What's the best way to tell the difference between daily undulating versus heavy and light days within a microcycle to facilitate recovery?
    Originally I was thinking see if it looks like two different training goals: 4 x 6 @ 85% and 3 x 6 @ 75% is not undulating, but rather weekly variation to facilitate recovery BUT 4 x 8 @ 75% 1RM and 3 x 3 @ 85% is undulating because that’s a "hypertrophy day" and a "power day"?
Or should I go off of volume-load calculation? Like undulating could be all high volume-loads vs variation would be a high volume-load and a low volume-load? If I go this route, then my above examples are opposite.

If the rep ranges are constantly changing, then it's probably undulating. Undulating programs train different qualities (strength, power, muscular endurance, etc.) on different days in the same training cycle while linear programs train a single quality per training cycle.

So would you say undulating training would be reserved for sports teams more so then general population clients? I only as because Ideally I don’t usually have clients constantly for more then 8-10 weeks at a time unless there elderly.

I would say that undulating periodization is reserved for experienced clients. In practice, beginners need linear periodization to build a training base before moving to undulating. And, I would say that gen pop clients can benefit from undulating periodization (often they enjoy the variety too!).
