    In case anyone is curious why it dies after a certain amount of health, it's actually not a bug per se. The largest number a 32-bit integer can hold is 2,147,483,647. If a calculation increases it past that, it overflows and _wraps_ becoming negative. So trying to double the 1.6 billion health Lorewalker essentially caused it to have negative health, killing it instantly.

      2 billion and change is actually the largest number a signed 32 bit variable can hold. Unsigned is 4 billion (which is why 32 bit OS can only address 4GB of RAM without doing some funky stuff)

    • @jasonschuler2256
      @jasonschuler2256 8 лет назад

      +MediPL I didn't think it was necessary to get into the distinction between signed and unsigned ints. That would just confuse people and they still get the gist of, "the int overflows" without mentioning it.

      Used the Shadowcaster Blade of C'thun strategy to make me some 150+ attack C'thun and multiplied them with brann and gang up. Ended up with 7 C'thun.

      +Ian Hall Freeze mages are hard to attack since they, well, freeze you. But mages also have minimal heals and armor. So yeah, if you have actually deal 1b damage to a freeze mage, you've won. I get the 'joke' you tried to make, it just makes little sense to the point of being absurdist, which probably wasn't your aim when you were clearly trying to go the observational route with your 'comedy' (i.e. pop culture videogame references).

    The reason you cant go over 2 billion damage is because of how the code was written. Generally you have data types, like double, int, bool, unsigned int, signed int, etc..... and if the attack value was most likely coded as an int, which stores values from -2,147,483,648 to 2,147,483,647. (2 billion) Anything over exceeds the number of bits allocated to that data type so the devs put in a failsafe so anything over 2 billion would roll back to 0 as to not cause an error. (at least in c++ which is what i assume hearth is written in, since WoW engine was written in c++)

      Jacob Perepolkin The thing is, once you double something it automatically becomes even again anyway. And while he might have wanted to keep the lower digits as zeroes, that seems so pointless when he was going to a certain level anyway.

    If you buff a 2 hp minion 30 times, deal 1 dmg to it, then double it once more it'd be 2147483646. Then heal for 1, and it will be 2,147,483,647, which is the max possible without rolling over.
    should have done that research before attempting the feat.

    The maximum is 2^31 - 1 which is 2 147 483 647 because a number (integer in coding) is made up of 32 binary bits which can only be 0 or 1 and the first one just decides if its a positive or negative number.

  • @mablizza
    @mablizza 8 лет назад +3

    Healing was SUCH a waste of time SMH... here is why:
    1) the # 1000000000 looks pretty much the same as 1677721728 in the sense that you will count digits (regardless of value) to figure out if you are in the billions range since there are no thousands separators.
    2) Kripp effectively healed 1dmg which he then doubled 4 times (1*2^4= 16). he did this 6 times (16*4=64). he then healed and doubled twice (1*2^2=4) and finally healed and doubled once (1*2=2). so the total dmg he gained by wasting all that time was a whopping... *drum roll please* 102 dmg!!! "By my beard!" - Magni Bronzebeard. That's pretty insignificant when total dmg was over 1.6B
    3) still, a great video nonetheless kripp. good job. I felt proud when I hit the wall for 130dmg xD

  • @elukok
    @elukok 8 лет назад

    The health of the minions is probably stored in signed integer (2^32 with + and -). Most common code to store numbers is Two's complement. Two's complement lowest number is −(2N − 1) and highest number is (2N − 1)−1 where N is number of bits. There is -1 because 0 is coded as a positive number. So the theoretical maximum health of the minion should be (2^31)-1 which is 2147483647.

    In case someone whats to get to that maximum 2147483647=2^31-1 damage, here is how:
    0) Make sure Stormwind does not take damage, including fatigue.
    1) Play Cho with 4=2^2 life
    2) Make sure he does not get damaged (heal him if necessary), and buff him 28 times to 1073741824=2^30
    3) Hit him for 1 damage to 1073741823=2^30-1
    4) buff him one more time to 2147483646=2(2^30-1)=2^31-2
    5) Innerfire
    6) Hit Stormwind which starts with one damage 1+(2^31-2)=2^31-1=2147483647

    Apparently blizzard uses 32 bit signed integers. Signed integers have 1 sign bit (for negative numbers) and 31 data bits. 31 bits have 2^31 combinations which is 2147483648 or 2.147 billion. Normally the range of signed 32-bit integers is -2,147,483,648 to 2,147,483,647 with 0 being on the positive side.

    it doesn't bug out cause the numbers "roll over"
    the maximum number is 2147483647. that's how the programming of the game works. they used a signed integer which means that it can hold a maximum of 2^31-1.
    after that, we get an over flow. not a "roll over" the game isn't like "FUCK U I DON'T WANT NO MORE DIVINE SPIRIT" it just can't hold a bigger number.

      it actoully has to do with the maximum size of the integer used for cho, if the number gets bigger then the amount of bits reserved for the integer the buffer gets an overflow.

    oooh i believe it kills it because of bit overflow in terms of number storage. If it overflows the maximum number it goes negative. So when you double it over a certain number it will overflow to the negative.

  • @PattyManatty

    If you start at 15 you can get to 2013265920. And if you start at 31 you can get to 2080374784.
    In general the strategy is to start from a number which is 1 less than a power of 2. The higher the starting the closer you can get to 2^31(which is overflow) without going over.
    EDIT: The best strategy is actually to start at a power of 2(so the 4 of cho is perfect), then when you just get over 1 billion, you want to take 1 damage(or 2 or 5 or 10 or whatever. Just a little bit of damage) on the cho and then double it again. This gets you pretty much as close as possible.

    I am sick of G2A, they are reselling stolen or Humble Bundle keys and in the process are hurting indie developers.
    Because of this I will boycott every RUclipsr and Streamer who is sponsored by G2A, including Kripp. I encourage everyone who reads this to do this same. G2A is a horrible company and if you are so money greedy that you sacrifice your dignity for a sponsorship from G2A than frankly you don't deserve my views, thumbs up, subscription.

    A signed, 4-byte integer (in programming) can be as large as 2,147,483,647. Assuming Hearthstone uses this data type to store the attack and health of minions, adding any positive value to that would put it into negative values and probably cause the game to interpret it as "0" (or whatever value is used when interpreting negative values)

  • @uxsoft
    @uxsoft 8 лет назад

    The exact number is 2,147,483,647. Which also happens to be 2^31. Which also happens to be the size of s common signed int variable. How do i know? Fel magic.

  • @Secretweazle
    @Secretweazle 8 лет назад

    since the numbers are signed integers written in binary, the maximum dmg u can do is pumping it from a number in the binary system (1,2,4,8.......) to roughly 1 billion, then deal 1 dmg to it, and then double it, you should be 1 dmg below maximum then

    Any 7 health minion that never gets attacked gets you pretty close to 2 billion. Another option is 4 or 8 health minion buffed to 1 billion and then lose 1 health before last divine spirit.

  • @a5noble2

    The highest number should be 2^31 which is 2.14 billion. Its computer programming so it will always be a power of 2 for the max size of a number the array can hold, that or it will be 2^31-1 because they probably include the number 0.

    If you want to do something similar with less AI cheese try paladin with scaled nightmare and lots of divine shields. With divine shield and thousands of attack it will survive both lightbomb and enter the colosseum and you can keep it around until it has as much attack as you want.

    Krip my brother, his friend, and I did the same thing with the cho. We buffed our cho to a over 2bill and it destroyed it but luckily we had a faceless to copy his insane cho. we got our cho up to 500mill and attacked face (we thought it died at 1bill). It ended the game when we hit face just like yours did. We could have lived another turn too and got 1bill dmg. Anyways loved the video and hope to see more great stuff.
