A Feel Good Friday surprise for a couple who has helped feed hundreds over the years

EastIdahoNews.com and Ashley Furniture HomeStore in Idaho Falls and Pocatello are partnering to honor people in our community for Feel Good Friday. Every week, we surprise someone deserving of special recognition.
Ken and Oly Syverson have been running the Meals on Wheels program in Ririe for nearly ten years. They don't get paid and help coordinate with over 20 volunteers to make sure senior citizens and shut-ins have meals every day of the week.
Recipients receive homemade meals twice a week and freezer meals on the other days. Oly has made the meals herself and makes sure everyone gets a hot roll with each delivery.
The Syversons also hold a lunch every Friday at the Ririe Community and Senior Center. Anyone is welcome to come and enjoy a meal with others and those in need can take home food.
We decided to surprise the Syversons and thank them for all they've done for our community. Watch the surprise in the video player above!

On top of the meals, they will have contact with another human being on Tuesdays and Fridays and that's extra special. What a great way to serve the community!

My mom was a shut in for several years. I took her meals, but once we got Meals on Wheels is was a game changer. She had a different delivery person each weekday. The extra social interaction was amazing!
Feeding others is such a basic human kindness. These people are angels.
My mom received meals on wheels locally. And my sister had a stroke, lived alone. Received meals on wheels where she lived. Grateful fir the loyal service to your community!

I live in Dublin Ireland and have helped out with meals on wheels here in my locality . Sometimes we are the only person an older person sees in the day . Keep up the good work Ken and Olie.

Gosh, wouldn’t you love to meet this couple…be friends, have them as your neighbor?!? What a great couple and hats off to them for acknowledging that it’s a team effort of 26 other volunteers that make this happen week in and week out. Quite an organization of dedicated people. LOVED him saying that he would be fine if they doubled his 0 salary. Lol. Good one!

Play the God's blessing God's angels and the love that goes along with it with all the blessings and the dreams that come true to homeless and all who have a heart of gold God bless all those who are involved as the angels of God does the word each and every day that brings so much for the homeless and the love and tender TLC loving care as always I hope that each and every day one day that these homeless will be back up on their feet clean them haircut brand new clothes to go to work and to be trained to the fullest extent it would be the best blessing for all homeowners who are in need of jobs if someone would only take the time to help socialize him back in to society no one has patience time anymore and I'm very disappointed in the state of Oregon and all 50 states to pick these people up and make them human again we can do this if we work together as a team of people instead all week done let them in this food to be abused and injured stop the abused and Napoleon and stop the selfishness so respect for those who need your help better reaching out and crying for your help it's only people would take the time to open their hearts I take them before and feel good about their self for helping someone who severely needs everybody's home I know we have a lot of homeless but lately everybody's getting part of doing it I was hoping that you know what since doc's not here who picked up the homeless years ago he put them in the jobs cut their hair clean them up open his heart opens home and help the homeless instead today everybody's got ingredients of centers and deceitful towards them spending over a hundred million dollars that was meant to get the homeless off the street what can we do to make the difference to raise up the money and the donations to replace what was stolen from the homeless that needed to bring them up on their feet we need to stop being selfish and work together and show responsibility to getting these folks out of the streets they have nowhere to go nowhere to turn no one to talk to except social workers and social workers ain't even trying to get them out of the streets except though more buildings and wasting the money that belongs for the homeless could have taken the time to put them into high-rise buildings for low-cost house living instead the wasted more money putting them into expensive Apartments low cost housing could be a big help to all of us that are homeless right now. Could be the biggest help in history by getting them off the streets out of the road so that they're not freezing to death and dying in the streets this is neglect and abused by our own government yes land security done nothing but leaving him in the streets to die until they pick up their butts but land security has also gave them checks instead of holding back to text until they know that they get off their butts and go find a place to live could change the whole indication and make them think about what they need to do in life this is what they did years ago when I was in a homeless situation with my kids they held the checks to a certain point I also had money to be able to live on but I also had done the whole money because it was important to make sure you have your deposit and your apartment rent amount so if you get this message I think that land security at DHS needs to start over from scratch and learn the value of reality not giving them the checks to do what they want with until they find a place to live
They only got movie tickets and restaurant cards.
I wish they had gotten money and a full truck delivery of food for them to cook.
Our Meals on Wheels is finaned by our county..several paid staff...funded by a levy approved by voters
