Thank you for this video! Buying a new 36” Blackstone and going to do the conversion before I even turn it on. The fittings to your house is like mine and that helps a lot to know what you used. Hopefully I’ll get the right combo and get her connected in no time!
Just received my black stone griddle, I’m excited to get it connected. This video really help with the setting up the gas conversion kit. Thank you for the video.
Do you smell natural gas? And how did you adjust your air fryer? My orifice for the air fryer was a .75 not a 1.0. But I think I've got a gas leak. I'm in a wheelchair so I'm waiting on someone to come out and check the connections.
That tool not being too deep is nice, my 3d printer nozzle swaps could learn a thing or two. Especially when you consider we have to change those nozzles at or close to running temp for proper fit.
Doing God's work out here, thank you! I really want the air fryer version, but Blackstone doesn't want to sell a conversion kit for it. I saw your other video about temperature comparisons, but wasn't sure how much heat loss the conversion brings.
This video was great. Thanks. For the orifice valve attached to the air fryer… you used the side burner orifice. Why did you use that instead of another full size 2mm one used under the cooktop? Would there be issues using the larger opening?
Thanks for the super informative video! What did you you use to connect the 3/8” quick connect to the gas fixture on your house? I couldn’t understand that last part with the nipple 😅 it looks like I’m going to need one too
My pipe coming out of my house was 3/4”. I needed a brass reducer and then a 1/2” nipple to then connect the quick connect. amzn.to/3SpXLVB amzn.to/3dW6GPN Should be the parts I needed.
Can you tell me the size of the original nozzles and hole sizes for the what you took out. I am buying a griddle with fryer that has been converted to Nat Gas and I need the standard propane nozzles. Thanks, Randy
It has been great. The airfryers take a bit longer to heat up, but I just start them up 5 minutes extra to make sure they are up to temp. I honestly don't use them a ton anyway because I have an airfryer in the house, but I do use them and the warming drawer if I am making a ton of burgers. Overall, so happy I did the conversion.
I change my griddle to natural gas and when I have the griddle knobs off there is gas coming thru the burner. Any idea if that has to do with a regulator ?
I have the new Blackstone 1923 patio with airfryer. There is no way to access the back of the pipe fitting for airfryer. I can unscrew the hose going to it but the back nut is underneath and behind things. I have storage under it and there is a piece of metal between that and the airfryer and it does not come out. Are their any work arounds. I installed all the top offices already. Pretty pissed. Thanks!
@@BryanHansen yea there is no way to get to back of it where it connects on other side. Without taking the entire grill apart into a million pieces. They def did it purposefully. Do you think I can still run airfryer safely? It will just take longer to heat up
Update: new Blackstone 1923 patio edition with airfryer combo and storage. I got to the airfryer by flipping the grill over taking out like 8 screws and pulling off the storage part to access the airfryer hose connection to replace the orifice. I notice the top grills flame is significantly higher flame. I’m guessing this is normal because of the bigger orifice? Thanks again.
I have been wanting this model for a while and reached out to Blackstone directly before finding this video. They told me - “The air fryer units can not be converted to natural gas. This is something we have tested and found to be potentially dangerous.” Which I find hard to believe, but want to see if anyone has experienced anything like this once they did the conversion?
I called Blackstone when I got mine, because I wanted to do the conversion, as well. They specifically said that the air fryers won't get hot enough. That's why the conversion isn't technically offered for this unit. :/
@@PhilBuckman They didn’t say that it wasn’t available they said it may not get hot enough in your situation. At least that’s what I said in my manual anyway. I think a lot of that will depend on the elevation of where you’re at. If you change the orifice to a larger sized orifice it should put out enough heat
@@BryanHansen Will you comment back here when you test it out, please? I'm definitely interested in making it work, if possible. I also want to figure out a way to "build in" the unit to an outdoor kitchen we're putting in. Just have to figure out how to keep the sides open for heat dispersion. Let me know if you have any insight on that. Thanks!
The hose in the description under the link should have the exact size on it. Look in the description section of the video and I’ve got a link directly to the part
So to be completely transparent I used it once since doing that. I think it took a little longer to heat up, but was fine to use. The other thought that I had is if it’s not getting hot enough to file out the orifice a little bit wider with a torch tip cleaner and it would definitely be hot enough then
@@Dan-uc8ci That is exactly what I would do if it didn’t produce enough heat. Last weekend I uploaded another video where I checked the temperature readings and they were pretty good. I’m going to try and use it one or two more times and if it performs good enough I’m not going to switch it up

Very helpful! Specifically for the air fryer conversion, thank you
That was a TERRIFIC video. Super helpful. Much appreciated!
Great video! Thanks! What was the exact size of the jet for the airfyer??? It's the only jet I need to complete my conversion. Much appreciated!
I used the full 2mm opening. Waiting to hear what he says too.
@@jfidler How did the 2mm in the air-fryer burner work for you?

Going off of memory, that was what fit
Blackstone says this can't be done. I didn't see why not. Like you said rather it take longer than run out of tank.

I think I am in the same boat. Going to try and buy these and see if that will work
Thanks for the detail video. I also have the same kit and want to set this up. Do you recommend a gas regulator ?
Not unless you’re running high pressure on your house. Nobody usually is though

No, it shouldn’t. Your house should be regulated to .5 or 2 psi. May want to check the gas pressure on your house.

Is there a specific reason you used the reducer 1/2 male to 3/8 female and then the male to male? Couldnt you just use a 1/2 male to 3/8 male?
Could’ve. If I remember correctly, this was during Covid and I had to work with the pieces that I had.
