EastIdahoNews.com and Ashley Furniture HomeStore in Idaho Falls and Pocatello are partnering to honor people in our community for Feel Good Friday. Every week, we surprise someone deserving of special recognition.
This week we received an email about Jill’s Chicken Shack, a family-owned restaurant in Iona. The message said:
I reached out via Facebook messenger yesterday asking Jill’s Chicken Shack if their chicken noodle soup was homemade. I explained that I was really sick and needed some homemade chicken noodle soup. When I found out it was homemade, I told them I would send for some the next day.
I was not able to send for any soup and at about 6:30ish they reached out to me to say they had some soup left and asked if I was still wanting some. I explained to them that I was not able to find anyone who could come and get us soup and since my husband had just had surgery (cancer sucks) he would not be able to come either. I thanked them for reaching out and left it at that.
About 20 minutes passed when they asked for my address and said their son would be delivering us both some soup at no charge. I thanked them and asked them to let me Venmo them the money and gave them my address. Their son came and delivered the soup and would not allow my husband to pay him or even tip him.
Who does this kind of stuff, oh that’s right Jill’s Chicken Shack does…amazing service. I am still in shock that a little mom and pop shop would take the time to do this for my husband and I.

We decided to thank Jill, her husband and their family for showing kindness in our community. Check out the Feel Good Friday surprise in the video player above! - Развлечения
Bless their hearts. This is why we need to support private businesses. They are the backbone of our country. 🇺🇸
Most definitely.
PLEASE support private businesses. The Socialists are trying to wipe them out.
Yes I agree! They are awesome!
I hope this boosts their business big time.
Only the mom and pops care enough for neighbors❤️ thank you
Hope you get loads of customers ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
What a great heart-warming story! Homemade chicken 'n noodle soup is a such a comfort for the body and soul. What a nice work ethic from this family business. Thank you to EIN, Ashley Stores, and this business.
It is the go-to soup when not feeling well - absolutely!
“We want to love the community as much as they love us’
You can see they are good people right off the bat... world needs more like this... wonderful thing to do, maybe a small thing in some terms, but meant so much to the family they helped. Well done Nate and Team for continuing to recognise good people like this and share heart warming stories.
So true John. its really sad the direction mankind is going
What a heartwarming story and giving recognition to those caring people.
Even though I don't know these folks personally, I can tell they are wonderful parents. Not only did they set a great example with their generosity, they also gave responsibilities to their children. By working in the restaurant, their kids get to witness how much hard work it takes to become a successful business. They also learn how to interact with customers in a professional manner, even when customers are difficult. I wish them the best of luck with their new restaurant. I hope the community comes out and support them. The foods they serve look delicious!
Texas!
Blessings to Jill’s Chicken Shack!
I like to say "if everybody gave what they could, everyone would have what they needed". Be well from Washington state ❤
Wishing this young couple and their family much success with their mom-and-pop business! I always love those kind of shops. Raising their kids right too!
And, as always, love to see my Nate!
I wish I could swing by Jills to patronize their restaurant, but it's a little too far from Florida.
Good job by the owners.
I love homemade chicken noodle soup!!! Kudos to Jill's Chicken shack!!
Another great story. I hope Jill's Chicken does great business and keeps up their big standards... love from Pickering, Ontario!
God Bless the two of you & your entire family! I grew up in a small community in NE. My Dad had a 24/7 restaurant & know the commitment to community. Thank you for paying it forward & may your business & lives thrive.
You will be recognized from around the world, what a heartwarming story. Best of luck from a Texas gal
I know all ain’t always good and dandy in life but this is the kind of news stories I’m glad is making news. Thank you East Idaho News for always sharing these wonderful people and their stories with us all ❤️.
Yes, keep supporting are mom&pop stores!
Really, there is nothing like homemade chicken noodle soup when you are sick. Thanks to these people for taking it to the woman.
I will be stopping in Iona at the chicken shack. What examples
I have a small plaque I bought years ago that says it all: there are no great things done, only small things done with great love, attributed to Mother Theresa. EIN you rock it out and I believe God himself will tell this family” well done good and faithful servants” when you all get to heaven. God bless you all.🤗🙏❤️
May there business be blessed abundantly! Thank you Jills Chicken Shack for kindness!
WONDERFUL! This is what small family businesses are all about.
Another FGF leaving me with happy tears. Wish I lived nearby. I would definitely go have lunch at Jill’s and buy some more soup to take to that woman and her husband. Wishing Jill’s much success. The restaurant business is hard. Wonderful that they started it up during these especially challenging times, and helping the kids learn in the process. Great job!!!
a good deed always leads to another good deed. don’t expect it but your time will come sooner than you think. thank you nate for another great feel good friday epusode.
Wholesome, beautiful, gracious and unpretentious these kind loving people are! God bless them.
Awesome people , everybody in town support these fine people .
That was so kind and thoughtful. God Bless them.
I am glad that did this for the couple and gave them some soup. Prayers for the couple and prayers for business. For their outstanding service.
I never get tired of this... We need more of East Idaho people EVERYWHERE!!!!!! Nate you are soooooo lucky you have the best job......
Love you secret Santa, Nate and those who behind the concept 🎅 and lots of Love from India 🇮🇳
I love this story!! Just goes to show, you don't have to make a grand gesture to make a big difference in another person's life. Just a bowl of homemade soup told this couple they aren't alone, someone is thinking about them and cares. What a wonderful local business to have in a community. THIS is how businesses should be, and why I love local businesses so darned much, they are invested in and a part of the community. WONDERFUL!!
We need more people and small businesses like this.. there's a massive shortage. 🙂
There was but unfortunately covid wiped out many small good local businesses. I was reading an article and it stated " over 60% of small businesses will not reopen or recover from the covid lockdowns" That's such a shame isn't it. I hope more is done by everyone to keep these mom and pop shops open :-)
Thank you Nate for bringing goodness into the world....I love hearing about these stories.
Once AGAIN 😎 my day has been made!! I LOVE these guys; I LOVE East Idaho News ‘n partners Ashley Furniture and…well…it’s gonna be A GREAT DAY!!!! 💕 Thank you!
It is the smaller businesses that usually go out of their way as they are a real part of the community.
It’s what makes a community....❤️
A RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS GOES A LONG WAY.
Omg, I am craving some real homemade chicken noodle soup right now! Like my Mom used to make. Best of luck to you in your new business.
these are the sweetest people. I called n asked if I could pay for some soup so they could donate it n they asked me to "pay it forward" in my own community instead. the real deal. thats what they are. these people are gonna raise the BEST kind of kids. the BEST kind of kids. I thank them. n I promise them I will "pay it forward" here at home as well. BE WELL. and thank you.
Thank you for letting us be apart of the Kind hearts of Idaho. Love from Virginia
I wish I could travel from Sweden the US just to visit small food shops like this, but just watching it makes you feel good. :)
Wonderful people. God bless you, your family, and your business always. And God bless the family that received the soup as well. ❤

Feeding the body and soul
Wow, what beautiful human beings. I wish them nothing but prosperity with their new business
I don't know why, but this story in particular touched me so much. To call and check on a stranger because you know they're ill? Then bring them free soup, with zero provocation? This is how we should all treat our fellow humans.
What a wonderful example they are setting!
A delightful segment! They are awesome people!
Yay!!! Feel good Friday!
Good people!
What a wonderful couple.

What a wonderful family, I hope their restaurant is a great success. I'm sure that sick woman loved their soup and it made her feel better in the heart if not in body.
What an amazing family, love it!
Bless Them!
Folks, every one of us can pay it forward. We can all do nice things for others. We don't need to live in Idaho, we can take care of our neighbors in our home town. The opportunities are endless to do something nice for someone. Hold open a door for someone. Smile at people. Pay for someone's groceries. Help with some yard work. I love watching Feel Good Friday and Secret Santa because of the positive messages and my dose of humanity. The good deeds shouldn't stop with these videos, they should be our starting point. Blessings to everyone who watches EIN.
Nate, I love your segments. Makes me want to live in East Idaho!
