A special girl who's written hundreds of notes to others is surprised in front of the entire school

EastIdahoNews.com and Ashley Furniture HomeStore in Idaho Falls and Pocatello are partnering to honor people in our community for Feel Good Friday. Every week, we surprise someone deserving of special recognition.
We recently received an email from Emmie and Abbie, twin teenage girls living in Rexburg. It said:
Sage is a 15-year-old girl that has been diagnosed with autism. She went to school with us last year and we met in a PE class. We immediately became friends. We ate lunch together every day. This school year was kind of hard when she found out that she was going to the high school and we wouldn't be able to eat lunch together. Despite this, she has never failed to leave a gift for the holidays or invite me and my sister to her house for a dance party. She is such an amazing girl and means the world. Whenever you see her you can't help but smile. Over the summer and during the school year she would bring a gallon size bag full of notes, songs and bracelets to tell how much she loved you. She deserves so much more than we could ever give her. We hope you can help us out with a special surprise.
We decided to thank Sage for her acts of kindness and interrupted a Madison High School assembly to surprise her. Watch the video above to see the special moment!

People forget how lovely it is to get letter cards and notes. What a lovely bunch of young girls. Hopefully they will remain friends for a lifetime!
In high school I became friends with the vice principle’s niece. She was in Canada for surgeries to her leg.. when she was 9 yrs old her “friend” pushed her in front of an on coming car as a joke! Messed up her leg something awful. During the time we were in school together she and I wrote notes to each other. To this day I still have a handful of them. I kept some of the ones she folded origami style. She went back to her country of Antigua, though later returned to Canada after finishing high school. By then though I had already graduated and been in college and was in university. (I was a few years older but about 3 grades ahead as she’d lost a yr in school due to the initial injury). We reunited years later and still keep in touch today. And I graduated high school in 1993 to give you some idea of how long it’s been!
It is said that it's easy to meet a friend but difficult to maintain a friendship, you proved them wrong.Beautiful story, with love from Trinidad and Tobago.
As a Mom of someone with Autism, made me cry with joy. Saige, you are amazing.

Not only are the 3 featured ladies very kind and sweet, but the whole school looks like they are all smiles and happy for her. Looks like a great school with awesome students.

Every one of these young ladies are going to do GREAT things in life. And I didn't hear a single heckle from anyone in attendance. And by the sounds of that applause, that's a classy school
I have a feeling that if anyone did heckle, they wouldnt be making it out of there in the same health they arrived with. ;)
What totally awesome twin sisters to have nominated this pretty and generous young lady! I'm sure their parents must be awfully proud of the girls they have raised! And love the whole gym's faces lighting up, smiling, and taking videos of this... how awesome!!

Very, very cool. Abby and Emmy, it is so great that you recognized Saige's kindness and friendship now, rather than years from now, wishing you had. Time flys by so fast and the best of intentions are often times put off until it's too late. All three of you are amazing and I wish you all the best.

A lot of people who have a disability get forgotten and lost in the human system especially students who make a difference in the world and I thank you for shining a light on her. I'm also disabled and I live in another state but I watch feel good Friday and secret Santa thank you for all you do

Awesome indeed!!!! I was liming with friends and I told them, that whenever I felt down, I would watch Nate's Feel Good Friday and Secret Santa giveaway videos (admittedly over and over again). To my surprise, most of my friends all the way over here in Barbados looked at me, laughed, and said, "so do we"!!!!
I appreciate the fact where is that who knows and Nate take the time to acknowledge the good youth in our communities often times we only hear about the negative with youth and it’s such a refreshing aspect to show the positive in what youth can and are willing to do thank you

My niece is autistic and one of the most wonderful loving people I know. She is a really special young lady and being around her is a joy.
She is a fantastic cook and a good housekeeper. She may be technically disabled but she makes up with it with love and her infectious positive attitude.
East Idaho News does a great job bringing these things to lite.

I grew up with Aspergers (a form of Autism) but i didnt know it until i was well into my adult years. I am SO happy to see that Autism and its many forms are being more recognized both in the mental health field (earlier diagnosis) as well as society's greater acceptance of Autism challenges. I wish i had known growing up, it would have made life easier, but i know now and its helping me finally be ME!
This girl is SOO lucky to have such good friends, and it will guide her with more positivity as she grows and matures into her adult years.

As someone who every couple years goes through old drawings and notes and stuff from my school days to get a nice rush of nostalgic childhood memories, I'm super jealous of the 212 notes. Lots of love and lots of friendship. That's what it's all about.
