The Seiko GMT movement is already widely available and modders have just gotten started, and it's a matter of time before micro brands start doing really cool things with them. On its own, the Seiko is already a home run, but what it does for the affordable enthusiast market, it's the winner of 2022 in my mind. Thanks for the rundown!
The value of channels like this is all the knowledge gained by handling the watches (plus the experience of having handled so many others previously). As the channel and shop’s success grows, Thanks to these guys maintaining their humble beginnings, giving the transparent BAD as well as good.
Teddy has outstanding taste. He doesn't follow the crowd, he finds good picks across various price ranges, and can qualify precisely in terms of both design and technical aspects why he likes something. I enjoyed this.
Teddy, please Never change like the other big watchfluencers. I appreciate and enjoy your channel so much for being so versatile and not milking Rolex in every video, going with the hype etc.
Just purchased my first watch from your website. I purchased the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 with a silver dial. Man, this is a great watch for the money. I love it! Ordering was simple and the product was received with no issues. I enjoyed watching a ton of your videos in 2022. Looking forward to what 2023 brings the watch community.
Fell deep down the watch rabbit hole about a month ago, have probably watched 20+ hours of your content since. Thanks for putting all of this out there!
That’s literally me right now. I’ve just been completely emersed in the world of watches for the past month or so. Teddy makes the best content on watches, for sure.
The Miyota 9075 “true” GMT movement also deserves an honorable mention, in my opinion. Perhaps the Bulova watch with which it was released isn’t for everyone, but we are beginning to see more and more watches being manufactured with that movement, which is great for those who want a truly affordable “true” GMT watch.
This year I obtained my basic and advanced open water scuba diving certifications and started looking into dive watches, and found your channel. I quickly went from knowing nothing about watches to being immersed in a whole new world! I've watched so many videos (mostly yours) and read a few books, and I spent months voraciously consuming every bit of watch content I could find. Thank you for feeding my new passion this year! You've been a prominent part of my journey into watches and I'm thankful for that Teddy :)
Picked up a amzwatch's watch as my first watch last month and I’m absolutely in love with it. Perfect size, looks elegant, very comfortable. Now my only problem is holding off from buying more watches so quickly!
I think very highly of Teddy. I was very closed minded in my style preferences. He is very educated on all of the brands and presents that information in a fair manner. I am not, in any way, offended by hearing what he prefers because he is still offering kudos, where they are due. Very glad that I found his channel and watch whenever I get a chance.
I started my hobby this year with a Seiko Sports 5 and a Seiko Pepsi Turtle. Both have the same 4R36 movement. I doubt becoming a collector but definetely considering my next timepiece with more power reserve ( a Seiko Baby Alpinist or a Hamilton Khaki Field Auto). Thanks Teddy for delivering helpful videos to starters like me and greetings from Germany!
Longines has a lot of pieces with 72 hr power reserves, as do Tissot and Rado with 80 hrs. Tissot is on the more affordable side of those three companies, with Longines and Rado being "entry-level" luxury brands
That Seiko 5 GMT is wayy better looking in person. I just gifted this watch in Grey/Black to my best friend who avid watch collector but dislikes Seiko watches. And he has been wearing it literally every single day since he got it and loves the watch so much! Like a sunburst dial, the bezel shows different colors under different lightings and the jubilee bracelet is well made. No problems with movements and the finishings executed properly. My cousin also has the Blue/Black (Blueberry) and I gotta say that one is really good looking. It doesn’t shout out “I look like Rolex Batman.” It’s really a different feeling compared to the Batman/Batgirl. Hands down best watch under $400 🔥
Teddy... You've got me hooked on watches! I've watched a TON of your videos in the past month and I can't wait until the next one comes out so I can learn more. Thank you for making the content easy to understand and captivating. I'm simply in awe of watches now thanks to you. My bank account isn't happy but I am!
Another superb video. Your videos over the past few years reignited my passion for watches and now I have a small four watch collection that I absolutely love - Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium, Baltic Aquascaphe Blue gilt, Omega Seamster Diver 300 white dial and the Omega Speedmaster 3861 Hesalite - Thanks again for the phenomenal and consistent content
I personally love the Seiko Ssk gmt. Great watch, great value for money, great experience having it on the wrist. Really good job on the video Teddy, keep up the good work!
Honestly the most underrated watches are Orient Star. I don’t know if it is the design (which I personally love) or the fact that people don’t understand their movements although based on standard Japanese movements, are actually built to much higher standards, easily on par with ETA and Sellita. Their case finishing and dial work are better than anything under $1000-$1500, and they are constantly on sale for just a few hundred bucks. I have a collection of Orient Stars and I can’t get over how good they are and how little I paid for them.
that was incredible. what a beautiful watch and what great work you did on it!I love AMZWATCH watch!! Dream watch! Everytime I wear it, makes me feel amazing!
Among the watches mentioned, I am very glad to have purchased Seiko SSK GMT and intended to keep it for very long. I still have the SSC813 panda dial with me, but I have recently purchased SSC911 "Go Big" with a bigger dial and lumes on all the markers (the SSC813 only has lumes on 3,6,9 and 12 o'clock), and I am contemplating selling the 813. I have had my eyes on Longines Spirit GMT and regular Spirit for a while. But I also hope to wait for Longines' new releases in 2023. I also overheard that Tissot PRX will get a 37.5mm dial which should work better for me than the current offerings of 42mm and 35mm, and I will be thrilled to try it on.
Teddy, I love this channel. It’s informative, entertaining and provides a place for us enthusiasts. More importantly it’s given me something at a time in my life when I was really struggling so it’s bigger than just watches. Thank you.
That Breitling B09 just looks gorgeous. I probably won't be able to ever afford it but I would still love to wear one on my wrist someday, it looks so damn good, just beautiful.
Excellent list, of course. I'd add the Calibre 1932 5 hz split seconds chronograph minute repeater watches from Omega. Incredible accomplishment in a year of fantastic releases from Omega.
Intersecting the GMT & micro categories, I think the jack Mason strat-o-timer is worth taking a look at. If not for anything else, for creating a very wearable true GMT priced at 1k
I DM’d Teddy about this one, since I’d never heard him even mention that microbrand, and he reiterated just how many GMTs have been released this year in the
Teddy hi from N Ireland on St Patrick’s Day. Just a small note of thanks for your marvellous channel. Has got me into collecting (on a not too extravagant level). All down to you and your encyclopaedic knowledge
For years, I've been happy with my little Seiko watch collection. I have like one piece for every occasion and/or season - that's it - and I've been able to sleep comfortably. RUclips suddenly recommends Teddy, and within two days I've bought an SRPE57 and now I have serious cravings for an SSK003. Dang it! Your suede jacket looks great by the way Teddy.
I have an Omega that was bought in Germany by my father in 1958. Had it served in St.Ignace Michigan last year. Beautiful watch, but I never wear it out. My go to pieces are my Tissots. They are amazing watches
Been watching your stuff on TT ans came over here for some more details. I've made a list watches because of you. Thanks for keeping it real to the common folk.
First time hearing of the SCURFA, and after a bit of research they seem really impressive for the price. Sometimes I find myself focusing too much on automatic movements, i need to be more open to what the quartz has to offer.
This is now my favourite watch channel on RUclips , such great content and done superbly, well done sir and I got my favourite watch at amzwatch, it hasn’t left my wrist for weeks
From a 500 dollar watch to a six figure watch. Great variety in taste and price, as usual. Appreciate the hard work you and the squad put in! It feels like there is a new video everyday lol. (My murph is on its way to me now!)
I've recently began my obsession as a watch collector. And i must say- out of all the luxury brands I've been researching, for me the AMZWATCH's watches are the most intriguing.
Hi Teddy! Thank you for another year of great content. I appreciate your style and insight! Not watch related, but what jacket do you have on in this video? I really like the style. Thank you!
I recently got an Orient Helios, which is basically an open-heart style Bambino on a bracelet instead of a strap. I love it. Might be my favorite of the 9 watches I own. I understand the hype that the Bambino gets, and I think the Helios deserves the same.
I am another fan who has gone down the rabbit hole. I have been watching your channel. daily. And have learned so much. I am repairing a vintage Audemars Piguet I inherited from my father. Changing the face on A Rolex date just(hate Roman numerals). Bought a Oak and Oscar and a Monta Noble at Windup Watch fair. Planning to spend some $ on Grand Seiko or Jaeger Lecoultre next year. 6 months ago I didn’t know any of these brands. When can your fans see you in person??
This video is a great example why I love your channel. You have the same excitement whether you're describing a $20000 watch as a $200 watch. About as far away from a watch snob as you can get.
Just came across the Sternglas Taiga GMT. Absolute steal at 249 & 279 for field and leather straps respectively. It’s quartz, but I’m not complaining for a sapphire crystal bauhaus GMT under 300 220 flat after discount for the field.
Amazing wrap-up Teddy. Just bought the Seiko 5 GMT from your website a couple days ago. Can't wait to use it as a tool watch to track time of multiple places. Just one gripe. The website says that it has a lug width of 20mm. However, I've checked multiple sources online and they say that it's 22mm. Otherwise, an absolute home run. Happy holidays!
Thank you Teddy for all the great content you are bringing up over the year! It sounds funny but you are the one who made me realize that I should downsize my preferred watch size to a perfect fit.
TB, I'd love to see histories of the different brands/microbrands out there today. There are so many out there that I'm sure there are some amazing stories to uncover.
Microbrand Jack Mason Strat-o-timer releasing March 2023 with Miyota 9075 "true, travel" GMT movement at unheard of sub-$1K cost. They were one of the first microbrands selected by Miyota to house their new true GMT movement. Gorgeous look, jubilee style micro-adjust clasp, bi-directional bezel. Definitely one to check out as a GMT (and Microbrand) option.
The Hamilton Khaki Field "Murph" edition must be a special edition for the movie Interstellar. They used the Hamilton Field watch in the movie and the watch ended up being a very important part in the story. And the character who used the watch was named Murphy or "Murph" for short. That is so cool of Hamilton to do. I Love that watch!
They did another release from that movie, Matthew McConaughey's character wore it. It's a very nice pilots watch for a great price. Love that movie and I love that Hamilton is in a lot of movies. Usually when I see a movie I look up what they're wearing.
Thank you for this great review of the watches of the year. I learn every with your videos. I understood that i have underestimated, during 30 years, great brands like TUDOR and TISSOT. On the other side i am happy to see that all my favorite watches are in your TOP 10 : Longines, BREITLING, BREGUET and i forget one (my GOD) .

Where do i get the GMT with sapphire and cyclops?
@@daley1985 you put a sapphire cyclops on one yourself
There are already about ten different microbrands making a gmt, almost none of them have truly been higher quality than the Seiko.
It is such bullshit, to wait for shitty microbrands to use the Seiko-movement. None of these microbrands improve the quality of the seiko

Took the words out of my mouth. As microbrands start to roll this movement out I see it stealing a lot of the thunder from Seiko.
Let’s be honest with ourselves guys. We only can seriously consider the affordable option, and the other ones are purely for dreaming 😂😂😭
Well spending mostly 50k max. I’d probably cap out at for the future. I’m looking at a Cartier Tank/ Santos. Or something similar.

Great channel. My favourite here is that green dialled Brietling, just perfection. On the more affordable side, have you done anything on Farer?
That Breitling's green dial is really nice, but oh well... I just bought a GS White Birch, will have to slowly save up again...
Great video! You wrapped up the year nicely.
Great video! BTW, your suede jkt is awesome, what brand is it?
Hey Teddy, love what you do. Thanks for all these vids.
Great video Teddy. Glad that you’re taking the time to make these along with the research.
That jacket though! Teddy's killing it
