This song gives me the chills. Back when I was still in high school my mom would ask me to play Chrono Cross just so she could listen the soundtrack. I mean it's an incredible soundtrack, she was not wrong.

Back in 2003 ( i think), I considered this OST as the best one ever.After 20 years i still find it the best OST ever. Can't get old.
I am lucky to have had a childhood with some great RPGs in that time.

this is, SO FAR, the best Orchestral Version of this song... Teroniss is right about the flute; everyone else used a Piccolo and the pitch of the instrument kind of through the song off.. *reads through the sheet music*
is it just me, or did it sound like the Iconic percussion wasn't as clear and pronounced as the studio version.. I couldn't really hear the snare.

Personally I'll always love the original best but this was a very good job for live performance. I'm more of a studio guy - I love everything to be perfectly mic'ed and mixed. With Time's Scar for example, the strings are usually too soft compared to the drums. For a live version this is good though.

I believe Teroniss is referring to IGC version. It is a matter of taste but it could have been worse. I've seen a VGO performance where the flute line was played on a synthesizer (a Nord, I believe). And the keyboard player didn't even use the pitch bend wheel leaving that lack of legato very sensitive. Not to mention that this version has an unnecessary drums.
About this performance, as with most played versions, the instrument with the most accurate execution is the acoustic guitar. On the other hand, when the whole band joins in, the string suit starts the phrase an octave higher and that bothers me a little.
About the flute solo. I have great respect for Laura Intravia's (the flute player) work and her performances on video game themes. Her solo in this performance is indisputably flawless.
But overall, this performance for me is the second best, just behind the IGC version with the piccolo solo.
