I've had mine for a month. It's not the official Seagull version, mine cost me £170 off eBay with a 40mm case. But it's the best mechanical watch I've owned. It keeps time as good as my quartz watches. I only notice it losing time if I use the stopwatch function often enough. But, I'm well pleased with it.
What a brilliant review I was getting really confused with original not original, case sizes and crystals etc. I've purchased this very watch about 1 hour ago from sea-gull (notice the hyphen) direct from sea-gull through Amazon then went down several rabbit holes wondering if I'd got the right one and right case diameter size etc. after watching your vid all my questions have been answered and I can rest easy now knowing I made the right purchase it was interesting though researching what can only be described as a minefield on these watches and I feel I've learnt a little bit more on my new ish watch collecting journey thank you very much atb my friend 😀👍
I got mine on eBay 3 or ao years ago and love it. It has something loose inside now but still runs well. The click when I move my arm around is annoying so I don’t wear it as much anymore.
Thanks man, this is the most up to date video on the 1963, most of the other videos cause even more confusion, I bought one direct from Seagul from your link, I like to have the real deal even if you can get cheaper on Ali with the same movement and case it's really not the same to me.
The real official Seagull website is only available in Chinese and does not list this version however it looks authentic, I bought this one on Amazon so I can send it back when it is not good.
@@coyboy1001 Historique cornes de vache. I understand it's not the same movement as in the Chinese watch (Lemania vs Venus) but looks mighty close to me
great review! the website and aliexpress store both say the crystal is glass or coated glass... is this a mistake? Is it acrylic or glass? i'd love to buy this specific watch as the dial color isnt as darkly tinted as other models... but want to make sure i have the details correct first
after speaking with the company, I have discovered that the crystal is a hardened glass, not acrylic. i beleive this changes the look of the dial to be a bit flatter, as opposed to an acrylic crystal causing a somewhat spherical distortion
The first thing that strikes me about this watch is the lug-to-lug to case diameter ratio. Those are some long lugs! And look at the gap they leave with the bracelet!
I really like mine, bought from a vendor I believe linked by just one more watch (though not certain). It is a swan neck version. It works well, however after 2-3 years chorono start button is problematic, when pressed it digs in and in order to activate it I have to manually pull it back. My friend also bought one from poljott, not exact same version but same movement. He to had a chrono pusher failure, but his straight up doesn't work, I believe it happened in a year? I am planning to buy another one in due time but from the original seagull watch company, but the stupid price difference holding me back. I heard that they keep the best movements to themselves but who knows?
nice video ! just ordered mine using your discount :) i see in the site that the silver strap version is for 20mm when this model should fit 18mm strap, did you got the strap also from thier website ?
I have bought several of these from aliexpress the last few months, prices down to £60-70 for the non swan neck version with plexi. Not sure why it’s complains about it? As the one I have used daily now for over two months has performed flawlessly, very good time keeping, no idea why this versions is not as good as the official versions from Seagull, what specifically is different??
Is the International model definitely Hardened Glass, its domed like the original? i thought the glass one had raised sides and a more flat less curved glass?
What size is your wrist? The 40mm dial colour is slightly more yellow than the champagne colour of the 38mm. The latter seems to be a better colour. Do you agree?
I have heard of people warning that some on Aliexpress are not the seagull version, but another copy of it. Are there other affordable mechanical watches with expedition case on back? Just ordered my first Chronograph from Seiko (SSC947) with the “Pogue” dial, that one is a Solar based watch.

Great video. I really liked my Seagull. I gave mine to a friend who was just getting into watches. Now I'm thinking about buying another.
Thanks, Greg. Glad you liked the video. Your friend is lucky to have you :)

In 1961, it was called the D304 secret operations which was for the Chinese Airforce, distributed in 1963.

You probably need to show it to a watchmaker.
@@OneManReviewsIt would probably be cheaper to just buy another one
@@ianlong8596 The "sea-gull international" version is out now, very cheap considering see-gulls version was always the most expensive

Hey i also just ordered from the same link, but somewhat the website seems a bit fishy for me as it has very few reviews, did you got yours properly?
@gallahmi3968 yes everything perfect and legitimate.

Vacheron sells a small manual chronograph from the same era which is a kissing cousin to the Seagull
Which is it?

Hey should i buy it with swan neck regulator ? And the one you have is with swan neck ?
No mine doesn't have the swan neck. It's really up to you if you like to have this feature maybe it's worth to pay extra for it.

My wrist is 17 cm. Haven't seen the 40mm watch in the metal but in photos it doesn't seem to yellow to me.
@OneManReviews thank you.

Why on the official website the 37.5mm model in the video costs around $170, while the 40mm one costs more than $600?

why would you want to wear this symbol of communism and human suffering?
It's a dumb watch. Get over yourself. Why even click on his video.
Zenith also has a star as the logo. In the Seagull 1963 case, I think it's more about the military than communism.
@@OneManReviews in china, EVERYTHING is about communism
I used to think the same, till we materially supported genocide. We're all as bad as each other.
