QUICKTAKE
1. manual white balance
2. lock exposure in
3. expose darker (-.3, -.7 or -1) than default
4. use ND filters ("sunglasses" for your lens)
5. fly close to objects too
6. get different angles/directions
7. tell a story (close to medium to wide is a basic guide)
8. go top-down! Only drones and helicopters can get this perspective
9. create contrast with your light. Don't blast everything with light
10. put the sun off to the SIDE
11. shoot early in the morning or late in the day (golden hour is BEST)
12. editing: bring midtones down and shadows UP for an easy cinematic grade
13. no jerky footage
14. stabilize in post
15. copy other drone footage you like to watch
Thanks dude
I think the whole point of RUclips is to watch the video rather than read a tutorial? I could be wrong though
@@palaHD yes but it is also a lot of information and this is a quick list that easy to glance at as a reminder for any of the sections
Awesome write up. I want to take some pics of my pos for sure. So are we recording and taking the images from there or is the camera good enough to take pics?
Yes, same with life.. Varying perspectives is always important! 😊
I feel like if I keep watching you I’m get better. Just got my mini 2 today and blown away how good it is.
Pays a lot to know your equipment and know what you're doing. I've always struggled with tricky lighting. Now I know how expoure control does wonders.
Really really great stuff here Jeven.
Beautiful with the dusting of snow!
Enjoyed hearing your comments on overcoming some of the limitations on this awesome little drone, esp. how to improve the quality without having a flat profile...
Thank you for this tutorial ❤ I just watched this one, from setup to drone flying - I got a great quickstart for my first aerial photography!
Such great advice. Never disappoints! Thanks!!!! 👊🏽
Just a quick thank you Jeven. I'm very late to your channel but just wanted to take a moment to share my appreciation. I'm coming to drone filming from a still photography background and the knowledge that you've shared across the videos that I've watched so far have fast tracked my skills. 👏
Can’t thank you enough for all of your drone videos. I have learned so much, keep up the great work!
The content I need!!! Thanks you for all the awesome tips! will definitely apply them
It’s true ! Have u applied the tips?
Thanks for the tips Jeven! Let's keep creating amazing content! 👍💪
Hey Jeven, loved this video and all of your content. its so helpful. Its literally exacatly what I needed to learn and its compressed into one video. I got the DJI mini 2 at Xmas and I cant wait to shoot more with it. THANK YOU! James
Thank you, this was inspiring. Here I was, pondering that I should get a drone. Then I realized, that there’s so much more I can do with my cameras just by applying the close up to medium to wide into my shooting and editing process. And really, when I’ve got that working for me, maybe then it’s time to look at a drone for those really wide shots.
Excellent tips - I especially like the one about choosing the side of the subject that puts it most in contrast with the environment. Thanks - awesome video :)
Shooting shadow side makes a huge difference for sure! Really cool tips thank you.
These are excellent tips coming straight from the cinematographers handbook. And not just for drone footage.
Thanks for your tips. I just bought mini 2 and I'm very happy with the footage I get and with the size of the drone:)
I always wait for the right time of the day where the sun hits the spot/location I want to shoot, it's like the sun is my spotlight!
Amazing footage, thank you for sharing your experiences 👍
Spoken like a true professional! Thanks a lot. Loved it 👍
I’ve never flown a drone before so I opted for the dji mavic mini to practice on something cheap but I’m looking forward to learning all about it with videos like this. I do have some experience with photography and camera settings but this is going to be new for sure. Good work.
Great tips and very clearly explained. Looking forward to getting my first drone this summer, definitely gonna get the DJI Mini 2.
Thanks Jeven! Great tips. Love your videos. They are very useful
Excellent video, all great tips! Noticed the same on the mid tones. Thanks for the post!
Don’t own a drone , but all your points make a lot of sense . Thank you for explaining everything so well. Your points have so many applications.
Great advice you are giving. Lots of gems👍🏽
Thanks a lot, dear Jeven! Love these simple but profound filming and editing tip a lot! Thanks man! Wishing you good from Vietnam!
Glad you enjoyed it! Can't wait to visit Vietnam again. Hopefully travel will open back up next year
Excellent tips that are right to the point.
Cool tips ! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world !
Thanks for that video! There is so much value in it.
Excellent video and tips! Thank you so much!
Great video man. Thanks for all the tips!
Some super solid advice Jeven. Plan to put these techniques into action on my next shoot 👍
BRILLIANT video. Thanks man!!!
Excelllent video. Love the examples of what not to do as well - not just of what works. Appreciate the effort it took to do all this, subbed
Very informative and quick video, love it! Subscribed. Got my mini 2 two weeks ago and I need to learn so much (more).
Great tutorial, thank you! I will definitely will use your tips in my next video!
Tutto chiaro e senza tante parole inutili !!! Grazie👍
I've noticed the time of day stays relevant, even when the sky is completely covered by clouds and you are inside.
Shooting during the golden hour just gives the best picture.
So true! I always wait for the right time of the day where the sun hits the spot/location I want to shoot, it's like the sun is my spotlight !
I think the use of an ND filter and time of day is ultra important. The lighting plays a huge role in the shots. Thanks for the video!
Man you are awesome. literally got my very first drone and watched all your mini 2 related content.
Just the kind of video I was looking for. Thanks for the tips!
useful and clear - well done!
Superb! Such professional production is rare to find
Just bought this drone. Can't wait to learn. Great info. Thx.
This was so informative! Thank you very much
GREAT tutorial. so much info told in such an easy way. top notch! ;-)
Another excellent vlog Jeven. Thanks
Looking forward to trying these tips out, thanks Jev
Thank you for this useful information!
Supergood! Inspiring! Thanks alot!
Great info. Thank You!
Great video. As far as locking the AE to underxpose a bit, I fully agree. I've been a photographer for 40 years, and that was one of the tricks used, espcially with invertible film, to saturate colors and overall getting a better image. I've also noticed that on DSLR it works exactly the same, a little underxposure (1/3 to 1/2 f/stop below) gives the best results. Being digital, the same applies to drones. Well done !
Great Advice. Thank You
Pretty good video and advises! Thanks
Beautiful footage 👍 can’t wait to get my mini 2
Fantastic advice! Thanks!
Your content is the best!
Awesome video! Thanks for the tips
Great video, thank you
Great tips. I’m very experienced in still photography and pretty good with Photoshop, but video editing is a whole new ballgame. Thanks for sharing you expertise with us.
I am a beginner travel vlogger, just love your tutorials & tips, its very helpful. Thanks
Holy moly!!!!! I would love to shoot a Vlog with the DJI MINI 2😭😭😭😭😭🎥🎥🛰 I also loved the 10 tips on video footage
Great movie and hints!
thank you for these, loved how you saved the close-up for the most important thing 10:25
Amazing to see something so exotic as snow covered desert. Good tips also. I noticed that my worst beginners mistake is fluency in flight and ability to follow object (e.g initiating manual orbit and following moving object while controlling fly path). What I would like to have in post is ability to keep constant optical flow (to speed up video where drone slows down)
I have learned lot of thing to enjoy my Mini2 thanks lot.
Thanks man! This helped a lot.
Awesome, thanks D.
Thanks so much for the info man.
Supporting from Greece!

Thanks for your advices
Wow. That’s an interesting and complete video. Well done. Keep on the good work man!
Very helpful thanks man
Very valuable lesson. Thank you
Great video for beginning your drone journey 👍😊
Great content man, some solid advice 👌
Great explanation. Thank you.
I will evaluate.
From Turkey
Super helpful ideas, thank you very much for them!! I am totally new to drones.
This is awesome thank you
I’m Groot !!! Thank you so much for your clear explanations. Kind regards from France 👍
I've noticed some movies and shows that contain more daytime and cloudy weather feel more real and relatable whereas the american all golden hour movies lack this.
Very informative! Well done!
2:50 I know exactly where this is, over the summer I was working for the power company in California and those power lines were the ones I was inspecting
Drone inspection i guess 😜
I’m sitting here watching this video (for the second time) and this time, I’m making notes.
I gotta stop and say thank you. What an amazing collection of insights, lessons, suggestions and tips. You could have charged me for this, and I would have gladly paid you. Excellent work. I’m looking forward next to what you can teach me about Color Grading.
If you have an online course, I’d like to sign up. It would be most helpful also to have a teacher who can review my work, make comments and suggestions.
Thank you again!
Hello mate. I wanted to ask you for these notes. It's awesome, that you do notes and do not just watch the video. It is an effective way to learn.
Sadly, I do not have enough time and I would like you to publish them here, so that others, who don't have time are still able to use your notes
Great value add! Thanks
Thanks for these quick tips and shots. It will motivate me to get my FAA part 107 license, as much as pain that will be, I need to do it.
Thanks. Nice tips
Thanks for the video mate ❤✌
This is very good content. Thanks!
Great advice!
Very good, thanks for that lesson.
Perfect takes🤩🚀😱
Thank you sir for this shots
Such a badass video bro!
The Mini 2 is such a powerful drone for its size. The footage used in this video was from this adventure video ruclips.net/video/7frFFflSS2o/видео.html Cameras have become so good that now it comes down to finding cool stories to tell with them!
Hi, I flew my Mini 2 again today and noticed that as I pan the the Drone from left to right (and vice versa) using the left stick the footage is a jaggy but panning side to side using the right stick is much more smoother - I noticed people avoid filming while turning the drone because of this - is this a common problem? I filmed in auto 4K 30 fps. Cheers,
I haven't even taken my mini 2 out of 1080p, 30fps, and playing back on my 80in., the Video looks great. This is way to much fun...
Great video but was hoping frame rate would be mentioned. Can you elaborate here which frame rate you shoot at for a more cinematic look? With my dslr I find 24 fps gives a more cinematic aesthetic. But how about for the mini 2? Thanks!
Wow! so much of information in just a 10 minute video.
Thumb Zupped and Sub'd Dude. Really good work and footage looks very professional.Saved it to camera tutorials ! " Should i make my Mini 2 footage, pop " ?......He said " yes,son ". He's a man of few words.
Great tips for an absolute beginner like me. 👍
Man! Youre a beast! Thanks for the tips!
