You got your Pentaholics, your VoicePlayers, and your Home Fries. I consider myself all three.
Same here! The absolute trifecta of the acapella world.
It's the a capella trifecta: Pentatonix (pop music), Home Free (country music), and Voice Play (theater). They can all do it all, but all offer something a little different. Love them!!!!
I think the reason I love a capella is that they have to be so creative-plus I just love vocal music.
Please don't leave out Voctave!
@@jayZ1981 And Peter Hollens, Peter Barber, The Bass Gang, Jared Halley. All fantastic.
HF does other genres too.
@@ShyAnn291 Occasionally, but mostly they stay in the country lanes.
VoicePlay is amazing, and their acapella harmonies are beautiful ! How about an accoustic version of Nothing Else Matters ! Check out a young lady performing live, just her and her guitar in front of an audience on the streets of Dublin ! From 1 year ago you'll find the video on her RUclips channel !
The young lady is Allie Sherlock !
🎸🎤🎶
Geoff Castellucci (bass) also has a solo channel
J None (baritone) previous member left for navy will return
Eli Jacobson (tenor) amazing rock voice
Caesar De Rosa (baritone) so smooth
Layne Stein (beatboxer) amazing sounds also known as Violayne
They all have amazing ranges, amazing talent, love them all
Enjoy your reaction!. VP is self produced, No label and backed strictly by Patreon. Layne and Tony (former member) have Pattycake Production and VP does most of the filming there Geoff and Layne do the arranging Eli does lighting and backdrops, and each member contributes to the whole. PTX and Home Free (both good) but not self contained.
Awesome reaction. VP is so varied in what they do, and I think, the most entertaining.
Also, please, please, don't stop their videos too soon. You may think they're done, but often, they add a little something extra at the end. It could be more music or something funny. Just be aware that that's something VP do.
Also, Geoff has his own channel. You can learn to sing low from him. He teaches people how. Thank you!
I appreciate your kind words and thanks for watching
1st HOMEFREE , another brilliant acapella group. See 'A man of constant sorrow'
2nd GEOFF CASTILUCCI, the bass singer you liked. See 'Misty Mountains Cold'. He sings all 4 parts
I'm going to go backwards starting with Layne (VioLyne/Carrot Lord and founding member does about half the song arrangements and co own Patty Cake Productions along with former voiceplay member Tony), Ceasar (newest member and a pure joy to listen to) Eli (does the lighting and effects, if you notice his shoes have white souls, while everyone else is in total black, Rock God), J None (former member of Voiceplay, left when he was recruited by the Navy, promised he'd be back (love it when he's on leave and can join the guys)), and Geoff (founding member, Baritone with a bass range 😁, believed not to be fully human, does about half the arrangements, has his own channel that will take you down a whole new rabbit hole 🎉)
You should check out Just Sing (with cc on) this will help you find out some of the people they have collaborated with.
Geoff - sounds like "Jeff," bass but technically a low baritone with an insanely extended 5 octave range, so he can hit low notes that rattle subwoofers ("Halo") and belt out tenor notes like a rock god ("Queen in 5 Minutes" and his solo channel version of "Sound of Silence"). He is THE master of subharmonics, those gravelly low notes. Geoff's subharmonics sound so pure, voice teachers are sometimes unsure if it's a sub or him stretching into his lowest chest range.
J.None - sounds like "Jay Nun," baritone/tenor, he left the group to serve in the Navy. He's now the frontman for the Navy Band Northwest. We're all hoping he returns after his service because his voice has such depth to it, he melts hearts with that warm and smooth baritone, he's a master of runs, and he sometimes raps, so he takes the group to an entire new level.
Eli - sounds like "Elly," short for Eliezer, tenor, designated "rock god" of the group, he specializes in his raspy rock/metal voice and high belts. His highs are mindblowing. He hits notes that Whitney Houston used to belt out.
Cesar - sounds like "See-sar," newest member after J.None left, baritone/tenor, he spans the theatrical range of innocent child you want to hug ("I Can't Make You Love Me"), silly goofball you want at your party ("We Don't Talk About Bruno"), and terrifying pirate/berserker you slowly back away from ("Hoist the Colors" and "Valhalla Calling").
Layne - as in "he can't stay in his lane" because this guy beatboxes like he swallowed a drum kit, does character voices like he's the entire Disney show, plays violin like an 18th century maestro ("Warriors"), and sings baritone like a gentle angel ("True Colors").
...
Also, Geoff has a solo channel. I recommend "Sound of Silence" which is one of my all-time favorite covers of that iconic song, "Way Down" to see his dance moves, "High and Dry" for how insane his range actually is, but his most popular, the one that really catapulted him as a solo artist, is "Misty Mountains Cold" which is chillingly good. He covers ALL the vocals. With 5 octaves, he basically IS THE ENTIRE ACAPELLA GROUP!
If you think Geoff's bass notes are low in this song, you should check out The Dragonborn Comes. He goes even lower. It's one of my favorite songs of theirs. Another favorite of mine is This is Halloween.
Geoff, the bass, has an exceptionally deep voice naturally. However, when he pushes it even deeper, he uses a technique called subharmonics. In reality, it's the technique that doesn't hurt to do. Once mastered, subharmonics just happen without much thought... he is actually singing a pitch exactly one octave higher, the vocal cords are relaxed to the point they go into fry, and if done correctly, the voice drops exactly 1 octave.
Bit of trivia regarding Layne and the violin (the fandom has nicknamed him VioLayne; he played one in their cover of Warriors as well): that is a real violin in the video, and he did actually play it while filming. But it's a cheap prop used mostly for looks--hence how they felt able to toss it around to get the shot where it just flies in from off-screen and he casually catches it and starts playing. The violin you hear is Layne's personal instrument, which he pre-recorded himself playing. The beatboxing is also pre-recorded, not because Layne can't beatbox and play the violin at the same time, but because it looked a bit odd when he did so during filming and the guys decided it would be better to just play it in the background.
Another fabulous acapella group is Home Free. Right up there with PTX and VoicePlay in vocal talent, they have their own unique style, and while they lean country-ish, they do it all: R&B, Pop/Rock, classic. Along with VoicePlay, they are favorite group (and I'm not a country fan!).
I love VoicePlay and this is my favorite song that I didn't know existed until I heard them do this on my birthday. What a gift! We are VoicePlayas. 4:05 Geoff Castellucci (bass on my left), J None (visiting at the moment since he's in the Navy right now - was a member here - comes back on leave) baritone, Eli (rhymes with jelly) Jacobsen great rock tenor, Cesar De La Rosa (newest member) sweetest voice, great range baritone to high tenor - see Dream On, Layne Stein beatboxer extraordinaire, baritone, and violinist. If you want to see something with a good sense of humor - see In the Hall Of The Mountain King.
Left to right is Geoff (pronounced like Jeff), J. None, Eli (pronounced like Ellie), Cesar, and Layne. Love acapella. Subscribed!
L to R. Geoff Castellucci Bass, J. None former member Baritone, Eli (Ellie) Jacobson Tenor, Cesar De La Rosa Tenor/Baritone, Layne Stein Beatboxer, Baritone. J. None is currently the new frontman for Navy Band Northwest! When he's home on leave to Florida he gets together with the guys and makes videos. Hello Violayne.
Left to right: Geoff (pronounced Jeff) is the base, Jay None (used to be in the group, but left to join the Navy.) Is the baritone, Eli (rymes with jelly) is rock tenor amazingness! Then Cesar is tenor/baritone, and Layne is beatboxer.
Geoff Castellucci (has a solo channel too), J None, Eli Jacobson (eli rhymes with jelly), Cesar de la Rosa, Layne Stein. This was arranged by Geoff. Video by Layne and Eli. Oh and we can what Layne did at the end the Violayne.
For a man who is in the navy J.None as a great voice. Geoff is a sub harmonic bass voice because he uses his entire vocal range from his throat to his chest and back again.
Fans of Voiceplay are Voiceplayas.
I have really enjoyed you watching my favorite acapella groups, and seeing the magic they do together!! PTX is my favorite, but Voiceplay is a very close second! Eli (bald guy) sounds like the lead singer of Journey from the 70's. He could be a rock star if he wanted! You'll find Voiceplay is more "theatrical" with their choices, whereas PTX is more "top 40's" sound. Both of them are incredibly talented. Also, I suffer from severe chronic pain, and the bass singers in these groups help me manage my pain, something to do with sound frequencies. The lower notes (you said they were your favorite) help me manage my pain somehow. I don't question it any more. I love coming back and re-watching reaction videos of these 2 groups, so I am really excited about you doing more of both groups!! Can you do Stranger Things next? They have a guest singer who does the female parts. I love how they have guest singers in their songs.
Thanks for watching
Have you seen the Bass Gang, Patti? They did Hooked on a Feeling feat. Tim Roust recently. How about Valhalla Calling by Miracle of Sound feat Peyton Parrish & Eric Hollaway?
Voiceplayers seems to be the term Voiceplay fans have decided to go with. Left to right:
Geoff Castellucci - (bass, but also can do baritone and tenor)
J.None - (beautiful silky smooth tenor/baritone)
Eli Jacobson - (pronounced like if you were to speak the letters "L" "E")
Ceasar De La Rosa - (the newest permanent member of the band), and
Layne Stein - (vocal percussionist/beatboxer and, in this song, violinist)
I think we call ourselves Voiceplayas, but I haven’t actually heard anyone say that about themselves. LOL. Anyway, great reaction!! More please!!
We are Voiceplayers, and we are very loyal! I subscribed as soon as you did Valhalla Calling.
Some Voiceplay suggestions:
Golden Hour - sweet and weird
I Can't Make You Love Me - will break your heart
Dream On - amazing
WIll be here for Voiceplay and Geoff when you get started on his solo work!
Thanks and I will take a note of thisb
I like to call these three groups ( Pentatonix, VoicePlay and Home free) 'Beat-Bass-Acapella'! Pentatonix did the cover Radioactive with violinist Lindsey Stirling (great vid).
Always glad to see someone discover the talent and creativity of VoicePlay! Some favorites: Hoist the Colours, Warriors, Carry On Wayward Son, Tennessee Whiskey, Dream On, the Wicked Medley, Queen in 5 Minutes. And they OWN Disney! No one does it better!
Left to right: Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci, J. None, Eli (elly) Jacobson, Cesar De La Rosa, Layne Stein. That's the guys!
left to right...Geoff Castellucci bass,.......J.. None, former member of Voiceplay, is currently in the Navy, when on leave, still collaborates with them......Eli (Ellie) Jacobson.....Rock God.......Cesar Delarosa......Layne stein, beatboxer extrordinere.......>^^
Enjoyed the reaction! 'Hear that bass?' All the time! Love listening to this group!
I agree with you - FIRE! So glad you are taking this acapella rabbit hole deep dive. Great reaction for a fantastic performance.
Hey mate.........another great reaction. PTX has sent you on a whole new track! Good stuff!
Great reaction! I suggest adding Home Free and Voctave to your list (if you haven't already). All four groups are exactly the same. NOT!! They are all amazing, but they have very different styles. I have said many times it's easy to pick MY favorite... It's the group I'm listening to at the moment! For Voice Play, based on the two(?) you have reacted to, I would suggest these two for being WAY different... 1) In The Hall Of The Mountain King. 2) The Little Mermaid Medley. SO many others, but those two are great examples of their versatility, AND they each feature a different visiting Female vocalist. Great reaction! I liked and subscribed. See ya around!
Awesome reaction.
Left to right...
Geoff Castelucci- Bass/Arrangements.
J None- Guest/Baritone/Former Member.
Eli (elly) Jacobson - Tenor/Rock Tenor.
Cesar De La Rosa - Baritone/Tenor.
Layne Stein - Beatboxer/Baritone/Arrangements.
Layne aka VioLayne has been playing since middle school. He is now 42.
The way Geoff can sing a melody line with his ultra-low bass voice is mind-blowing! Suggestion would be to listen to Avi Kaplan's "Change is on the Rise", as well. So many great singers in all the a capella groups!!
VoicePlay fans are called VoicePlayas
Aye I like that
I love that!
I believe you'll really enjoy Voiceplays cover of Dream on as well as Phantom of the Opera
Enjoyed the reaction! Love watching people who love music as you do! EAch of the groups have their own flavor and spin and wonderful-ness about them, but VP is my favorite!
The king of bass vocals is GEOFF from voiceplay with lowest chest note on F#1, lowest subharmonic note on B0 and lowest growl note on A0. The other king of BASS is TIM FOUST from HOME FREE THE GROWL MASTER.
ELLIOT ROBINSON PURE BASS, SO DEEP. MARWAN AYMAN IS OTHER BASS SINGER WITH A LOW B0 ON SUBHARMONICS, LIKE GEOFF. ERIC HOLLAWAY TRUE BASSO PROFONDO
And then the other basses. ONLY THIS 5 GUYS CAN HIT THE CRAZIEST LOW NOTES
the bass line : GEOFF CASTELLUCCI.....please listen " SEVEN NATION ARMY" of voiceplay.......
Left to right, Geoff (say it as Jeff) Castellucci, J.None, Eli (say it as ellie) Jacobson, Cesar de la Rose, Layne Stein, sometimes known as violayne, for obvious reasons. Fans are just known as VoicePlayers. Alsmost all their covers are pure a capella but here and in Warriros they bring in violins to give it an extra kick. It would be very tricky to do the guitar solo with just voice. I'm sure it could be done but might not sound as effective. Lovely reaction. :)
You always make me smile, but your yahoo made me laugh out loud😁.
Lol
VoicePlaya here... go on please!
🔥🔥💯💯💯💯
Great reaction! Thank you.
You’re welcome

Got you thanks for the sub
Please react to their wicked medly! You'll love it I promise!
Will do thanks
If I heard you correctly you said your daughter loves the violin. Then it is a must that she be introduced to Lindsey Stirling. She plays the violin and dubstep and over backwards never missing a note on the violin. My favorites Are round table rival , shatter me featuring
Lzzy Hale from Halestorm And lose you now
I’ll check it out
left to right: geoff (jeff), j none, eli, cesar and layne
VoicePlayers
L-R
Geoff (Bass), J-None (Bara-tenor), Eli (pronounced L-E, Rock tenor), Layne (Vocal percussion) because he is so much more than just a beat- boxer.😂
You're now a Voiceplayer
💯💯💯💯
The New Boyz 2 Men ;)
On it
Geoff, j none, Elle, ? And lane
You need to listen Pentatonix Imagine!
IMO, VoicePlay can't be beat for creativity, period. You won't hear generic rhythms or harmonies from them, ever. They add something fresh, or they don't do it. Left to right: Geoff Castellucci (Jeff) bass - but 5 octaves: J None: usually baritone, but can sing bass to tenor. Eli (rhymes with jelly) Jacobson - rock tenor, but has covered low backup notes for Geoff when he's doing a solo. Cesar De La Rosa - baritone - but he catches the high note in Dream On (don't miss it). Layne Stein - beatbox. aka vioLayne. Sings baritone, but can do inhale notes lower than Geoff's subharmonics. Layne has only played violin 2X for VoicePlay - the other time was Warriors. We had to wait 3 years to hear it again. Geoff and Layne each do roughly 50% of the arrangements and videos. Eli is increasingly doing the lights and sets. When there are backdrops created on Unreal Engine (like Enemies, Valhalla Calling or My Mother Told Me) that's Eli. Because they each have an incredible range, they don't stay in their own lane so (for instance) you might hear harmonies where the bass does a run all the way up into tenor. They weave their voices together in a magical way.
U just gave me a lesson thanks also thanks for the support
If you really want to see the wonder that is Geoff Castellucci, check out Oogie Boogie's Song at ruclips.net/video/EbxkOntz2SA/видео.html
