fyi, dji literally says on their site that the mini 2 works with mavic mini batteries but not vice versa
I use mini in the mini se no problem detectable...

Wonder if it would fly about less with heavier battery? More weight to accelerate and stop? Not sure if that is any different than hovering with more weight.

@@Keeganshero13 how would they know your drone is over 250G though, its a mini 2 and they cant see the inside of it. How will they tell its a mini 1 battery and is more heavy.
How much more power does the 4k camera consume, compared to the 2.7k camera

Yes
Mini2 is in N mode. Mini1 in P mode. Will this hv effect on flight time?
N and P are actually the same mode. DJI renamed the P mode with the Mini 2.

Next video, put two Mini 2 batteries in parallel and use in Mini 1 to see some crazy flight times. Edit: There is a modified circuit board for Mini 1 to enable custom battery modifications.
Hah, I wonder how the extra weight would affect battery life. I'm sure you'll get more hours but maneuverability would take a hit.
@@PilotInstitute I don't think it would be that bad. Mini 2 batteries seem to be quite a bit lighter and more powerful, and there are vids around with Mini 1 modified with even heavier load flying seemingly well. At least it should result in a 60+ min hover if nothing else.

I noticed in your test had the mini in performance mode and mini 2 in normal mode. I wonder if that would change the battery times?
It does! Performance mode allows you to fly faster and in turn decreases battery life.

I wonder if the Mini 2 will overcharge the Mini 1 batteries to 3.7V? Very interesting because the low cutoff voltage on the mini 2 is slightly higher which is better for the mini 1 battery. It would be hard to cycle out these batteries but its good to know.
I did but got a low voltage warning so personally won’t use them again even though they did work. I ordered couple Mini 2 batteries today from DJI were back in stock.
Weird. Never got a warning or issues in a few test flights. Are you on the most recent firmware?
@@PilotInstitute 😂 that’s because you’re not me! It did happen for real the first time doing this because I flew all my Mini 2 batteries and had a bunch of Mini 1 batteries with me. I was hesitant to fly with them and figured why not try and got some low voltage warning and made the call to not do that again. I’m sure fine but rather play it safe 110% for me.
@@PilotInstitute u got a low battery voltage....fly with caution too I’m watching the video now. That’s what I got.
@@AtortAerials Well the low battery warning happens with any battery once you deplete it enough. It showed at the same time for both drones actually. It showed in the other battery test I made too with the battery it came with. That's normal. If you get it on take off, that's an issue, but it really shouldn't be unless your batteries are depleted before you put them in.
@@PilotInstitute I believe I did get it mid flight....not when landing with battery low I’m almost certain.
Pretty Sure that they will only fly w Mavic mini batteries. Mini w mini battery, Mini 2 w mini battery..🤔

So you didn't notice any performance difference between two batteries? Speed? Wind resistance?
No, it seemed to perform exactly the same. I flew it around for a while on a different battery after the test.

It’s worth pointing out that the Mini 2 has LiPo batteries as opposed to the older tech Li-ion batteries in the original Magic Mini - the two chemistries offer differing performance and are designed for the needs of the drone they’re being used in. Don’t mess around with using incorrect batteries - just use what’s designed for the drone you’re flying!
