I’ve always liked Oris but if they’re charging that much then, at the very least, they need to regulating the movement. $3K for a base Sellita with a weak warranty just isn’t a competitive product at that price point.
$3k, I wouldn't pay more than $500, poor lume, naff movement, the crown guards look like a couple of piece of mechano, screwed on to a hockey puck that has been sprayed silver. Reminds me far too much of a Tissot Seastar 1000.
I happen to own an Aquis myself, a nice compact 39.5 mm with pale green fumé dial and a tungsten bezel insert. It's probably the most comfortable watch I own, it's definitely one of my favourites!
I had the 43mm Aquis and I truly loved it at first, however after a while it just looked too big. Plus with all that high polish I found myself wearing it as more of a dress piece. Having said that the build on these things is solid and has really nice finishing. For a first luxury Swiss diver/dress combo (all rounder then 😄), it makes a lot of sense. 👍
If they lumed the GMT hand, it would make sense to lume the bezel insert too. As it is its fine, a lumed GMT hand on its own wouldn't really help much.
That is a magnificent looking watch Jody. On your wrist, all the different colours, dial texture and bling, just really makes the whole thing pop right off your wrist.
My Aquis is my favorite watch, just a plain 39.5mm green dial. The case finishing is spectacular and I have watches that are more expensive and have handled watches that are much more expensive and it really holds up against them all. The only downside (which Oris fixed already) is the unregulated Sellita movement. I regulated it myself so no big deal but I wish they had for me. Still, love that watch.
I love Oris but I'm not a fan of this model at all. It's way too "busy" for my taste with that two tone silver bracelet, blue/black bezel, green face with white markers and orange highlights. I think someone went a bit too crazy with the colours on this one. I absolutely love the standard blue Aquis and that remains my top choice. Really hope to get one some day. That's a stunner.
Thanks for a great review Jody, a great looking watch but I agree that no lume on GMT hand is a bit odd? However, the cost is to my mind excessive given it has an unregulated Sellita movement and most of the hands and other bits are a carry over from previous models. Will not be adding one to my collection. 👎😕
Always liked the Oris Aquis line, along with the Longines Hydroconquest perhaps best "entry level" luxury dive watches. Still, not very keen on GMTs in a divers case, mind you, only from the practical side. Regards
That’s a lovely dial, tbh I find the volume of text and markers a little on the heavy side and a slight distraction. Having said that I don’t know what I would change.
I love what Oris is doing and think they are a great company. I currently own the Carysfort and have the Hangang edition coming in. In my humble opinion these 2 are the best looking blue and green dials made. Nice review as always.
8:16 I personally find that inner track GMT scale much easier to see and use. Nice dial indeed. Rando q: With their Save the Oceans etc work, have Seiko ever pressured the Japanese government to stop “scientific” whaling?
I added a Bremont Boeing 747 GMT chronometer to my collection last year and although I love it it is the last time I will spend that much on a GMT watch without a true GMT movement. The utility of such a movement is essential for someone who crosses time zones regularly. As stunning a piece as this admittedly is, the retail price is too much to justify another "office GMT." And yeah...what were they thinking, not luming the GMT hand? At least they labeled the bezel and inner ring properly (in my opinion) and left the '24' out. Cheers mate!
As a watch collector I have five different Oris watches .The quality is GREAT and would compare them with the many other luxury watches. They are still under the luxury category rubbing elbows with Rolex, Omega, and Tudor to name a few. Cheers
Unregulated movement at a premium price. Non lumed GMT hand. Integrated bracelet so you can’t change straps. That’s 3 strikes for me. I could let the bracelet slide but there’s just too many little things here.
When you compare it to the Tudor BB58 Pro, the Tudor seems to come out on top for price, size, movement, PR, COSC, and a lumed GMT hand. The only thing the Oris has over the Tudor is thickness.
Beautiful! A pity it is 43mm, even if the 49mm lug-to-lug helps. More than 40mm and the watch really look huge on my wrist. Thanks for the review. Very enjoyable as always.
The dial is rather subtle, but does look nice. I think it would have worked better if they had changed the blue section of the bezel to match the dial colour more though.
Nice watch but somehow these Oris are always a little bit too shiny for my taste. Lacking lume on the GMT hand is no big deal imho because i don't need time zones under water. Then again, no idea how long everybody else's diving goes. 😉
Wow. It doesn't seem that long since your last Oris review. I bought another unusual limited Edition Oris in a similar sale from said online store a couple of months ago. Something I am glad I got but would not have paid full price for.
Thanks for another great review Jody, a great looking watch but I agree strange no lume on GMT hand? Possibly slightly too big for my 6.75” wrist but as you mentioned short lug to lug. Starbuy have some great bargains on Oris most weeks 👍Cheers from Melbourne.
At 4k is this a 'Ford Mondeo of the watch world? The dial is ok, and the case back is really nice. If the dial looked like the case back it would win me over a little. But compared to the outstanding value offered by others including for example Orient, I really do not understand these watches' existence. The music gave me a flashback to radio one, with Simon Bates...!
Nice watch for those who only want to check the second time in the daylight. I really like the dial texture though.....I wonder is there a red species of Whale Shark? 🤔😉 It's nice at a deal price but no GMT lume is a no for me.
how do you feel about the aseptic/unbranded all black samurai 'seiko'wstches? they're advertised as mod watches but complete nonetheless. let me know big bro
I seem to recall that Oris is your favorite brand to buy and love then sell and miss it then buy again and sell again for some reason and buy again....Do you still have the two tone with bronze? How is it aging?
Oris Aquis Date was my first (and best) luxury Swiss watch, great all round package. Id prefer the new smaller calibre 400 version if I bought again. They have sure gone up in price over 10y but seems like some occasional good deals around. Jomashop you'd probably get slugged with taxes I guess. Ps the starbuy price is now $3k, not sure what it was.
It's so hard to find a Better Quality version of the Vincero The Altitude watch. Too many watches don't have Actual numbers on them. The struggle is real
I can't quite get past the mis-match of the blue half of the bezel with the blue-green dial. I think this would have looked infinitely better if they'd been consistent with the colouring, or perhaps just used a solid colour on the bezel instead of two. But I'm really coming around to the Aquis line in general. Hoping to snatch a deal on one of the Calibre 400 models 🤞🤞
I've lost count of the amount of times I've popped into the London branch down Oxford street, staring at the bling of these things.i used to work at Bond Street station, literally round the corner. One day my arm will be twisted.
A day late here Jody, expensive is right especially with the new longines zulu gmt release. It is a true Gmt with cosh certification for the same money IMO better looking. That's where I would be going.
Golly that is a good looking watch. The niggles are spot on. There is plenty of area to get lume on the GMT hand. Even then I wish that I could afford one.
Tempted to sell the Aquis date with both new rubber strap and stainless steel bracelet, as the rubber doesn't sit the best on small wrist. This watch is tempting, or the Calibre 400 from Jomashop for US$1999? The rubber strap makes this watch, and is a lot lighter than the chunky blingy stainless bracelet.
Not sure why people are worried about no lume on the GMT hand. How often do you need to know the time in another country whilst being in the dark????? I've had my whale shark for over a year, it's my daily. It's well made and finished and so comfortable to wear..
@@JustOneMoreWatch Haven't been bad, weather has been very average of late though! Hope junior has been treating you well. The Red Relief is not a bad choice either, but something in those ProPilots really gets me fired up.
I’ve always liked Oris but if they’re charging that much then, at the very least, they need to regulating the movement. $3K for a base Sellita with a weak warranty just isn’t a competitive product at that price point.
I guess they want you to pay the premium for the cal400. With that movement I think it’s very competitive
$3k, I wouldn't pay more than $500, poor lume, naff movement, the crown guards look like a couple of piece of mechano, screwed on to a hockey puck that has been sprayed silver. Reminds me far too much of a Tissot Seastar 1000.
The best they got mine to with a service was +10s per day. A local watch Shop could have got it better but oris don't sell parts to 3rd party dealers.
I happen to own an Aquis myself, a nice compact 39.5 mm with pale green fumé dial and a tungsten bezel insert. It's probably the most comfortable watch I own, it's definitely one of my favourites!

Good point
That bezel, with those colors… Beautiful.

I have the same watch and totally agree with everything you said.
Ya, a very solid watch. The best type
that 5kx gmt is definitely gonna be an interesting section of the gmt market after the prices fall after a while
Review coming this weekend!
That bracelet integration looks great without being chunky like the typical Genta type designs
The colour and texture are amazing! The tough part would be finding a colour-matched ray skin strap!
I love Oris but I'm not a fan of this model at all. It's way too "busy" for my taste with that two tone silver bracelet, blue/black bezel, green face with white markers and orange highlights. Finally a watchmaker that's made a 3 time zone watch, very rare these days! Well done!
No lumed GMT hand? Oris has definitely dropped the ball on this aspect of the watch. That's unacceptable, especially at this price range.
Always liked the Oris Aquis line, along with the Longines Hydroconquest perhaps best "entry level" luxury dive watches. Still, not very keen on GMTs in a divers case, mind you, only from the practical side. Regards

I like everything about it except the fact they have an integrated bracelet. I want to be able to put it on different straps.
The Oris rubber strap is the best looking one around, do it
Cheers from Alaska Jodie!
8:16 I personally find that inner track GMT scale much easier to see and use. Nice dial indeed.
Rando q: With their Save the Oceans etc work, have Seiko ever pressured the Japanese government to stop “scientific” whaling?
Love the position of the date window.

You’re the reason I bought my first Oris GMT a couple years ago! Thanks for doing these reviews
I like how the date window, for July 6, fits in perfectly as the 6 for the 24 hour GMT marker....brilliant design detail!
Maybe they don't lume the gmt hand to make it less confusing if you're actually using it as a dive watch ?
I am looking at the Black 39.5mm or maybe even the 36mm
Yo Jodie... Great video as usual. However... Much I like the Aquis range, I've owned one myself, this is a DULL dial! Cheers from blighty, Jonathan

I got the blue dial GMT in a sale 1/3 off
great value at that price, I love it .
I hope I'm not the only one old enough to remember that sad music...
Steve, that's for the SIX other people who listed to DLT 🤣😜
The dial is rather subtle, but does look nice. I think it would have worked better if they had changed the blue section of the bezel to match the dial colour more though.
I love this watch. Each of my Ori wear so beautifully, and look spectacular on wrist. I've said it before, Oris are masters of blue, ocean colours.
Nice watch but somehow these Oris are always a little bit too shiny for my taste. Lacking lume on the GMT hand is no big deal imho because i don't need time zones under water. Then again, no idea how long everybody else's diving goes. 😉
I do like Oris watches, their quality is very good and this watch looks no different. Great job and love that dial texture 👍
Lovely looking watch. Great video as always Jody
Loved the Radio 1, Simon Bates homage !
😂 Only your Brit viewers of a certain vintage will be reminded of BBC Radio 1's Simon Bates. Lovely watch BTW.
Wow. It doesn't seem that long since your last Oris review. I bought another unusual limited Edition Oris in a similar sale from said online store a couple of months ago. Something I am glad I got but would not have paid full price for.
Dial looks awesome; though, I'm looking forward to the fully multicolor lumed cephalopod dial edition!
Thanks for that Zefferelli Moment. Nice.

I asked them about this watch and mentioned Jody's review and BAM - watch is now available for $2999 RRP
I was looking up Oris options last night actually

Really nice watch, but I don't understand why the bezel is a different shade of blue
I would say the Mido Ocean Star GMT, at a fraction of the price and with a "true" traveler's GMT function, is a much better prospect.
Nice watch for those who only want to check the second time in the daylight. I really like the dial texture though.....I wonder is there a red species of Whale Shark? 🤔😉 It's nice at a deal price but no GMT lume is a no for me.
Oris have the most beautiful diver watches!
how do you feel about the aseptic/unbranded all black samurai 'seiko'wstches? they're advertised as mod watches but complete nonetheless. let me know big bro
Love me some Oris. Omega could learn a thing or two from them about doing proper special editions.
Nice piece Jody.
I like it. Looks class. Dial texture works well.
i have one and love it. i was scared at the size but it wears great, also not a fan of the bottle cap case but again on the wrist its a beauty
Wow! That is a beautiful timepiece, but way out of my price range.
But what was your "our tune"?
Jody I love your shirt I give it five thumbs up
Jody, you're sharp and funny, an unbeatable combination - as long as the subtitles are turned on. Warm regards from London.
Ronald! Thanks. I think. ;)
Great looking watch, but a tad challenging at this price when obtaining my interest. But, nice nonetheless. Cheers.
Looks great but way more than I'd ever spend, Bought a Honda mini-moto for that price.
Looked like a Tissot when you first opened the box , then the miss match bezel hit me 🫡 another quality video as usual.
I seem to recall that Oris is your favorite brand to buy and love then sell and miss it then buy again and sell again for some reason and buy again....Do you still have the two tone with bronze? How is it aging?
I've still got it!! #4 🤣 bronze bezel doing nicely. You should see my bronze zelos mako, it's in a right state!
The GBRIII has been a grail watch for me ever since I saw your video. Not that I'd ever spend so much (or could) on a watch but its nice to dream!
Always said the hour hand is like a lighthouse....... 😋

Doood with all that rain down under you'll certainly need a decent diver! Hope you're safe and dry in Sidney. Take care!
Nice to see you Jody. Stay safe with the floods in NSW right now. Also be sure to check out some JDM Citizens! Keep it up!
I really fancy the one with the paper dial..... But it's expensive!
I've lost count of the amount of times I've popped into the London branch down Oxford street, staring at the bling of these things.i used to work at Bond Street station, literally round the corner.
One day my arm will be twisted.

I have the aquis depth gauge. Purchased from AD for 1/2 of retail price. I like it a lot but full retail is laughable.
Golly that is a good looking watch. The niggles are spot on. There is plenty of area to get lume on the GMT hand. Even then I wish that I could afford one.
3 Time zones! But the SIZE IS HUGE……my bad…. Great review Jody!
Love the dial, not a fan of the bracelet. Probably not a watch for me. Great video though!
That is one gorgeous watch!
Best opening Ever👍
Tempted to sell the Aquis date with both new rubber strap and stainless steel bracelet, as the rubber doesn't sit the best on small wrist. This watch is tempting, or the Calibre 400 from Jomashop for US$1999? The rubber strap makes this watch, and is a lot lighter than the chunky blingy stainless bracelet.
Bring on the Elephant or Rhino version.
Save the elephants watch? Why not! 🤣
I prefer shiny versions of this dial
Nice work Jody! Always been interested in this and it doesn’t disappoint 👍
Shades of Dave Lee Travis. Jody is showing both his roots and his age😀This is a nice Aquis but Oris' pricing is getting to be too high.
I had an Aquis GMT and loved it but the caller GMT movement is too damned inconvenient.
Nice. Very nice. If I had the $$$. Seems I've been saying that a lot lately. Great review with music at the emotional beginning.
I suspect only your UK viewers of a certain age will appreciate the 'Our Tune' reference.
Richard, I think you are one of six people who got the reference 😉
Hey hey, kids! Err, I mean, Jody!
I'm not sure about the texture itself, but I do like that shade of blue, very classy.
Love these types of affordable VFM watches, rather than the Chinese copies
Not sure why people are worried about no lume on the GMT hand. How often do you need to know the time in another country whilst being in the dark????? I've had my whale shark for over a year, it's my daily. It's well made and finished and so comfortable to wear..
Absolutely love this watch, wish I could afford to own one. we can but dream
I’m pretty sure our oceans are gonna outlast us. Sometimes we take ourselves too seriously. Nice watch! Oris is generally a great value.
If I won the Oris giveaway you ran, this is what I was going to get... or the Propilot GMT
Hey mate! Hope you are well. The winner picked a relief bezel red dial 41.5mm. Not a bad choice!
@@JustOneMoreWatch Haven't been bad, weather has been very average of late though! Hope junior has been treating you well. The Red Relief is not a bad choice either, but something in those ProPilots really gets me fired up.
OK. The last thing in the world I need is another diver/GMT. But that's a great looking watch for any price.
If that date was at the 6… money!
nice looking watch but if i were spending that much on a watch it wouldn,t be an oris
too expensive for a pressed clasp and that movement
Have never understood crown guards that do not fully protect the crown.
If they are removable, surely you could (should) have two options in the box?
It's a beautiful gmt, that I also wanted to get. But it's too big for me :(
Are you sure Tim? It wears well for a big boy.
So I would only wear this on the 6th of every month....
Hi
