Here are 10 Cinematic DRONE Moves To Fly Like a PRO! - ruclips.net/video/2DIFTkKrvzM/видео.html
It’s super effective to water land it while doing Stand up Paddle
For me I fly the Mavic 2 Pro with water landing gear whenever I am flying over any kind of water. I don’t care to land or take off the water but if your drone for any reason crashes into the water it will sink to the bottom of the lake, ocean etc. If the drone has water landing gear on it, then it makes it much easier to recover the drone.
Exactly…
Yeah
Good choice!
Word!
Yes I must admit ending up in the drink is my concern, especially as I live on a barge and am more than a little concerned about it ending up in the water, very tricky catching a drone when trying to steer 25 tones of boat when you know if you take your hands of the tiller it all goes tits up very quickly 😂
I think the water floats are more used as a safeguard device when flying over water in case of an unplanned landing
Hi Mathew,
I would say one really good benefit of using the Drone Floats is if you have a DJI Care Refresh coverage and you have a mishap in water, the replacement fee for a "flyaway" (unrecoverable) incident versus a recoverable damaged drone (where you can send it back to DJI) is (in the USA) $235 vs. $65. I learned this the hard way a few weeks ago when I attempted to take off from a (very slowly) moving sailboat. My operator error and not thinking about taking off from a moving vessel! I hovered at eye-level but didn't think about the boat moving and the guy wire from the main mast stuck my Mini 3 Pro and it plummeted into the water, only to see it drop like a rock! Unrecoverable. So, I had to pay $170 more since I could not recover the drone!
The water floats are not for landing in water as far as I am concerned - they are a great safety device if needing to get footage over deep water. If something goes wrong and the drone falls out of the sky, the floats give you a chance of recovering the drone. Drones are to expensive to not use Locator tags and if needing to get risky over water, floatation devices. I cannot see the need to deliberately land in water, but accidents do happen, and I want to get my drone back when it happens.
Great video. I have the floats for my Mavic 2 Pro and Enterprise Dual. When doing bridge inspections I put them on the drone as a precaution. You can loose GPS AND signal to the drone which will cause it to hover and if control is not re-established then the drone will land at that spot which normally means in the water. Just thought I'd throw out a use case.
"If your DJI drone loses connection with the controller for more than 11 seconds, the failsafe RTH mode will be enabled automatically and the drone will return to the preset home point. If the GPS signal is also lost, the drone will hover, then land in place instead of returning to home. "
100%, I lost my Mavic Air to the North Atlantic because these were in my amazon shopping cart instead of on the drone
I’m desperate for a drone for kayaking trips but this is what concerns me. The functionality of the models I can afford make ditching a higher possibility. I can’t land it in my kayak or it will get wet. I cant drop my paddle to catch it without likely moving away from under it. It seems that if I lose signal, the cheaper drones return to launch point rather than your last known location which means I can’t risk launching on the water. I had no idea drone floats were a thing until I watched this video. Absolute game changer. Even if they just buy me five minutes on flat water to retrieve it. I’ll modify pool noodles to have spare dry floats to save flying with unbalanced and heavy wet ones. If you have any other tips for flying over water I’d be very grateful to hear them 🙏👌
@@juliemacgregor9289 if your drone uses gps, make sure you have lots of satellites visible. That’s how I lost mine. I had 10, which is the ‘minimum’ so I figured I was ok. Not sure how many I lost but it was enough that gps signal was lost, it couldn’t return to home, and it set itself down in the water. There’s a handy app called UAV forecast that can assist you in knowing when it’s good to fly :)
@@nathansmees1471 thank you!!
Just a quick note, my friend flew his drone under a bridge and it lost it's signal and flew straight up into the underside of the bridge and then crashed into the river, I live on a lake and never plan to land on the water, I want the floats incase I mess up over the lake or an eagle decides its lunch and damages it. I also like to fly over some of the streams and rivers near my place.
I love this video, great job.
Thanks for explaining the nd filters. So many people touch on that as a must have but don't go into detail. I don't have a premium drone yet but I'll be adding these once I get it.
Tipped by your vid, I bought the floaters which serve me really well hovering fish filled waters! I can land on the water, give it a few minits and then film fish from really close up. Getting out of the water was also flawless, thanks to the incredible stable DJI Mini2. When not above water, I leave the leg extenders on so I can land even on higher grass (lots of farm land around here) or rough terrain out of reach of my hands like you suggested. I use my camera to film wild life and that means patiently putting it down on remote locations. Now accessible thanks to having a drone!
I still think I'll like to have floats for over water flying in my case, as a security measure, not for normal landing strategy, maybe not those or applying some kind of layer to keep water out of the floats.
a plastic layer would be good I think
Could probably just use some spray paint that has that rubberized consistency..
Spray the floats with Hair Spray (or Photo Mat spray) and they won't absorb and will shead water faster.
I just bought my mini 2. I must confess I have been missing a lot not flying before now. Thanks a lot for all your videos about drones
A drone over water is bad enough, but landing on water? Noooooo way ! The other stuff is definitely a must
Most drones are already coated in corrosion x but if not it’s easy to do it yourself and everything will be just fine after you blow off the circuit board and with pool noodle it’s not gonna sink.
If you are doing a lot of over water flying that floats could be useful. But you would be better off taping two empty water bottles to your drone than pool noodle foam.
Hey Brennan, you forgot a major reason why somebody would want to have floaties for their drone! They are brand new to flying yet, they are flying it off a boat and they are deathly afraid of losing it to the deep blue Sea! The floats are at least a security blanket if nothing else! As for the spongy material, it could easily be replaced with the same or something else!
Lowepro Viewpoint AW BP250.
Best back pack I've ever bought. Has a small customisable gadget bag that slots into the base of it that carried my mavic pro drone, two spare batts and the controller then the top half holds the charger and spare props with room for more stuff and a tablet/ laptop pocket on the rear to top it off with two front pockets for small items.
Sadly long since discontinued but if you find one second hand, seriously consider it. It is amazing.
The water floats can be used in landing softly on hard surfaces and can act at bumper guards
It comes with better guards and it automatically lands softly
It also provides confidence when flying over water, when in a boat for example, you would know that even if you f it up the drone will just land onto the water waiting for you to pick it up. But really it's a 1 in 100 situation no one will find themselves in on a daily basis.
Yes, but they add weight to the drone and modify his aerodinamics...
(but yes they can be useful if you're at the sea doing shoots very near to the water or you need to land on it)
This isbthe absolutely best explanation of ND filters. Your is the only one I have seen that makes sense and I understand what they are used for now
So much great information Matthew! I was lucky enough to win a DJI mini SE but decided to upgrade to the Mini 2 and only received it two days ago, had my first flight yesterday. I’ve been following your channel for some weeks now. Awesome content and I have most of the accessories you mentioned but need good editing software. Adobe Pro is what I’ll eventually get. So expensive for us weekend drone enthusiasts. Keep up the great work and cheers from Australia 🇦🇺 👍🏼
Just realized I asked you how you were finding the Mini SE, doh. Tiredness, I apologize. I meant to ask how are you finding the Mini 2?
The bag that comes with it is great! I was chuffed with it. But yes I think you're right and if I want to expand my kit, I should upgrade to backpack
I still use DJI original shoulder bag for carrying my Mini 2. Though I keep that bag in my backpack anyways, allows me to keep things organized better. I'd say ND filters is the most important accessory when it comes to video quality. Using same Freewell All-day pack. I wouldn't be able to get my cinematics without it. Great and interesting video! And thanks for sharing your LUTs, interestiing to see what you came up with!
The shoulder bag is great. If I am just out with the drone ONLY, I will tend to use it. But for a drone and some camera gear, it's just too small and a backpack tends to be the answer. Thanks for watching, appreciate it.
New Drone enthusiast, and this is absolutely the BEST video I have come across so far! TONS of great information. And yes, Matheww, I *am* now Subscribed!
這部影片讓我更了解mini2配件的功能,期待更多關於nd濾鏡的影片喔~~謝謝
Sorry, what?
I recently got my first drone, mini 2, with the hope of flying it over our little yacht club on an island in the California Delta. So when I bought it of course I included the floats because I'm flying over water. Duh. After learning a bit about the drone (thanks for all your videos) I immediately concluded that there was no way the drone would be landing in the water; it will land where I want it to. However I have had great fun taking off and landing in the hot tub in the back yard. But I won't be using them in the Delta.
I will point out that flying with the floats on decreases flying time by nearly half.
Hey Matthew. I just bought the backpack yesterday from Amazon..arrived today…It’s perfect for
Mini 2
Ipad air 4
4 batteries
Ipad holder
Extra accessories
Nikon D7000
Tamron 70-200
Sigma 30mm..
Strobe light (for the mini2)
..all in this backpack
Thanks
Wow - that's great! It really is the perfect size for all your gear, but not way too big to be inconvenient.
I use this landing water kit for my Hubsan Zino Mini Se and works just fine, i use for when i paddling with my SUP on the lake :)
8:00 - those floats would be absolutely ideal for me, I have an 8x8 amphibious vehicle, and intend to have a drone track me as I float it. the ability to land and take off from water would be a godsend - as I often film in locations where RTL is not a viable option because of the uneven or heavily vegetated terrain.
12:28 - I'd use or make a car charger - or a sine-wave inverter.
An issue might be the splash the rotors create as you take off and land. Since most DJI drones have no water resistance, you might find water incursion into your drone from the spray.
@@chuckschillingvideos yeah in the 2 years since this comment, I have since found better methods
I do most of my drone flying over water and have crashed one drone into a river. If I’d had floats on it, I’d have been able to recover it. I doubt people want to land their drones on water but it’s a good idea to have something that prevents sinking in the event of a crash
I land my drone on my pool cuz it’s cool. Corrosion X makes it water proof and I’ve gotten it completely submerged multiple times and it works perfectly still just have to blow the circuit board off with an air compressor
Yeah when I get mine there's a giant lake right next to my house. Kinda river shaped (fairly narrow) and a few miles long. Be great Incase something went wrong and could end up saving you a couple hundred dollars.
Thanks for your recommendations. Great video as always. Looking for the link for the LUTS.
As far as the power bank id like to point out that the DJI controller is capable of recharging the Drones batteries 9 times on a full charge. This also works with the fly more charging hub. The power bank would be useful if you wanted to fly and charge batteries at the same time and could probably do it quicker.
Dang that’s sick i never knew that
Bought my Mini 2 for my upcoming never-ending around-the-world bicycle tour. So space is at a premium on my Specialized bike. The standard case if just fine and even accepts my ND filter pack with no conflict (which I purchased after seeing this video).
Thanks for explaining why my drone needed ND filters! I had no clue! (First drone)
Fly safe!
Since I'll be 'across the pond' in 2023, anything I should be aware of before flying my drone?
Be careful about checking the laws in the places you will be. Every county has different laws on how when and where your drone can be flown. General guidelines include not flying over people without express permission. Never flying over moving cars and checking fly and no fly zones for each country. If you are originally from the US and plan on using your footage in any commercial application (ie anything that you or another person/ company makes money off of) you do have to have a Federal drone pilots license. They aren’t super hard to get but there are limited testing centers and dates. If you have any other questions please feel free to comment back. I am currently licensed in the US and am more than happy to help
Great vid, I’m thinking about the ND filters but so many options when looking at them. I’m planning on using my drone in Australia so be pretty sunny, wondering what filters would you recommend for a sunny environment thanks.
Hi Matthew,
you have great videos, it's great how Premiere Pro shows, how you show how the color changes, you choose from the Drone LUTs folder, and I don't have it there.
Thank you very much for the advice.
Hi, great videos and tutorials, just love your channel! I actually got the floaties when I bought my mini 2 and since I'm going to be mostly filming at the lake I could see my self using it as a fail safe type of thing. As a newbie I could totally see my self flying out of battery and not updating the home point if my boat is moving so eventually the drone would land on water and I could still go and save it :D
Hi Matthew. I should have watched this video before leaving a question on one of your other videos about ND filters. I had asked if you still like the Pgytech and am delighted you mentioned them here as I just received a set of 4 for $52.00 CDN. Thanks for all your help and advice.
Either set are great - hope they help you get great cinematic shots. Thanks for watching.
A landing pad, ND Filter, landing legs extension, Power bank are all what you need. Freewell ND Filters are just too expensive. The Sunnylife ND filters are just as good and do a good a job. A drone hand-catch can be very dangerous, one time I was distracted by a hand catch and the props cut my fingers.
Love it!
I have some of those floats but I have not used them yet. I might be a good suggestion to wrap them in cling film to stop them soaking up water.
I've watched a few of your Vids and this one was the 'subscribe' one. The bit on LUTS was the decider. Thanks 👍
Welcome along, really appreciate having your support.
Thanks man, this is exactly what I need 🤟👍
Oddly enough, I also carry 2 drones and relevant accessories in a Lowepro Tahoe BP 150! It is a fantastic backpack, however when I need to carry drones, camera, GoPro, and all the accessories that are needed with that kind of load out, I switch to the Lowepro Flipside 300! I actually prefer the back access to the Flipside, (once I got used to it) but for light days, the Tahoe does great!
The Lowepro Tahoe BP 150 is my workhorse. I can get the Mini 3 Pro and Mavic 3 in it if I am just heading out to record with the drones. Or I can get the Mini 3 Pro, my Sony camera, mics, filters and all the accessories with a tripod strapped to the side. Very impressed with its versatility and compact size!
Do you have to use premier pro to use your 10 color grading luts
Thanks Matt, great video
I imagine the floats would be best to get s specific shot while taking off from calm water but I don’t fancy it.
Thanks man, really helpful again! Si
The polarised clip... 🤩 Honestly thought it was an graphic at first
Very good, no, EXCELLENT accessories recommendations. I’ve been looking for a drone plus accessories carrying case, and you nailed it. Also I never thought about a power pack. Until now. So thank you, Matthew for this very thoughtful presentation.
Glad I could help, and thank you for your kind feedback.
I watched your videos and also bought freewell ND filters but only 4 of these .. and for a bag i ordered GOPRO daytripper and 20 000 mha power bank. .
That's and ingenious idea!
Amazing videos, likes and subscribed... just getting started with mine and I'm still learning, but an amazing bit of kit it is.... Happy droning peeps!
Love your video bro, I'm getting a DJI mini , wich one you recommend 2 with a lot of accesories or the 3 pro?
Great video. Can I use these suggested filters on my DJI Mini (one)?
Just bought a mini 2 as my first drone. Haven't flown it yet. Planning to use it for filming surfers. I am thinking combination nd/pl filters would be better than standard nd filters for use over water. Does that make sense or am I missing something?
Thank u, Matt, Very helpful!
Thanks for a great video, I’m a new mini 2 user. Quick question, will Luts work with iMovie?
Your videos are informative for that reason I subscribed. thank you keep them coming. I didnt buy the mavic 2S just yet.. after Thanksgiving I'm going to. as far as power bank goes , I have an AC outlet in my car. so that's not an issue.. I can just plug the charger directly in.
Glad I can help. Have fun flying!
I have bought some of those floaties for my Mavic Pro 2. They are good for safety, and all, but there were a lot of times, when you they would show up in the corners of my photos and if I did pano or anything creative, they would get in the photo. Also, you have to remember that they can catch wind and if you stretch your flight, they might have difficulty making it back....even if it is over land. Overall, they are ok.
Yes. The floats add weight and drag and may alter the flight characteristics of your drone.
Awesome!
Happy Flying!
Thank you for millionth explanation of what motion blur is.😀
I know, I need to cut back on that 😂. Thanks for watching - appreciate it.
one little bit of advice using a polarizer with the wide angle of view of the drones, can hav a problem. it can darken one side of the bue shy and not the other so you do not have an even sky
great vid i have a dji mavic mini 2 se & was curious if you know anything about the follow me mode i read up?
the water float thing could be useful for landing/taking off on snow
Great review and video!
Do you recommend buying ND filter with PL for videos only and ordinary ND filter for still photos?
And about the PowerBank, Amazon does not sell them at the moment, could you recommend another?
Again great video and now i'm part of the 14,7 % who is subscribing to your channel ;)
Is it possible to buy the Fly More combo separately? As in buy the drone from one place and the combo from another?
Hey Matheww for the vid, very informative and no I am not putting floats on my drone
Thankyou for this information :)
Sorry where is thé link to the powerbank because I cannot sée it and want one for black friday
can you add cinematic motion blur post process thus avoid the need of ND filters?
Great content! I've been shopping around for better gear, and this is super helpful! Also, was that Dunluce castle in one of your opening shots? Great stuff!
Great spot - it is Dunluce Castle! Thanks for the kind feedback, appreciate it.
@@TheDroneCreative It's a lovey place. I hope to visit it again someday. Again, great content--I'm totally looking forward to your future vids! Stay safe!
great video thanks, tried to download the free creative pack but it tries to charge me, am i doing it wrong?
I was thinking, maybe you can spray the floats with polyurethane spray or something to keep them from absorbing water? Not sure, but it might help.
I'm going to order the water mounts because my worry is losing my drone in the sky and I think with the orange foam I will be able to see it better.
Filters are a must if you want proper motion blur. All the rest is a waste. I don't even use the case, that stays in the truck. I carry a battery bag with a shoulder strap that holds the controller with phone, 2 batteries and the Mini 2 that has one battery in it and a filter on it. Sometimes I use the smart controller and leave the stock controller in the truck in the mini's bag. The mini or mini 2 you don't even need a landing pad when flying in a sandy area, just land it in your hand.
Great Video!
If you have dji care and doing flights over water then the floats are a must. A failed battery or you make a mistake, If you can recover the drone, you can use dji care. Even if it lands in rough water and turns over. No drone recovery means no insurance.
The floats would seem to be highly useful to those of us fishermen who use drones to drop bait where we are unable to cast accurately due to distance or obstructions.
The floating kit is the only one that has looked useful to me so far
I get the whole power bank thing they are very useful but surely you can recharge the drone batteries from your in car charger ?
When traveling via ✈️ , do you check-in or carry-on your “drone 🎒”?… I would prefer to carry-on but wonder if “TS@“ would have issues with the batteries/powerbank.
Could the water floats be coated in waterproof varnish to avoid absorbsion?
I'd like to know if somehow I can stick my GoPro Hero 10 on the DJI Mini 2...
Great video 👍
What about propeller shield?
I want to buy an DJI Mini 3 pro with some propeller shield.
Any tips for it?
Signed up for the FREE Drone Creative Pack - great website.
If I buy your LUTs pack, will it work on iMovie for iPad?
Hi mate sorry what was the name of the software you use ? I’m very new to the drone scene and very much an amateur RUclipsr but I want to improve my filming and editing
One accessory that I take with me every time is my sunshade for my phone that reduces glare on my screen making it much easy to see in bright light.
What sun shade do you have?
@@Chilllybob It's a SunnyLife folding leather magnetic hood. I had a bit of a game getting one to fit as I opted to get one of the biggest phones going because I'm long sighted.
@@tonysutton6559 thank you..
A really great video, sub'd
EXCELLENT !!!!!!!!!!!
Agree 100% with the water landing gear. Would not dream of adding it to the my Mini 2. I have a drone that can do all that and is totaly waterproof and can fly in snow as well.
What drone is that?
@@TheDroneCreative: It's the awesome Spry Drone. Costs around €1000. Films under water as well, when on the water.
Does your LUTS works in Air 2S videos? All ready suscribed. Very interesting and usefull videos. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
this guys voice is so comforting
Those floats are good if your drone disconnects suddenly over water could be a lifesaver.
it carrys 2 full drones and a go pro and accessories 👌 well worth the money.
hi, i am planning to get mini 2 and i wonder if it works fine with my current phone huawei Y9. android 10 with RAM 4gb. thanks
See, why does it say FREE but when you go to the Download, it won't let you proceed without entering a figure in the 'What you think it is worth' box! And you sound so sincere in your videos, Mattheww!
Sorry, it's a limitation of the platform! I can't turn that off - but all you have to do is enter 0. Thanks!
thanks brennan
If you have DJI Care Refresh plan, wouldn’t it be good to use the float landing when flying near water (say if you’re out kayaking or canoeing)? If the drone accidentally flies into the water, at least it might float and allow you an opportunity to retrieve it and get a replacement from the DJI Care Refresh program? Thanks for your videos!
You sir have just got yourself a new subscriber
Floats are just a safety measure for Peeps using around water.
It’s nit for making a Boat/drone..It’s A Safety net for special times..(windy near water, in case the battery drains whilst over water…).
What an amazing drone! =)
Seems to me that the foam floaties waterlogging problem would be reduced or solved altogether by hitting them with some rattlecan krylon.
Will the Mav filters fit on a Bugs 16 pro?
