- Porlock Village can be found between the rolling hills of Exmoor and the coastline, this is a charming village with colourful cottages, shops and galleries, independent pubs and tea rooms.
Exmoor is loosely defined as an area of hilly open moorland in west Somerset and north Devon in South West England.
On our way back from Exmoor, we saw a small National Trust sign for Selworthy, which is a small village and civil parish 3 miles from Minehead in Somerset, England. It is located in the National Trust's Holnicote Estate on the northern fringes of Exmoor. This was another beautiful gem!
Wells is a cathedral city and civil parish in Somerset, located on the southern edge of the Mendip Hills. We visited on market day and it was thriving. We decided not to tour the cathedral, due to cost and because we had recently been to the Taunton Minster. The city itself is interesting.
Shepton Mallet Prison, often referred to as Cornhill or The Mallet, housed its first inmates in 1625. The prison was finally decommissioned on 28th March 2013. The Kray Twins, London Gangsters, were held in here in the early 1950s.
Burnham-on-Sea is a seaside town in Somerset, England, at the mouth of the River Parrett, on Bridgwater Bay. Burnham was a small fishing village until the late 18th century when it began to grow because of its popularity as a seaside resort.
The village of Brean is on a strip of land between the sea and the River Axe. It is the home of Brean Leisure Park, a tropical bird garden, other tourist attractions and several caravan parks.

Chris makes me 😂. I'm glad Burnham redeemed itself. We have been before and enjoyed it. 😊
We did enjoy it in the end 😂 and the sunshine probably helped. Thank you for always commenting and watching ❤

Thank you, as always for watching and I'm glad we could show you something new. We should have started with North Somerset and moved South, as the views in the South just got better and better. We did it backwards 😂. Have a great day! 💕🫶❤️

Hi Clare! I think we should have done Burnham before we discovered all the nice beaches 😂. They were just a bit soulless. I know it's good for families with small children but just doesn't have a natural vibe like the other places. And yes, we know places need money to survive, but there is a limit 😂. We did go to Cheddar which will be on next week's video. It was ridiculously amazing! It was my first time there. But we didn't go into the cave, again not worth the price or the pain of walking in what is a rocky, undeveloped place 😂 and probably no benches inside 😂😂. Really appreciate all your support. It does mean a lot! We're back in the Midlands 🥱 now and really missing both Shropshire and Somerset. Our top places so far. Have a good week and we love hearing from you and your opinions 💕 😁 xx
I just had a quick look online at the prison. It has been used since the 1600's, and during the second world war, the US used it as a military prison, and if the online source is correct, two US service men were shot there (executed). Great vid guy's. 😁
Wow. Isn't British history fascinating! I think the Kray twins were there for a brief period of time, too. The outer walls were extremely thick. No one could break through those walls. Thank you for the extra information. I didn't know about the US service men either. We are missing being there now, as we're back in the Midlands now. So we are trying to find interesting places here, in between having our vehicles serviced 😂 and catching up with friends and family. Thank you so very much Gareth! We always love hearing from you! Have a good week ♥️✌️
Western Super Mud has to be worse, then I saw the the static caravans. Pontins ranks up there with Butlitz for me LOL
😂 Pontins looked like a locked day prison, but a shame it has effected local businesses as the workmen have more sense than to spend their time in arcades 😂 so don't spend their money in town. Thank you so much for always watching and commenting!! ❤️❤️
