Haha just in time.. I was thinking to do the same thing with my Vega. But did know how to start exactly...thanks for the tips. This gives me the motivation..I will star and 2 or 3 weeks.. but I will love to do the Oper deck as well. Must remove everything I gest lifeline stanchion ??? Thank again 🖐
Yes we will be painting our deck soon also. We will be removing mast and deck fittings before painting. Episode 31 video is better showing our new paint job as we had to do it again
This was 6 months ago. I had the laugh you said a good window no rain. I was in a betting parlor in Dublin and wanted to place a bet that it would rain the next day. I just wanted a sure bet. They said everyone knows it rains everyday here. I was thinking you must of been dreaming. Fun to watch this again. How's the install going? Have a happy Easter
Hey. Sorry for the late reply. The install was put on the back burner for a bit as I had exams. But we are back at it again now so trying to get caught up.
Hi Adam. Sorry i'm only getting to reply now. Thanks for your message, I really appreciate it. Where are you from? Have you any sailing experience? There are a few clubs around that are happy to let people sail and crew for them. There's a facebook gtoup too called sailing and cruising NI (SCNI) and SCNI crewfinder all good ways to get a taste of sailing and build experience.
I'm currently living in Aughnacloy, County Tyrone so unfortunately not too close to the sea. Went and bought a boat on Sunday there a little 17ft hurley silhouette mk3 little boat to learn on, pick it up on Saturday coming. Was hoping to berth it at Oxford Island on lough neagh but they have a big waiting list. Cheers i must join those groups on Facebook. Looking forward to seeing more footage 😀
Vega Rose has be there for 20 years apparently. The young owner sadly passed away and now it sits neglected in the boat yard. I'm sure it would be given away free to anyone that wanted it, or had the time to fix her.
Hi, Shame about the 3rd coat.Maybe there is a time limit on adding extra coats, so its OK to roll on another if it is within 12 hours of previous but outwith that time the surface will begin to cure/harden and will need a quick sanding to prime it for another coat? If weather was warmer for second coat it maybe cured quicker than first. Or could be weather conditions - if there was a big drop in temp. overnight maybe that could be a factor? Hope it can be sorted. Duncan.
Hi Duncan. Well I'm not sure exactly what happened. The paint I got said once dried there was no overcoat interval, so it could be done even weeks after. Maybe the big change in temperatures at the time did something to the paint. I wish I knew
Hello, I got the first lot of paint. The Sigmadur 550 2 part paint from a company called New Guard Coatings. They were the cheapest. The second lot was Epifanes 2 part paint from Jackson Marine.
Thanks mate, the boat looks great. I’m preparing for paint at the moment myself a bit more prep to do so need to choose the paint next. Great videos btw fair play👍 I’m just down the coast from you in carlingford maybe see you around at some stage👍
@@Sailing_Aquarius She’s a cobra 750 25 foot boat so lovely for single handing. Lovely marina to pop in and grab a bite and great sailing in the lough too once you get and the lough opens up.
@@Sailing_Aquarius Sorry mate one last question, the Sigmadur seemed to be going well but did you figure out what might have gone wrong for the third coat by any chance? It says you can apply as many as you want to just wondered if you had an idea. Cheers

Hey - got mine on the hard now.. so back to these vids for reference! What was the filler you used? Cheers
Hi Barry. I used west systems fast hardener mostly 404 compound for most of my filler needs
@@Sailing_Aquarius Thanks again mate. Plenty scuffs came with mine over the last 30 years.. can't imagine why 😅
Aaaaa man I feel for ya. Did you sand between coats ???
No we didnt. The manufacture said we didnt need to. So we just cleaned the sirface and reapplied the additiinal coates.
Where did you buy the paint mate, is a two-part ?
