What's Up Y'all! I thought I'd do an experiment comparing shingling to raking and smoothing. I typically rake and smooth, but a lot of people prefer shingling so I thought I would find out what all the hype was about. I hope you enjoy the video!

Just a heads up for next time as far as shingling, all you have to do is use the 3-row comb and it literally separates your hair strands exactly the same way your fingers do only without the time, quick, easy and shingled 😉

Shingling definitely takes longer but gives more definition while rake and smooth clumps my hair and give more volume for me so that's wht I prefer

I detangle my hair in small sections throughout my four big sections. Then apply the gel after I have moisturized my hair the day before. I learned from you to not brush (vent) my hair after I apply the gel and that works. My hair likes the smoothing method and the shingling method. I like the shingling method because the curls are separated compared to the raking method because your curls are clinging to each other.

Both sides look great! I can not tell a noticeable difference, but raking & shingling does give a more clumped look in my opinion.

Shingling takes too much time. I'm too impatient for that. By the time I get to the front I dont even care anymore. 😏 I just start doing it any old how. 😄 Your results are always beautiful.

Shingling definitely takes longer and while it looks similar when I do it, it does give more individual curls but I think my curls look misshapen. I prefer to have them clumped then separate once it’s dry. Shingling is not worth the time! Thanks for this comparison!
