Voiceplay is starting off the year strong. J. None and VioLayne were the perfect combo to take this arrangement over the edge. Apparently Layne played classical violin for 11 years. There is nothing this group can't do!

VoicePlay is always very respectful of the original when they go to arrange their own version. I think that's why they always come out so well.
As others have pointed out, check out their cover of Warriors to see more VioLayne and J on violin as well.
You should also check out Geoff's solo channel. I think you would really enjoy his videos as well, and you get a chance to hear his full range. Plus he plays the piano, so you get to see that too.
I'm looking forward to more VP reactions from you.

This one has broken everyone who has watched this. Then vioLayne showed up and it broke us all over again. I cried with the original, and I cried with the cover. Amazing. Loved the reaction.

Just so you know, Eli is pronounced to rhyme with jelly, or belly, it's short for Eliezer. On this occassion Geoff was the arranger amd added: Layne's violin into the arrangement. If you watch their Warriors you will see more of Layne's violin and also J.None on on violin. :)

So in this case, Geoff was the director, not Layne. They let us know who does it in the notes of their video. Geoff arranged it and planned and directed. Watch enough Voiceplay and you'll know when Geoff or Layne arranges without even reading the notes, though - they have very different styles, both brilliant. Geoff blew us all out of the water this time.

I never recovered from the shock of Layne's violin when they released Warriors - and this is incredibly gorgeous, a perfect opportunity to hear it again. It's been a long wait, but this is stunning and Layne's violin is outrageous. Again.

I mean, it's super simple violin riff. I don't think he used more than one or two strings. Just send a link to TwoSet and get their opinion on some pop-ish violin riffs.

@@DustinPlatt From my perspective it's far more about tone and choice than it is about complexity. Like voices, sometimes less is more.

I love the part where the music swells and out of nowhere comes the violin. I keep listening to it between watching reactors listen to it and it might just edge out, Hoist the Colours as my favorite and I didn’t think they could ever do that. On top of that it’s a metal song and I don’t listen to metal, but I guess I do now!

  • @bethwalsh9020

I am glad I'm not the only one who didn't know the original. All the reactors are like, "everyone knows this song" and I'm over here feeling like I've failed Gen X. I have since listened to Metallica and a couple other versions, but since I heard Voiceplay's version the first time I have been obsessed. Definitely their best work and Geoff's best arrangement (as others said, its pronounced Jeff).
Definitely check out lots more Voiceplay and also Geoff's solo work.
PS - I adore the lipstick color you are wearing, it looks fabulous on you!

  • @carinarodebak9419
    @carinarodebak9419 Год назад +3

It's said Ellie, short for Eliezer. He is a former rock tenor, this is perfect for him.
Geoff= Jeff is the arranger this time. Shares the work with Layne. Geoff often like to start with some humming and can also interspace it if he deems it necessary.
Layne has played violin for many years. Violayne breaks out also in Warriors where he also beatboxer whilst playing. JNone also yields a violin in that cover, shortly. Warriors is considered the prequel to Dream On in the VoicePlay chronicles.

I also was not familiar with the song and checked it out but I did not know what was coming. I’ve been listening to this for a couple of weeks since I’m a patron and every time I watch it I am still blown away every single time. As much as you enjoyed, is there others I was thrilled to see that you did a reaction on this one.

Great reaction! Just FYI, Geoff is pronounced “Jeff” and Eli is short for Eliezer, so Eli rhymes with belly. LOL. No idea when J.None’s term in the Navy is up but he’s said he’ll come back and I hope that’s true. You just saw why. And VioLayne! The only other time Layne has treated us to his violin is the song Warriors-which you should definitely check out. And if you’re wanting to hear more from Cesar (I love his voice) there are several shorts that give him more play, and he does have some great opportunities to shine in their medley from Wicked.
Seriously, I enjoyed this reaction! Definitely check out more by Voiceplay!

Almost all of VoicePlay's arrangements are done by Geoff or Layne. Geoff's rule of thumb (and I assume Layne's as well) is that 1) Don't bother doing an arrangement if you can't bring something new to it, but 2) Don't go so way out with the arrangement that no one can recognize the original song.
