Very true. Wheat roti is the biggest culprit for most of the diseases in North India. Last few years I am on 1roti whole day more rice and vegetables. Sprouts in the morning for Protein I never gain weight 😊 I look younger than my age. I don't say this but people.😜
Thanx fr all info. 1) Fr the last 30 years - China/Japan & South Indians are influenced by western diet, so nowadays the people are obese. 2) In South India, last 5-7 years, there are options now - no need to eat white/ processed/ polished rice. 3) Very very traditional rice varieties in red/ brown/ cream & black colours are available. They are grown in Chennai. 4) These have the full grain intact with the bran. The taste is different - you need to get used to it. Goes well with all gravies & stews like Dal/ Channa/ Rajma/Sambar/ Rasam/ Avial etc. 5) Soak it overnight - (8) hours. Wash well - Cook it in traditional method - open pan with lid method. No need to remove starch. 6) Some of the varieties are - Karup Kavuni/ Mapillai Chamba/Poongar/ Navara rice/ Rajamudi/ Khichali Chamba/ Thuya Malli rice/ red rice/ Moongil - bamboo rice/ Kullakkar rice/ Kattuyanam rice etc. (Pls. Note - Bamboo rice is heat - so eat less often). 7) They are expensive than white rice but cheaper than your medical bills! 8) Do try them & check out if it works fr you. 9) Maybe online order will work.
