kaleidoscope 🥰 and using 6 panels seems much easier then when we used yardage. Thanks Jenny 💖 (((HUGS)))
This was awesome YAY Jenny!!! I immediately thought of Kaffe Fassett fabrics for this quilt. I’m in absolute love which is odd because I’m a pastel kind of gal. Every single week you manage to surprise & delight me so much. I’m going thrum a difficult time in my life right now. It’s VERY difficult to get my husband diagnosed with dementia it seems. It’s going on a year that nobody wants to diagnose him properly OR try medication ((?) I’m at my wits end not knowing what to do. Jenny thank you for your weekly videos, they bring a bright spot into my life right now. It really helps due to feeling so isolated as though no one wants to help. Bless you & MSQC. Thanks so much.
What a beautiful quilt and SUCH a clever idea. Tfs, Jenny. All the best for 2023 to you, your family and your team of wonderful people at MSQC. Much love from South Africa 🇿🇦
😍 oh my goodness! Now I'm off to the rabbit hole of exploring potential panels! This will move to the top of my ever growing TBSQ (to be sewn and quilted) pile!
OMGOODNESS!!! Love this material. I have made 3 of these quilts already. I must say, this is one of my most favorite patterns for "ugly" material...😆 thanks Jenny
Jenny this is such a wonderful and whimsical technique! I feel sure that no two blocks are alike! Thank you so much for showing this. I like the idea of using the panels! It seems to give more variety than using fabric with repeats!
I made one of these and my guild quilted it. We then raffled it off for the tornado victims in our area. It brought the second highest amount we ever made. I used a black background and everyone loved it. I hated to give it away because I loved it too. I never thought of using panels I will do that next time. Thanks for the great idea.
Omgoodness!!! That is BRILLIANT!! It so beautiful!! My hubby is gonna flip but I am going to look at what MSQC has for panels. I sooo need to make this. Ooh and maybe a table runner and some placemats with one hexi in the middle! Oh boy. The ideas are flowing now! Yay!!
Excellent lesson!!!! Succinct yet thorough. Lovely fabric, good grammar, kind smiley face. All these things are important to me. Thank you so very much.
I really like this. At first I didn't think I'd care for it that much, but the more I watched the better I liked it. It is now on my must make list for 2023!
Omgosh I love this thank you Jenny. The best part is I’m able to get these beautiful panels locally here in Australia, which doesn’t happen often for me after I see fabulous fabrics on your videos. Can’t wait to get started. ❤️
I have six repeats of a stylized solar system fabric stashed away to do this someday. But using 6 x a panel is a terrific shortcut! Thinking off-season holiday panels might be the way to go. Thanks Jenny and QuiltTube commenters!
Love the quilt! The fact that you can turn them and come up with different designs is awesome. Thanks so much for sharing this pattern because when you first started I thought to my self that it was way too hard for me to attempt, but now I think I can make this.
I’m a bit, late watching this video and was not sure it was something I could or would do. I even put the pattern into my basket, then took it out and out it back again as I watched Jenny make the blocks/pieces. And I “got it”!!!!! Just waiting for these panels to come back in stock next month😄. It sure does look simpler than other kaleidoscope quilt patterns I’ve seen. Thank you Jenny for actually helping me make a giant step out of my usual box👍👍👍👍
My local quilt guild taught this block before the pandemic and I still have to finish sewing the blocks. This past October Quilt retreat I actually put together a few of the blocks with ease. Thanks so much for showing the cutting procedure..I had forgotten how. Your quilt fabric is awesome for this pattern!
Jenny…I love you❣️ I loose my sewjo a lot! Maybe it’s because I’m a quilting teacher and not necessarily working on something I need or like. I’ve been waiting for inspiration to hit. And this morning it did in the way of a Jenny tutorial! Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU! I can hardly wait to get started! Wishing you and your a very Happy, Healthy and Blessed New Year❣️
Thank you! So much fun to see the transformation of the original fabric into the kaleidoscope blocks! Your technique makes it ‘doable’ and less intimidating!
Oh my word! A one block wonder! I'm actually on a group on Facebook that I see people's one black wonders but I actually had no idea how they accomplished it! This was so amazing and it actually looks doable for me! Thank you so much Jenny I loved that! The one thing I thought I would never do I might now attempt! 😘
I was ready to head off to bed when I saw this latest video... No way I could put off watching it till tomorrow! Will absolutely have the sweetest dreams of exquisite kaleidoscope quilts! Adore that panel and it's colors! Thank you so much!!! 😺💕🐾
I love kaleidoscope quilts! I'd never thought before about using panels, though. It gives a nice variety of color and pattern to the quilt, while still letting it feel unified.
I love the quilt! Such beautiful colors! Nice to have a completely different process to learn! Wish I had been a fly on the wall watching Jenny get excited as she tried the three different options for each block! Jenny makes quilting fun!
You made me want to try this. You broke down the steps perfectly and made it doable in my brain. I look at his quilt and see lots of possibilities. One I wonder what it would look like if I put a random solid black block here and there to settle it a bit. I wonder if you could cut up more than one panel and combine the blocks...one block from one panel and another block from a different panel. Lots of options to look at and decide on. Such fun! Thanks Jenny!!!
Some notes from my sewing lair: (1) I found that threading dental floss (you could use any sturdy thread) through a needle made a sturdy and secure (I took a stitch and then tied a knot topside of fabric) hold for my fabric. (2) Also worth noting that there is only one straight of grain. So if you are flipping things about, be mindful of bias on the outside edges. (3) If you take a small clip at the top, you will know that is the interior (if you prefer to keep straight of grain on outside). (4) You can square up your hexies by putting triangle corners (in a complementary/contrasting color and create a lovely frame for each block. Happy new year to you and your team.
I did 2 of these quilts many years ago, I was a fairly new quilter, really hard to do,, your instructions are very clear, may try again. I just finished listening to your book, loved it, very inspiring
I absolutely LOVE the idea of using panels! Sometimes I see a panel but just dont buy it because I want it to be more than just the picture. Wonderful and I have so many ideas now! Thansk Jenny and Happy New Year!
Love this technique. Always thought it would be too complicated to try, but you made it do-able. I didn’t quite understand the instructions for using fabric. Will have to think about it. Many thanks for all your instructions. Hope 2023 will be a wonderful year for you and your loved ones.
I love this idea of using panels. I made a kaleidoscope quilt years ago with a tie-dyed print fabric and I loved it, but I never thought of using a panel, how clever! And I could think of so many panels that I would love to use for this. I also laughed at your quote of saying that if you don't like a print, you haven't cut it small enough. I made a chenille quilt using all the fabrics I didn't like because I could hide the hideous ones in the middle and you would never see them as a whole cloth, lol. And as a bonus I made 10" square blocks so I could get rid of them faster. I didn't cut them smaller, I made them bigger. Happy New Year to you and your family! And thank you for all your videos.
Thanks Jenny for doing this Kaleidoscope. I was having trouble with the outside borders and you made it so simple to understand. I didn't won't to cut off my Kaleidoscope at the top and bottom. Thanks for the easy pattern. Have a wonderful New Year.
This is so exciting and creative. It reminds me of a hexagon quilt my husband's grandmother made many years ago. I'm so looking forward to making this soon. Thank you so much for making this tutorial.
Love this!!! Jenny makes everything so exciting and I can’t wait to try this! I love everyone’s suggestions too. I’m a re-learner and everything helps! 🎉🎉🎉
Wonderful tutorial! Thank you Jenny! Would love to make one this next year but, I already have a full calendar. Put this on my to do for the next year….gives me time to find just the right panels too. So thankful for your videos as I can always go back and find what I want to make. Have a blessed New Year!
I loved this video makes it so simple I have wanted to do one of these quilts for quite awhile but was just not sure I could get it all lined up correctly you explained & I understood on my to do list asap.
I have all the stuff to make one of these quilts - but haven't been brave enough to cut it yet! I may make that a goal for 2023 - you make it look so easy!
That quilt looks awesome, I have made one of those quilts awhile ago and it was a lot of fun. Seeing your one makes me want to do another one. Thanks for your tutorials I always enjoy them.
What a fabulous video! I use the exact same technique when doing my chenille panels, so I'm well versed on the method and how long it takes. But the rewards are so worth it! Thanks for sharing, Jenny!
The technique that helped me keep the panels lined up perfectly was to use a threaded needle and actually take one stitch to keep the images steady.
Love this idea!
Ooh that is brilliant!! I hope you dont mind if I steal that idea! 😊
Great idea! No shifting or pins to get in the way! Thanks !
Love this pattern and will be looking for fabric
Very clever - thank you for sharing your tip!!!

Thank you so much for sharing. We are so happy that you found quilting and Jenny! Quilters are amazing people, You are an amazing person! ❤️
You can also find the repeat on yardage by looking at the wording on the selvage. Every time the wording repeats is your repeat of fabric.
Thank you for this tip!
I’ve made four of them, amazed at how different they look. Love seeing yours, Jenny. The most recent one I did, I bought 7 panels, stacked and cut the six, used the last one as the center of my quilt. FUN!

Using 6 Abra-Cat-Debra panels to try this for Halloween bed quilt. Excited thanks for the tutorial.

How fun to see each cut set come to life three different ways! Jenny you look so cute with your glasses. I'm at that age now too . Happy New Years ! 🎉
What a beautiful quilt and SUCH a clever idea. Tfs, Jenny. All the best for 2023 to you, your family and your team of wonderful people at MSQC. Much love from South Africa 🇿🇦

Join the club!!! I’m sure there’s lots of quilts just waiting to be quilted!!!
Omg. I LOVE this. Anyone else thinking Kaffe fabric would be awesome in this?
OMGOODNESS!!! Love this material. I have made 3 of these quilts already. I must say, this is one of my most favorite patterns for "ugly" material...😆 thanks Jenny
I love this technique. I have made 3 quilts so far. All the cutting is done at one time but each block is unique! Simple yet never boring!
Jenny this is such a wonderful and whimsical technique! I feel sure that no two blocks are alike! Thank you so much for showing this. I like the idea of using the panels! It seems to give more variety than using fabric with repeats!
Gorgeous quilt! Oh the possibilities. This would make a great triple play tutorial. I am sure Misty would go for the 3" cuts!!! So pretty. TFS. ❤️
Jenny this Kaleidoscope quilt reminds me of the toy I had as a child. The colors are so much like the memory I have.❤😊

Wow! That's gorgeous! Thank you for making it a do-able kaleidoscope!
I just finished making my first Kaleidescope quilt after watching triple play. Thank you.

I was intrigued by this method over 15 yrs ago. Still haven't made one. You've got me thinking what difficult piece of fabric do I have on hand.
This quilt idea has always seemed so complicated 😳 but yet again you have made it look achievable 🎉 Thanks Jenny 👏👏🇬🇧
Happy New Year 👍

Jenny makes quilting fun!
This quilt definitely has the WOW factor. It's gorgeous. Thank you for showing us how to make it.
Loved your kaleidoscope quilt! Extra bonus that you are a lefty as am I. I so appreciate it when I can follow along with a right brained creator!

Love these thoughts so many ideas!!
One knows pins are important when Jenny is using multiple pins. lol 😁
Thank you so much Jenny. This is wonderful and so easy!

Happy New Year Doan family and the MSQC team. Didn’t think I would like this one. I love love love this design. The quilt is so beautiful!
I absolutely LOVE the idea of using panels! Sometimes I see a panel but just dont buy it because I want it to be more than just the picture. Wonderful and I have so many ideas now! Thansk Jenny and Happy New Year!
With one more panel as the center, we could border it with a row or two of kaleidoscopes so we could show what we started with!
This is the easiest kaleidoscope quilt tutorial I've seen yet! Thanks Jenny!
Love this technique. Always thought it would be too complicated to try, but you made it do-able. I didn’t quite understand the instructions for using fabric. Will have to think about it. Many thanks for all your instructions. Hope 2023 will be a wonderful year for you and your loved ones.

oh Jenny I could watch your tutorials all day long!! thank you so much
I just love the colors in this quilt.
Thank you Jenny for a fun idea. I enjoyed your video muchly!
Omgoodness, I have got to try this, BTW, I am left-handed and bday is June 15
It's like Spirograph!
I love this new pattern idea! I need to look thru my stash for a good repeating fabric! Thank you, Jenny!
Dont't forget that you seam allowance will take up a lot of that "pretty center". These quilts are a lot of fun
Gorgeous, and possibilities are endless! Almost a Mystery quilt because you have so many choices and color palettes 🎨. Love it!!
I love that you made the strips 5 inches. So many patterns call for 3 inch strips and it becomes very daunting with so many pieces
Love this quilt. The brighter the better I say. You are very clever Jenny. Love from Australia.
Thanks Jenny for doing this Kaleidoscope. I was having trouble with the outside borders and you made it so simple to understand. I didn't won't to cut off my Kaleidoscope at the top and bottom. Thanks for the easy pattern. Have a wonderful New Year.
I like the border included, too, that way I don't have to add it myself for sashing. It gives definition between the kaleidoscopes.
This is what I learned as a stack and wack. So much fun to make. I've made a couple of quilts like this.
Csodaszép, köszönöm az ötletet! Boldog újévet kívánok!
As always, I loved your tutorial. I will be on the prowl for a colorful panel ❣️ Thank you.
This is a gorgeous quilt
I made this one 19 years ago and love it .. this has inspired me to make another one 😊
🎉🎉🎉
I love the idea of using panels for this. Working with yardage can get a little crazy. Thanks!
I haven't been so excited about a quilt in a long time. The pinning seems intimidating but I think I'm just going to go for it . Thank you!
I love watching Jenny!
Wonderful tutorial! Thank you Jenny! Would love to make one this next year but, I already have a full calendar. Put this on my to do for the next year….gives me time to find just the right panels too. So thankful for your videos as I can always go back and find what I want to make. Have a blessed New Year!

This is so pretty!! I'll start looking for a couple panels that are very colorful & cut them following your instructions. TY Jenny Doan!!
Thanks Jenny - this makes this technique seem easy and fun! Have bought my first 6 panels and can't wait to start.
I have all the stuff to make one of these quilts - but haven't been brave enough to cut it yet! I may make that a goal for 2023 - you make it look so easy!
Its an amazing technique and resulted, i Love the kaleidoscope effect, marvellous quilt. Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱
That quilt looks awesome, I have made one of those quilts awhile ago and it was a lot of fun. Seeing your one makes me want to do another one. Thanks for your tutorials I always enjoy them.
