That's where my fiancee and I fell in love, not long after the date on the video. Sadly she passed away recently so those memories are very special to me.
@@donnaneeley9920 thank you - it's not a deep loss because she was very clumsy due to a neurological impairment and I had snatched her from the jaws of death many times previously. she soldiered on without seeming to be affected by symptoms that would have finished an average person off months beforehand. I was forming the belief that she would go on for ever - but she would not have wanted to go on if anything became of me so it's a relief that she went first. I also get the sense that she chose the day of her passing because it was to be our (unofficial) wedding day. she seemed so peaceful that I have virtually no grief at all, just a sense of wonder that such a person could ever have existed and how lucky we all are to have witnessed and been a part of her life. God bless you. God bless all of you.
My family owned 2 hotels for over a hundred years there up until the 60's right near the grand haven't been there since 1969 pretty far from Canada but always in my heart and I listen to scarborough fair when feeling nostalgic
I love Scarborough, my favourite place in the UK and I'm glad to say iv moved to Scarborough beginning of this year. Keep up the good work on the video. Much love and respect 🙏
When visiting Scarborough, you really must try the food at The Lookout On The Pier. The building doesn't look too promising from outside, but the food, the service and the view from the dining room are awesome.
Best place in the world. I highly recommend moving here if you are young. There are lots of opportunities, everything you need and it’s easy to get on the housing ladder, beautiful period architecture and views.
Can’t believe I missed this one. I am visiting Yorkshire next Sunday until Friday on a business trip but thought a visit to Scarborough would be a suitable end of week tour! Weather Permitting it’s October 2023! We have had a sunny autumn so far with some storms to make the point; summer is over.
Have stayed in Scarborough twice on visits from Australia. Both visits were in winter. One visit was in the snow. The other visit the sea was so blustery that sea foam was flying through the air. We loved it both those times. Thank you for the beautiful images which show us it is a lovely place at all times of the year and in all weathers. Wish we could be back there.....maybe one day!

it’s been nine years since i visited scarborough today, so i had to see if there was any nice videos to get a bit nostalgic, so i’m so happy and grateful for this, thank you!
As much as i love and enjoy the lives, the prerecords are truly amazing in both the quality of footage and professionalism of editing, i really don't think that there is a tourist department in the country that could do a better job of showing us both the attractions and the beauty of British towns
I do like Scarborough. There is so much to see of it's original buildings, now serving other purposes if you know what to look for. Some grand places to eat too. The place does remind me a bit of Miss Havisham from Great Expectations; still showing it's past glory.
Thank You Tim for a fabulous video. I live in Spain but I used to go to Scarborough every weekend in summer with my Parents. Your video brings back so many happy memories xx
Next time you're in Scarborough, check out Mother Hubbard's on Westborough (the main drag). Really good fish and chips, decent price. The Ferris wheel you mentioned stands on the site of the former Futurist Theatre. At the time of its closure in 2013, it was the largest single screen cinema in the UK and had hosted famous acts such as the Beatles and Shirley Bassey. Unfortunately, attempts to get the building listed failed and the council voted to demolish the Futurist in 2017, despite fierce opposition from locals and heritage organisations. The Futurist was demolished in 2018. Flamingoland Group was given 'preferred bidder status' for the vacant site and plans were drawn up for an entirely new attraction that would have included a 60m-high “Cliffhanger” ride, a rollercoaster, and a four-storey building housing restaurants and play areas. Despite this, nothing happened for the next two years, and in January 2020 the group's CEO announced that they were withdrawing from the project, citing the city council's lack of interest and vision. The Ferris wheel was installed in summer 2019 as a temporary seasonal attraction, but due to Flamingoland Group's withdrawal and the pandemic, it is still present and will probably remain for some time yet.
SUCH A BEATIFUL PLACE ! 😀 Really lovely I haven't seen before to be honest England has amazing places to go and enjoy, Will be my next destination trip! Thanks for this video ,take care !😄✋️
Scarborough has always been my place to visit from childhood holidays to holidays now. In fact we go next week ! Nice walk through showing some nice parts of sunny Scarborough. Thank you.
Maybe I'm just old but, many people will remember the North Bay open air pool but I also remember the South Bay version with the huge diving boards... Last time I was there it was a bloody big lawn. I used to love the Helter skelter near the harbour... Open air theatre was Northstead Manor Gardens (I think)... Peasholm Naval Battle... The train to Scalby.. Blands Cliff, ugh!!!... The Clifton Hotel... The Golden Ball... Trafalgar Square B&B called Aartswood overlooking the cricket ground, The Spa Bar...The Green Lizard Cafe/Restaurant...Irvine's Carvery... So much. I bloody loved
Shame that the futurist theatre has gone but, I also remember the floral hall... Saw Dickie Valentine there once. The Corner Café has also been replaced... Sorry, I get quite nostalgic about this great old town By the way, The Angel on North Street, hopefully, was, still is a great Pub... The two Ridings ain't bad either.(Two separate boozers), one on Castle Road and the other quite close to The Clifton Hotel. More comments to follow ( When I remember um) lololol
Went every year with cousins in the 70s there were 13 of us staying in St Mary's house below the church still go most years now for a long weekend happy days and memories.

Hi Tim My family and I have just returned home from a holiday in Scarborough. We stayed at The Sands in the North Bay area. To see your video was just like being there for another day. It was beautiful. Yoy are so right...the views are soectacular and Scarborough has something for all ages. Thank you so much for putting this video together.

spent many happy childhood holidays in Scarborough, still love it and try to visit when i can, loved going up and down the tramway and Peasholm Park for the battles, the castle was always fun and used to enjoy the fair rides on the beach of the south bay. Also saw lots of famous stars at the Futurist theatre which is no longer there. Scarborough has a special place in my heart.

For me, best chippy in Scarborough by a country mile is the Lifeboat Chippy at the bottom of Eastborough, just round the corner from the Harbour Bar, great video by the way, I've been visiting Scarborough for over 30 years and absolutely love it...
.Been going to Scarborough since the age of five for day trips, short breaks and for the Cricket Festival. Got to see my first summer season variety show at the Futurist Theatre which is now the site of the big wheel. The little collector shops under the market are nice to have a look a round. Scarborough did have a Pier back in the 1800's but got destroyed by the North Sea, it was on the North Bay. Remember the Zoo and Fun Fair that was behind the Open Air Theatre back in the 1970's. The gardens and walk way in Peasholm Park are nice to visit and I have stayed at the Grand Hotel when it was a Butlins Hotel, before it went down hill. Best area for cheap accommodation stay on the North Bay side near the cricket ground. Always try to visit Scarborough two or three times a year. Thank you and if you need any information on Scarborough back in the 1970's and 1980's I may be able to help answer them for you.
I must confess that Scarborough was better a few years ago (in my opinion), the reason being mostly the North Bay area, which had the Atlantis Outdoor Pool (which my kids loved), plus the Fair, both of which are closed. I last visited back in 2017, and it seemed to be a bit run down. Hopefully things will pick up as more people are holidaying here in the UK which I hope will be a good thing for our resorts. Things look a bit better on this video though, and hopefully we'll visit Scarborough again soon! Thank You Tim (and I still love Scarborough) !!!
I agree John. We visited Scarborough for many years and always stayed in the North within close proximity to Peasholm Park. Having visited recently for a few years I always found my mind wandering to when the outdoor pool was in action. I also believe Peasholm Park is no longer as tidy esp the pitch and putt which I loved as a kid.
I love Scarborough, its only an hour and half drive from where I live... Handy for day trip or a short stay. Whitby is only an hours drive. 2 brilliant seaside towns on our door steps, along with Redcar. 😀
@@WalkWithMeTim The Victoria Seaview Hotel on the North Bay is a nice place to stay... We had a sea view, a lovely view to wake up to on a morning. That was our last break in 2019 before covid struck!!
Hi Tim I've just subscribed to you, has I thought it was really interesting and I love the way you explain things. We use to live in Scarborough for 7 years we had a guest house, that big wheel wasn't there when we live there it's looks all new there to. It's nice to see it x

WOW thanks for the info Michael
Such a well shot video of beautiful Scarborough, cheers 👍😊
means a lot thanks for watching
I love Scarborough, my Geordie grand parents had their honeymoon there way back in the 30s
Great video Tim. Scarborough looks like a real nice place. I love the train, it would be worth going there just to see that that.
Yes it's unique
Love your video, great job Tim! ❤️👏
Thanks so much! Karolina, please remember to subscribe
Wow 😮 best video upload 🤳 about Scarborough 🏖
wow! thats a comment!
I love this place so much
fantastic video tim again
Thanks mandy for watching
very pretty city
agree
Those seaguls sounds realy crazy at night
I must confess that Scarborough was better a few years ago (in my opinion), the reason being mostly the North Bay area, which had the Atlantis Outdoor Pool (which my kids loved), plus the Fair, both of which are closed.
I last visited back in 2017, and it seemed to be a bit run down. Hopefully things will pick up as more people are holidaying here in the UK which I hope will be a good thing for our resorts.
Things look a bit better on this video though, and hopefully we'll visit Scarborough again soon! Thank You Tim (and I still love Scarborough) !!!
Yes I thought that but always look better in the summer .. thanks for watching John
Us locals miss a lot of that from years gone.. The water park, marvels, kinderland etc - lots of good memories from the north bay ❤️
Thanks for the video. I’m reading the Benjamin Myers’ book Rare Singles which is set in Scarborough so great context for that.
I love Scarborough, its only an hour and half drive from where I live... Handy for day trip or a short stay. Whitby is only an hours drive. 2 brilliant seaside towns on our door steps, along with Redcar. 😀
I was very lucky with the weather but wanted to show how nice it is in the summer
@@WalkWithMeTim The Victoria Seaview Hotel on the North Bay is a nice place to stay... We had a sea view, a lovely view to wake up to on a morning. That was our last break in 2019 before covid struck!!
good tip
I can hardly wait to go there soon
Excellent video I have been to Scarborough just once for two days, I should have stayed longer thank you from N.Z.
Thanks Terry
Brilliant, we go two or three times every year.👌
:-) thanks for watching Richard

Hi Tim I've just subscribed to you, has I thought it was really interesting and I love the way you explain things. We use to live in Scarborough for 7 years we had a guest house, that big wheel wasn't there when we live there it's looks all new there to. It's nice to see it x
