Many fabrics have a coating on them from the manufacturer. Wash the fabric first, with cold water, dry, and iron. You have removed the coating that interferes with a good transfer. After you have made your imprint, soak it for an hour in a vinegar solution, then let it air dry. Iron the fabric with wax paper on the top-side and bottom-side of the imprint. The vinegar and heat help set the colors. Gently handwash in cold water when needed.
Dipping it in vinegar ruins it, it just get absorbed everywhere and just blur out
Suggestion: The flower imprints might be more permanent if you dip the fabric afterwards in a white vinegar bath. The vinegar will act as a mordant. XXOO
Mary Raab that’s a great tip
Can we use anything other than vinegar..
pure vinegar? or mixed up with water?
@@domenicasciaraffiapaecke8976 Generally use 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water. This is an excellent and helpful article. :) www.allnaturaldyeing.com/mordants-fixatives/
I would use a mixture of alum and vinegar. In my country this is how they fix natural dyes.
This mixture is also used in the hammerless ecoprint. 😉😉
Nature have much power to give us benefits but some people know that .
You done a excellent job.
Thanks
This was amazing, and the possibilities seem endless. Those dianthus flowers really seemed to make a gorgeous imprint. Now I think I'm going to have to buy a plant at the nursery just for this 🥰
Of all the different demonstrations and teaching I saw in the youtube, yours is the best and an excellent result. What a smart idea. The flower edges are so sharp and with more details. As Mary Raab mentioned it might be a good idea to dip the fabric in vinegar bath, and certainly it will act as a mordant. Let me try that. Thank you so much for demonstrating. God Bless You.
I tried this with pansy & wax paper to cover the flower and lightly iron it. I don’t know if I was lucky or if it always works, but it was on a sundress that belonged to my mother, on linen. The dress is over 110 years old & it was so pretty.
that sound like it would be so pretty
You can also put tracing paper or baking paper on the fabric before you hammer and it prevents spreading unwanted color that is stuck on the end of your hammer. :)
Stunning, can't wait to try! Thank you. 😊
Great project for a whimsical look! I love it.
Thank you! I have pressed pansies and always wanted to transfer the beauty to fabric. Can't wait to make something!
Wow it is so pretty, thank you for sharing.
Great idea and very easy too. Thank you.

Wow 😍
So beautiful an idea! Thanks a lot! Loved it!
See, you can use a hammer for every problem. 🙂 I think I would love to do a single leaf on a white t shirt just like a logo.
Beautiful 👌👌
Great video!
Beautiful ❤️
You have magic hands ❤hello from Poland
Fantastic
Beautiful!
Joanna Cleveland thank you 😊
Cool clip!
Have you used a ready to dye fabric. And have you used any fixation with your fabric after your hammering task is completed.
Sheri I love your videos 😘😘😘
If you used vinegar and salt, the paint would be fixed.
I wonder what would happen if you hand washed your dyed items in a citric acid solution. I use this for helping with the colour fastness of knitting yarn, when I dye with acid dye.
Very nice.
Wow
Can you do the same with leaves? And does one need to dip the fabric in vinegar
I did once.. but why the colours turned brown or dark? ☹
pretty gratitude
Thanks for the tips
Hey! I see someone has mentioned dipping the cloth in vinaigrette helps to prolong the work & colours. If there anything else that can be done so the flower pigments don’t disappear after machine wash? Thanks ☺️
Great!👍🏼
I've got a tip! I've got a tip I haven't tried...yet.
How about after, go over the coloured section with a clear candle, then Iron, heat press it being careful like a heat transfer?🤔
Very nice
Отличный урок! Я использую малярный скотч вместо изоленты) Чем фиксируйте био орнамент на ткани, уксусом?
Good job
Do we need to iron from ontop
Bonito👍
Beautiful.❤When did you post the next clip like this?
After all that ! When the fabric has to be washed, does the imprint of the flowers remain?
Or do I have to do something else before washing it ?
Thank you for your reply !
Plz guide me do I need to dip it in water with white viniger
Спасибо!Очень просто но очень эффективно! 100 баллов!
Its nice and simple. Is there any substitute for vinegar?
ive seen your vide and was hoping to use this method to adorn a linen men dinner jacket thoughts?jackets arent laundered all that often

Please answer my question...is the fade away by washing...?
These natural colours stay long?
is it colour going after washing the fabric?
👌😘❤️🌹
Do you pull the original flower from the piece of cloth? Thx!
Hi Sheri.. Beautiful napkin then...
O what name of that fabric? The fabric which is not highly wash for this projects?.. Pearson me, coz I couldn't hear enaugh what u said.. 🙏
Hello, can one use dried flowers to dye hair brown? If so, what flowers would I be able to use?
Hey this is so beautiful… i tried out this method but What can we do stop colour bleeding? When i wash with washing powder it turned out to someother colour… could you please help me with this!?
What kinds of flowers do you recommend?
Fabric stores (for quilting) sell products to help set the colors.
Do we need to prepare the fabric in some way before hammering the flowers on it? Wash it first?
Same question...can anyone help please?
I tried it with yellow flower on white fabric but it doesnt print the flower its only yellow stain on the fabric ....kindly guide me
I did it but after washing it (by hand) it faded most of the design:(
Hi Sherri. Is this fabric pretreated and did you do anything after hammering and removing the flowers (like rinse or wash) thanks Ana
@@chrissywrites or maybe this video before she did workshop?..
I wonder what type of fixated after thathammering procces...
Thanks
Hello im from indonesia. I have question ,Do you use a mixture, so that the color of the flower does not fade?.
Good question?
It's called mordant or dye fixatives.
There are various chemical fixatives available in the market otherwise you can use alum or iron as natural mordants
pake tawas atau cuka mbak
@@mariaannainditahernawati7132 full cuka atau bisa dicampur air ya?
Can this work with roses too?
Very cute . But does these colors stay for long?? And do they become dark over time which i personally wouldn't like.... Please let me know
To make the color last longer you would need to mordant the fabric before hand
@@shielabryant1246 so soak the fabric in vinegar and salt before hammering the flowers in? And resoak in vinegar and salt after hammering them in?
Hii! Can we use any kind of tape?
Wen d CLR fades v cn reclr wd same flowers....cool
Can we do d same for leaves print.🤗😇🤔🤓
How long does the colour last.?
Hello, I have question🙋 there's no need wet fabric before DIY or after putted flowers no need to steam it?? Please tell me...I am waiting
she ironed it afterward
Do you really need to use the tape?
Can i know what types of fabric did you use?
It should be cotton .
i wonder if irises or daffodils would work
Is the cloth is wet or dry ?
Qualquer tecido ?
Wouldn't they be removed after washing? How to lock the color?
The reason I found this video is because I just saw another video on the history of poinsettias where they said that people used to use them to dye fabric. I wonder how this technique would work with them.
I love your voice what kind of ascent do you have?
Snowy Kitten127 I’m from Australia
Mi scusi ma dopo il lavaggio vanno via le stampe dei fiori???
Hi l am new can u use red roses
Which fabric did you used??
Is it washable???? Colour will not remove after washing??? How to wash??
The only colour that was left after the first was was yellow. All the pink, reds, blues and violets vanished in the wash
