      Hammer does get new moves. Clutch Claw introduced new moves. Rise introduced a way to jump spin without the need of a ledge or slide. I think that's gone tho? Oh well, back to normal difficulty I guess.

    Looks like they added Keeping Sway from Sunbreak into the base kit as a mobility tool that lets you keep your charge level, except this time it's performed with a grapple hook and not with a wirebug. Loved this silkbind in Sunbreak, happy to see its back.

      Hell yes!I love the weighty, deliberate World-style hammer, but when I played Rise, I really thought Keeping Sway was so good. Now we have both and I couldn’t be happier.

      This is why I tend to appreciate the non mainline games dating back to XX especially that people tend to accuse of being too fast, too foreign. They will always use it to experiment and incorporate some elements into the mainline game to change the rigidness and clunkiness. All they have to do to circumvent our increased power is to make the monsters harder as they did in the past. They honestly should get more credit than the main titles.

      @@AxeMain Sure the specifics don't really matter to me as long as they get recognition but personally I would say more because it pushes innovation which work which is obviously more difficult than minor QoL changes. I always like to reward devs who do so even if at first they fail.

    Looks like wirebug somewhat lives on in the form of the grapple hook.
    I think thats great considering it really helped with mobiltiy for a bunch of weapons and in general just looks cool moving around.

      @@GirlyKat9001 Those are brains. If you look, the hammer has the plague mask beak and where your head would be, it's a blue brain. The hammer also appears to have water element. What's a brain comprised of? (Water) Plague doctor armor sets too. There's *nothing* tribal about it.

    Seeing this made me feel nestolgic in a way, I decided to jump back a few years and play 2 classics for me at the time, Monster hunter 3 and 4, they are a staple to my childhood, monster hunter in general is a staple to my childhood, easily the best game series ever made and I cannot wait to play Wilds when it comes out.

      That's power stance (we had access to this in world as well) certain hammer moves do get a bit of flinch resistance while in this state specially against smaller mosnter.

    This is so appealing, I told myself not to go back on the old hammer, wanna try the other weapons too.. I can feel the tremors of the hammer hard hits through the screen. Wonder if the slide attacks has been leveled, the hammer spin somersault was definitely a big reason for me in world.

    As someone who never ran hammer without Keeping Sway when Sunbreak dropped, it's amazing they're working it into the hammer's base moveset in this game.
    Also that equipment design tho???? The plague doctor armor/mad scientist Brain hammer??? Between this and thet spider/moth gear they showed off for Charge Blade, this game might have some of the best looking low/high rank gear in the series.

      Seriously! I had my issues with world, but im so SO glad they are not going back to the "metal/bone weapon with monster hide wrapped on" design it had. One of the biggest aspects I love about monster hunter is the armor and weapon designs, so im glad they arent making the same mistake again!

      @@tepigninja7198 I think since the huge success of MH world, they can afford doing all the assets for the weapons ( it's costly to have that detailled models for each weapons, henceforth they used the KFC drumsticks cheap versions in world at the time)

      ​@@Eellex501at least for Iceborne they added Layered Weapons that became highly customizable with different metal/bone bases and the parts, and even some that never existed, like Ruiner Nergigante Parts on a common Base.
      I of course hope they lean more towards unique weapons this time around, but I'd accept a system similar to World so long as the parts look nice lol

    I've rewatched this 10 times and I still can't get over how sick this is. The fact that they just made Keeping Sway (wirebug dash from Sunbreak) part of our base kit is almost too much to even fathom. We were already SO mobile but now?? Like oh my GOD... This is the biggest change Hammer has ever received in a mainline title game and it's not even close, this looks incredible and I've never been so excited to be a Hammer main

      @@rosenrot234 You might notice that when they land the really big attacks animation kind of pauses for a brief second. Its supposed to emphasize the weight behind these attacks and makes it feel like you are actually using a heavy weapon.

      It kinda lacks the higlag from World but it looks great so far, some weapons like IG, LS and even GS kinda looks like low impact but maybe it will feel better in-game

      Remeber that HH can technically cut tails, you can have bonk, groove, and cut tails! (Hilt stab in MHW is a cutting move, technically can cut tails)

      I think that change might make hammer alot more floaty and reduce the risk/reward of charging. I'd be okay with that move if they brought styles back and added it to the valor moveset. I'm scared that every weapon is going turn into dashing all over the place and parrying every attack.

    This is officially the point for me where they've shown off enough unique and interesting weapon and armor designs that I no longer have any worries about this game having rather bland equipment aesthetics the way World did at launch. The first few trailers had me cautiously worried they'd make that mistake again after returning to World's artstyle, but I'm very happy to be proven wrong.
