      My Second Indian scout was stolen 2 days ago from across the street from my place. I left it at 6pm. came out at midnight to take it to the garage and it was gone. Now im about to buy the indian chief dark horse and I will need to get the best and most reliable GPS out there to protect a $21k bike. Thank you blockhead for the very helpful video. Besides this Invoxia tracking device, what would be the ones you would recommend me? Please !!!! recommend me a top 3! Thanks again. I just became your new subscriber.

    LEO in a major city here. I still recommend LoJack. Many of our patrol cars as well as our helicopters are equipped with LoJack trackers that automatically alert us when we’re close to a stolen vehicle. It gives us make, model, color, tag, and VIN, and updates distance and direction from us in real time. I’ve recovered several stolen cars and bikes over the years by just driving around the city on a slow night.
    Also, in my experience, dirt bikes and dual sports are by far stolen the most.

    Some time back i watched a documentary about motorcycle and scooter theft in London. street gangs steal like crazy over there. This tip is comming from a guy from one of the gangs. He says that the best thing you can do is to cover up your motorcycle. If they are not able to see what they are potentially stealing, they will not bother. They do not know if the bike has an alarm, if it is chained etc. If your bike is covered they will take the oncovered one next to it instead..

    I've had two bikes stolen. And that is why I gave up on bikes for almost 13 years.
    One) was stolen out of my house, the bike was lock with disk locks and a chain and they still managed to take. Second bike) I was riding the bike on a small street, I had just bought the bike and was getting the feel of the bike before heading out for a real ride on the street. Two guys pulled up on me with a gun and literally pulled me off the bike at gun point and road off. That was it for me and bikes I was done. Until earlier this year when my friend tried to get me back into motorcycles again.

    Great primer on motorcycle theft. A side note: Most (if not all) insurance companies give you a discount if you have an anti-theft device on the bike. My '03 Heritage has had the anti-theft device since it was new and I've never had a problem (though the device has never gone off) and I've stayed at many hotels, some of them kinda seedy. Just lucky I guess. Ride on.

    GPS tracker can be stopped by putting the bike in a tin shed, or even in the back of a van. GSM trackers are thrown off just by parking the bike against a building. The best systems are the constantly monitored ones like LoJack (Datatool Tracker in the UK), but they also have their drawbacks in that the recovering of your bike will then be carried out within the law or not at all. Police have a different primary purpose in their actions, you want your bike back even if that means no arrest but they want the arrest even if that means the bike gets stripped or trashed.
    A large dog bowl and lead just outside the garage does more to prevent theft than any alarm or tracking system.

    I met a rider a few years ago that got creative and rigged his bike to basically catch on fire by remote and a child got hurt. What happened was, his bike was stolen and and he tracked it to a residence. He said he did alert the proper authorities but they couldn't help right away and he got impatient.
    So he armed that device and finds out that the bike was being stored in a garage that caught on fire. Long story short, the thieves were caught but that rider has to do some jail time. He said that he was pretty sure it was because a child was burned.
    This story is unreal and I'm surprised it didn't make on the news.

    This may sound stupid, but if you have an IPhone couldn’t you use the new Airtags to track your bike if it gets stolen?

    • @BlockheadMoto
      @BlockheadMoto  3 года назад

      AirTags are reliant on an iPhone Bluetooth network, thus it isn’t self sufficient. This GPS has a cellular chip in it, so not reliant on other people or iPhones.

    • @mattinvoxia3515
      @mattinvoxia3515 3 года назад

      As Blockhead mentioned, AirTag's rely on Bluetooth and being in close proximity to an iPhone. An additional benefit of a true GPS tracker is that you're able to access the tracker's complete travel history, and provide the authorities with all the data they need to recover the bike/convict the thief. The AirTag is extremely limited in what data it can provide (only showing you the last known position, nothing more).

Even though it's locked behind a gate, in a locked garage, disc lock, chain lock and guarded by 3 vicious dogs & unmedicated roommates.. I think I've gone above and beyond. 🤭 But I do live in a city that thieves have been steeling all 4 tires off cars in broad daylight. 😳 😡

    To be fair you can’t prevent theft; try the kickstand truck with a Harley-Davidson Jiffy Stand you won’t get far…

    New 2022 Chief has no fork lock, and no key ignition. I can start with the fob or a pin to turn the ignition on. There is a spot for fork locks, Indian just didn’t give us one 😑

    Still better off buying a dog collar gps tracker. They get better battery life and quicker pings.

    it's so easy to steal a bike. I've helped a few guys with their bikes with my mini van. I can fit sport bikes 750 or less short wheel base. no prob.
    I try to leave my bike as close to me as possible

    If a thief really wants it he will get it.
    Buddy of my father inlaw had a garage on the back of his yard. You had to get 20-30 meters on the property to get to the garage door. He had cameras and guard dogs (had own security company) they just road up on the fire exit on the back of the property. Broke the roof(wood and this shingles kind) and lifted out his cvo road king with a crane.

    Another great video Block! As far as any type of locking anti theft device is concerned, try checking out "lockpickinglawyer" on You-tube. It's absolutely AMAZING how quick, and easy some locks can be bypassed with even the least amount of skill. But then again, the simplest of locks, is still a time killer when someone is trying to take what isn't theirs, so... Keep up the great work.🖤✌
