It has been a while but 'JOMW SAVES' is back! (You know what I mean ;) ) I have been sitting on these for far too long, they are actually really nice. Smooth case finish, nice sapphire, great handset. A few kinks to iron out re the strap and the bracelet, but for a little over $200, it is a swet watch and wears bigger that you might think. Cheers, Jody

it's not a 1 to 1 or "ripoff" copy. the subdials are pushed out closer to the edge of dials, which is an improvement over the zenith imho. the absence of a date window is also an improvement. these details and improvements more than justify the purchase.

I got one of these for Christmas, the "special bracelet" variant. I had been searching for a mechanical chronograph that didn't have a giant red star and non-english writing on the dial and as soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted it. And I can attest to all these points, I removed the bracelet the day after and haven't put it back on because the quality of the clasp seems far inferior to the rest of the watch, quickly swapped on a grey suede strap for the winter, but may look into swapping the clasp or the whole bracelet in time for summer. With the winding, it's relatively smooth, but no tactile or audible click that I've become accustomed to with my vintage collection, but better than the gritty miyota in my collection. I too am worried about the reliability, not only from what I've heard from others, but also because only a day or two into my ownership, the chrono hand stopped at 58 seconds and needed a shake to continue, since then I haven't had any issues like that again, but it is concerning right out of the box. Wears larger than the 37mm suggests, honestly feels larger than my 38mm SKX, actually a little large for my 36mm preference. At the end of the day, I love the look, it's got a bit of heft and wrist presence, the bracelet and clasp could've been better, but I'm glad I have the bracelet, I'm just not looking forward to the day that the movement goes out.

Dr. Jodi! Why am I seeing so many Sugess lately? I bought a beautiful 1963 with an ST1780 automatic with an intricate dial design from the Sugess store and just purchased the cream dial Top Time homage a few days ago and have already spent a small fortune on straps for them both. I was so impressed with the details and dial finish and after seeing a few reviews of the Top Time (is it’s model number really Suchp005?? 💩🤣), I had to have one. I sold a San Martin type b that just wore too small for me to fund part of the ‘one more watch’ purchase that really didn’t need. 😊
It just seems that I have seen Sugess everywhere lately like I did San Martin last year and Pagani a few years before. I really love the one that I received and the dial face is stunning and the hands look to actually be thermally blued instead of painted and I put a blue w/cream stitched TAG style deployant strap on it is just stunning to look at. I can’t wait to get the other one as I have already received another TAG rally style strap in black/orange awaiting it’s arrival. I guess I’ll pass my time waiting on Just One More Watch! Sadly it stopped running on me one day after about 4 months of use, so the comment about dodgey QC is true in my case. I work on my own watches as a hobby so I took it as a chance to get into a chrono movement. Its been working fine ever since and its actually on my wrist right now as I type this. I eventually swapped to something with a 7750 copy in it for work use though as I didn't have to wind it every day(the crown really is hard to get a good grip on for me).

I love this Sea-Gull ST-19 movement simply because how easily it allows you to synchronize the second and minute hands, i.e., that the minute hand will point at the index bang on when the second hand points at 12:00. Wherever you set the minute hand, it stays precisely there, doesn't move backwards or forward, and engages immediately.
This, unfraternally, is not the case with movements that are supposed to be of higher quality, such as NH35, Miyota 9000, Eta 2824 and Sellita 200-1. These movements are a pain in the ass in this regard.

@@bauertime I forgot about the being trapped underground / kidnapped and placed in a room with no windows use case. Good point. If they could only find some way to include the second time zone for Mars like the Omega X-33 it will be the perfect watch.

Almost pulled the trigger on the Panda version a few days ago. I ended up going with a more expensive Iron Watch Vintage Water Ghost Submariner No-Date, (2X the price... EEEHHH!). Call me crazy... I know. But I have never been able to satisfy my desire for an affordable, vintage Sub No-Date. I do own the hard to find Phylida Speedmaster homage which I am very pleased with. With my Certina DS-2 that makes two chronos, and I just couldn't see adding a third to my collection. I never really seem to use the chrono functions much at all anyway. That said, this Sugess is an extremely handsome timepiece. Something tells me that at some point in the future the Panda version might find its way to my mailbox in the States. Dr. J., if you are interested in selling the Panda let me know ; )

I’ve liked these I think since you first highlighted them way back when. Not sure if I will pick one up but it’s still nice to look at.
Now need to look at the Zenith 6oclock register to see what they are using it for.
Those 24 hour sundials are utterly useless. If you don’t know what time of day it is and you need a complication to tell you that I think you have a major problem.
    Good work as aways mate.

You said Mido is not brand that you are interested. I want you to try Mido Multifort 38mm or Patrimony line (three hands or chronograph). Amazing quality and value for money. I hope these models will change your mind. Regards!

This is a better choice for affordable mechanical chrono compared to 1963. At least there is a decent brand stamped on it, if homage is fine with you. Non-Sea-Gull-produced 1963 is so muddled that we don't even know which brands make them.

The movement of my Sugess Revival did go defect after one week of usage. The attempt to get in contact if the seller ended in a never ending flood of harmful mails (phishing etc) but not in a new watch.

Like the 1963, no practical value but aesthetically very pleasing as of course is the Zenith. Hard to think of a downside.

Hey, how about something completely different from all the Sub lookalikes etc? Jaeger Lecoultre Master Ultra thin Moon.
    Sharp looking watch.

Hey Jody,, great review, these are cracking watches but I'm heartbroken that they are 37mm, waaayyy to small for my 8 inch wrist. Can we hope that Sugess reads the comments and makes a 42mm or more version?? One can only hope.

Nice Video!!!!! The watch really look very similar to the Zenith, but the dial at "6" is not a register because it does not accumulate hours when the chronograph is activated, like in the Zenith. That dial is just there to show the running hours of the general dial, and that's it. The Chinese had never implemented the full capability of this movement, what a shame........

    Enjoyed the vid, Jody ⌚😎🤙
Unfortunately, neither the strap or bracelet will fit my 7.875" - 8" wrist. 🤔😒
Even though micro adjustments would be lost, I believe a butterfly clasp would be a better option for the bracelet.
For the strap model, I'd immediately replace the buckle with a fold over deployment clasp.
