Thank you so much to Reuven for the loan of his gorgeous Tissot! A true reissue in all but size..... which is a shame for the likes of me who prefer a smaller watch, but good for the likes of anyone else who prefers a larger watch. Ha! The dial is gorgeous and it is pretty good value considering who makes it and what is in the back of it. Cheers, Jody
Thank you Jody for bringing my Tissot Telemeter to life on camera! It was amazing to see your review on the watch. You caught incredible fine details and appreciate you sharing the history behind my connection to the brand. You’re a real credit to the watch community and your content is consistently top notch. Keep it up! (And thanks for the shoutout ! )
Nice watch buddy!
Love it! Stunning!
Great watch. Thanks for sharing!
There aren't any video Beard and Bezel channel?
Beautiful choice, man!
The 42mm kills it for a lot of people. I have big wrists so i could pull it off but even i would be more interested if it were 38-40mm.
Yeah I have scrawny wrists. I do have 42's but the ones that look good are dive watches. The bezel to dial ratio determines what you can get away with. Dress watches at the same size look huge even being thinner.
Tbh I think they should do 2 sizes like prx
Beautiful, but 42 is a bit much for something like this, 40 or better yet 38 would have suited it so well. I'll have to stick with my Seagull 1963 for my vintage chrono itch, until I can scrounge up enough pennies for a Zenith!
Please , please make a 38.5 mm version . The dial is spectacular !
Why does it need to be precisely 38.5 haha? You sure you don't want 38.7 instead?
And give it a manual-wound movement to make it slimmer in height!
@user-fs7ww4le2e look at the 1937 dress chrono (38 mm) from Dan Henry (they also have the 1939 military chrono, 41 mm). Both are meczquartz mvmts. I own two DH's, great pieces
@@shawn1928 Dan Henry not even in the same league as this.
@@DC-uf6ve true, but it's still another option for some people
Looks good, but a 38-40mm would've been better.
Gorgeous watch. As Jody said, Tissot are killing it at the moment; but I would have liked to see this at 40mm. I enjoy my Hamilton Intra-Matic Auto Chrono for that reason. Nonetheless, I love the backstory to this purchase… enjoy your magic new Tissot in good health, Ruven!
Thank you !
Such a stunning watch, such a massive case. I love vintage reissues just as much, if not more, than the next guy but these designs belong in more period correct dimensions. 42mm makes this have a totally different spirit than the original. 38-40mm would be the butter zone for this watch. Fingers crossed they make a smaller one soon - it'll be an instant buy.
Exactly. Me wanting a vintage looking watch doesn't mean I'd enjoy a big chunky version of it, quite the opposite. This watch is frigging massive.
Yeah it's a shame and deal breaker longines did it the right way with the record if you can increase your budget
Food for thought. I like smaller watches too but would you be able to read the text when it was smaller. I'm sure I can't read it without reading glasses.
Yes, it's a shame and a bit odd, since the 1948 they released was 39mm. Don't know why thet decided to chunkify this one.
@@jomni I'm blessed with perfect eyesight and not old enough for it to have degraded yet, but it is a fair point.
Had the pleasure of meeting Reuven the day he purchased this piece. Absolute stunner and great backstory. Great review and macro camera work here as well. Look forward to seeing how the journey continues to unfold. 😀
It's gorgeous but could be 38-40. 48 lug to lug as 50 is over the limit for me.
Lovely watch! A cheaper quartz alternative is the Dan Henry 1939, also beautiful!
Ooh that's lovely. Another one to explore!
Correct! And it came out before this reissue 😂
This was my first thought when I saw it
I’ve got the Dan Henry and can vouch for it. Obviously it’s not mechanical and not Swiss, but I like it
Yea let’s again wait and see if a reissue finally gets resized properly
That dial printing is stellar. Thanks Reuven and Jody! 👍
What a beautiful piece...absolute stunner.
I do think this watch is gorgeous! Over the last few years Tissot has gone from a meh brand to me to a real contender for my cash!
That's damn lovely. 😎
That size isn't very "vintage" though...
It's vintage in a clock kind of way. Lol
loving that ayrton senna shirt ! nice to see another f1 fan
What an absolute stunning vintage watch.
I was unaware of this watch. Thanks for the review!
The Tissot Janeiro from 1995 is smaller, with the same dial.
"Azurage" and "decorated up the wazoo" Dr Jody educates 😉. Love the review. Lovely looking watch just 42mm is to big for me.
Love the Ayrton Senna T-shirt. One of the Greatest. Love chronos and also think it is awesome that Tissot is getting the love it deserves. Stunning Piece.
To me Tissot always does some very amazing polishing n finish on markers and hands it always stuns me when you get to play with it in real life!
Just how much thought it seems like they put into the shine, size and notice-ability is a key element in why I fall in love with Tissot so often - awesome review Jody - stunning watch indeed im sure he did his grandfather proud!!!
What a beautiful watch, hope Reuben enjoys it
Tissot is on FIRE. Like watching their moves lately.some very compelling offerings. Nice video Jody.
Love it. Thanks Jody and Reuven.
Anything heritage inspired watch is amazing! Great video!
I think I prefer the Dan Henry version of this style watch, it's smaller
I have been wanting this watch since it came out. So cool!
Very good looking watch from a great brand, for those with smaller budgets I would point to the Dan Henry 1937,38mm, VK64 at $270 or the 1939 at 41mm
Splendid! Thanks Jody!
It looks fantastic!
Great looking watch but I think they would have sold more of them if they'd made it smaller. Thanks for sharing 👍👍
Its stunning!
That is one beautiful time piece.
I'm waiting for the
It’s so beautiful! Such a shame the ruined it with the size
Just beautiful!
I got to try this on at Galleries Lafayette in Paris in October. It’s amazing. It’s beautiful. And it’s really a great value even though it’s pricey. Glad to see the review!!
I know I'm in the minority on this, but I'd love to see a version with a manual movement and thinner case!
I fully agree, once you have a decent watch collection automatics aren't a necessity. By the time I grab it again it's dead anyway.
That dial is just beautiful! I love it. I really enjoy the coin-edge type fluting on the crown, as well. Black and gold was an excellent choice. Looks a treat with that strap. It's a winner!
Love the Senna shirt. I have one of those Nacional hats a friend got me for my birthday a decade ago.
Hi Jody, great review and a stunning looking watch. Keep up the good work
This one went straight on my wish list when it came out. Great to see you review it. Thanks Jody.
A bit of a shame it is not a tiny bit smaller. This at 40mm would be a must for me.
Yeah, 38-40mm would of been ideal for such a watch.
No, 42mm is perfect. Any smaller and the dials would just be too small to read.
@@tancreddehauteville764 technically you’re correct. But even at 42mm, the crowded gold on black dial is already virtually impossible to read at a normal distance. So I still would prefer smaller dimensions more appropriate to this vintage design. If not as small as the original.
Yes, it's strange. They kept the 1948 at 39mm but ruined this one. Surely they know that the market for huge watches has abated amongst all but the most tasteless.
God that piece is so beautiful! I would put my Seamaster 300 in the box to wear that beauty!
It's a phenomenal piece! Every time I wear it makes me smile!
Shame is 42mm. Would've bought it in a heartbeat if is under 40mm
Jody great review. This Tissot is as you said..gorgeous!
Also for my personal taste I would have preferred a smaller diameter...
But fir that there is the Tissot Janeiro (unfortunately discontinued)
I love this watch! ... I must have this watch!
What a looker. Thanks for sharing!
Completely agree with you I would have preferred this watch in a more period appropriate (brass tacks here: smaller) case diameter. But point taken that the girthy chronograph movement would have dictated a somewhat egg-shapped case if that small. But alas, as I am physically restrained by my 6 3/8" wrist, a 42mm case, let alone a thick one, is too large. Pity. I'm a sucker for those old, pre-WW2 tool watch dial designs, with those nautilus-like telemeter scales. At something like 39 mm, this could have been a grail watch for me.
It's a beautiful, beautiful watch. Chronographs generally aren't my thing, but the gold on this looks both stylish and functional without seeming too busy. Top marks.
I love it. This may be my new grail!
Beautiful dial!!
Love the look of this watch.
I'm not normally a fan of gold on watches (or most offerings from Tissot), but this piece is a beauty. Might be a touch big for my wrist, but I will make it a point to visit a shop and try one one.
Man, that is just gorgeous under good lighting. I've been looking at the Hammy manual wind but I don't know if I might just prefer the Tissot.
Looks amazing. Love Tissot and have been eying the automatic PRX in blue for a while. My wife also love Tissot and she have three Couturier in different colors. Great content as usual on your channel, keep it up 👍🙂
You should get the PRX, its amazing, best watch I've bought (and I got the quartz). I was very hesitant because I usually prefer nato-strap over bracelet and the prx got a unique bracelet style thats not very good for natos without adapter.. But.. the metal bracelet is so good that I instantly changed my mind when putting it on for the first time. By far my favourite watch. If you have not seen it ni person yet you should! It's superb quality and finish.
Gorgeous watch 🤩
Fantastic watch, looks spectacular and really is a budget option to watches like the Omega Chronoscope
I know it’s not the popular opinion, but I’m glad to see a hot new release that’s not smaller than 40mm. I was ready for the big watch era to end, without considering what that would mean for us bigger guys. I’m 6’4”, 250 lbs with an almost 8” wrist; anything under 41mm feels dainty. I wish every release came with >42mm and
Exactly! 🙂
Remarkable knowledge base.....great presentation.
Beautiful watch and at 42mm it's the perfect size!
Dear Tissot, please release a quartz version of this. Thank you! Great review as always Jody!
Love that dial!
Ah Jody, a Gentleman and a Scholar. Everytime you say 'Welcome to Just One More Watch" it brings a smile to my face. Hello from Canberra.
Guys guys just look at the prx version of that is sick and the lug to lug distance is just 46mm and it offers the same parameters in the werk wwith a date function and 100meters of wr. But the telemeter is a stunning watch too, when i saw it i just fell in love with it immediately.
Thanks for the rewiew 😁
Amazing Ayrton Senna's T-Shirt! As a Brazilian it brought me to tears!
It would be so much more beautiful as a 37/38mm.
I would love to see you review the Dan Henry 1937 Gilt. Nice video today thanks
Stunning...absolutely!
Great review of a great looking watch. I’d be all in if it were 38-40mm.
Stunning looking watch. Great review.
Very pretty dial, the orginal design still holds up. But it's just comically oversized! What a fiasco. Make it max 38mm and I'm interested.
Awesome t-shirt! As I said: Brazil loves you, man!
great review, well-constructed and great detail. I have been looking for a nice bi-compax layout for a while. If this had a date and slightly higher water resistance I would have been all over it. So far I still think the black bay chrono meets my needs better. I will look out for more of your video’s. thanks.
Dude just look the prx version of that
@@matezam5773 no mate. Your referring to the Tissot PRX Chronograph but that’s not a bi-compax dial layout
There's a Tissot Janeiro Limited Edition of 3333 pieces that looks very similar to this and can be had for not a lot of money secondhand now. It was released in 1997 or thereabouts and is 38mm. Used to own one and gave it away. I miss it sometimes.
Really beautiful
Great vid Jodi. Just ordered the white dial w/blued handset. Can’t wait to get it; it’s been an itch since it first launched.
That is a beautiful watch.
Tissot’s are just well made Swiss watches. I have the Sea Star from the early 2000’s and I had an accident with it out one night, it dropped, the self winding rotor was pushed up inside the movement and to this day, if I wind it, it starts working. It’ll cost as much as it’s worth to fix tho. It’s also a chunky 43mm but great watch that would still be going strong.
I think the Dan Henry 1937 Dress Chronograph , the gilt model (which I own) looks very similar, is in 38 mm and thinner, and is just as stunning.
I love it. Everything a watch should look like 👍
Excellent review Jody, I think you are right about the size. It might be like an egg if it were smaller. It’s like the Hanhart ES417. I have the 42mm but the same watch at 36 is like an egg. It’s out of proportion at that size, the Tissot might be the same.
I’ve bought a couple of Tissot watches on sale from Jomashop over the last couple of years. I have really grown to enjoy them. They are great value for the money.
Thanks for the review. Very nice looking watch. I seem to recall seeing a Chinese homage (Merkur?) to this watch.
That is a gorgeous watch indeed. Doctor Jody, any chance we'll be seeing the new Hamilton Murph 38mm on your wrist anytime soon? Would love to hear your thoughts, as it's definitely on my wish list.
Great looking watch, beautiful dial, but I agree that the modern sizing is an issue. Would have preferred 39 or 40 mill with a lug to lug of 48 mill.
Wow this one remind me of another new released by the same swatch group, Longines, the Longines record, obviously the tissot is much cheaper. But hey for anyone really into a bargain and tight budget, check out Dan Henry, plenty of these similar vintage style chronos. Jody maybe have a try on reviewing them 👍
Very stylish chrono!
I think this is a very beautiful watch and of course it's a Tissot so you know you're getting great value for your money. I agree though that the watch is probably a wee bit too big and I actually like larger watches. I think they need to make a smaller version in addition to this one to give people an option on size.
Stunning watch!!!!
Great review. 👍
Great looking watch mr Jody 😊
Teletastic!❤ great review and Tissot🥂
This is quite beautiful. I've always liked the Tissot Janeiro, so I bought a Dan Henry 1939 with the black dial. It's a gorgeous watch as well, but the multiple colors and highly reflective...well, everything...make it a bit hard to read for my not-young-anymore eyes. Now that Tissot has stepped up and taken their designs back 🙂 I may have to put this on the "save for" list.
I love the design, so bought both colorways of the Dan Henry a couple of years ago. I think I’ll be stepping up for the Tissot as well.
I’ve wanted the Janeiro forever and this one has me wondering if it could scratch that itch.
Thanks Reuven!
Did you know Tissot is making watching since 1853?
No I didn't, thank you for the information!
This Tissot is gorgeous!
Ohh looks nice, love the brand.. head review Jody!
Stunning
Love the font of the logo
Quick tip for softening up stiff new leather, such as straps. Use a bit of leather conditioner on the inside of the strap.
This thing is incredible.
