I agree with Carriemarman below -- what a great episode! The tour of the booths in Knit City was wonderful as well as the clips of Toronto. I enjoyed it all very much. Thank you!
Thank you for taking us to KnitCT! What gorgeous yarns everywhere! The fiber you purchased will be fun to see in the future as you spin it and recall where you got it. I'm happy you got to see theatre productions and spend time with family. A wonderful vicarious journey for someone like me who's staying put. 😊
Oh my gosh!!! Nancy this was a fabulous episode. I loved how you took us along with you while visiting Toronto and all the coverage of the Knit City Festival!!! I so look forward to your podcasts!
Thank you for the Knit City tour!! Now that's my kind of shopping...when no one else is around! 🤭 So nice for you to be able to get a visit in with your brother and family...and take in the yarn shops...I mean sights from days gone by! I'm glad it was a successful and enjoyable trip all around!
Lovely podcast of ur trip snd show!!!!🎉🎉 Wow!!!what a fun time away!!! So nice to see people there and go to knitting shops too!!!! Really enjoyed it all !!nancy! Thanks !!wo much ! Elaine 🧦😄😍
Thank you Elaine...so glad you enjoyed the week away❣️ I loved putting this episode together and knowing that my memories are all stored here for me to look back on 🥰🤓
Thanks for hanging out with me Leanne❣️ Galt is a great store and I will definitely go back when I'm visiting family. Happy knitting and safe travels 💕
Excellent episode! Thoroughly enjoyed the walking tour around the fibre fest without crowds. It was amazing to see some of the yarns up close and personal... almost felt like I was there!! Well done you!! 😊
Lovely to see the knitting show footage, but also the views around Toronto. It brought back many lovely memories of our visit there, including watching the Blue Jay's play baseball on a scorchingy hot day a d have soft shell crab afterwards as part of our supper. I have put the Galt store on the list to visit as hoping to make a trip over next year to NB, Ottawa etc.
If you get to NB, Sheila, please let me know to make sure we can meet up 💕 Knits City is in Montreal next May as well, depending what time of year you're coming 🤓
How fun to follow you to Knit City Toronto!! I'm envious of all that gorgeous yarn to choose from. I'm afraid I would have purchased far more than you did!! I miss going to such fun festivals. (I appreciated how you took your time to go through each booth to show off their wares!) And, it was delightful to travel with you to your brother's place and to Galt. I am always so impressed with how clean and beautiful Canada is!!
I had a lovely week away with lots of yarn fumed. Next year for Knit City, I will go with a plan and not free wheel it because that obviously did not work for me 🤓 Thanks for visiting, as always 🥰
It made my day to actually meet you and hug you. I can totally agree that the marketplace on Saturday was super busy and overwhelming. I couldn’t really get into some of the booths to take a look. I’ve already put my wine glass progress keeper on a pair of socks. Can’t wait to start using the wool I bought from Yarn Indulgences. You are just lovely. Thanks for the progress keeper:) I enjoyed the tour:)
Thank you and same 💕 So happy to be able to hang out even for a little bit 🤓 I've ordered more of the wine glass progress keepers because I didn't even get one for myself 😆
So glad you had such a good time in the yarn festival and family/friends time afterwards❤️ The footage from the booths at the yarn show was amazing- my dream is to get yarn from Gingersnap and Yarnindulgences🤞🏻
I’ve decided I’m old lol $42 for a sock blank makes me feel old! I love it, it’s beautiful, but I remember, back in the day, walking to school, up hill, both ways, barefoot in the snow ;) when they were like $18-$22 ish USD …I am now that old guy shaking his stick telling the kids to “get off my lawn” and saying “back in my day”. What lovely spinning finds! Can’t wait to see them knit up! Great travel blog as well!
Loved the tour of some of the booths! But, I’m sitting here thinking “Why was I not there?”. Having seen all that beautiful yarn I have to get myself to the next one. Glad you had a good time even if it was hectic! Great podcast!
I can’t believe a week has gone by! Since I was there -it was great to meet you in person Nancy We went to “Six “ on Saturday night Galt house of yarn is my favourite shop - I recognized a few of the people in the knitting group ! Thanks for a great tour of the booths - I think I missed a few lol
It was such a whirlwind wasn't it?!? How did you like Six? I have some of the songs on my Broadway Playlist. Galt was amazing and I will definitely be back next time I go to see family...I'll have to time it with a knit social again and hang out with the lovely knitters 💕 Thanks for coming to say hello...that was a highlight for me, getting to meet so many lovely knitters in person 🥰
It was lovely to meet you last Sunday. We are still on our road trip and heading back to the UK in a week’s time, with plenty of goodies from Knit City.
I hope you've been enjoying your time on this side of the pond. I'm late replying, so you're probably heading back in a couple of days. Safe travels and happy knitting with your Canadian souvenirs 🇨🇦❣️
A wonderful episode Nancy. I'm having a chuckle as I am trying out your heel or doing the 3 knit stitches at the beginning and end of every heel row so that it is easier to pick up the stitches. Enjoying it and this episode very much. Knit City looked like so much fun. I get that overwhelmed feeling every August when I go to The Twist Fibre Festival. Hard to have any kind of a yarn shopping plan with all of the beautiful yarn surround you. Best wishes!
Thank you Nancy. It was delightful to meet and hug you both at Knit City and at Galt House of Yarn. Starting my Put A little Love in Your Heart socks at Galt House of Yarn while you were there was neat. What was most delightful was how approachable you are and finding out you are originally from Kitchener + now live on the East Coast in New Brunswick explains your down to earth nature. Your vlog about your Ontario visit was great. I wish I had gone out for a walk in Toronto while I was visiting there, and seeing Kitchener through your eyes put it under a new light for me too. Your fleece and yarn finds + gifts are all perfectly you and I wish you much enjoyment with your making and we will see you again in a few weeks. Cheers friend.
I can't say thank you enough Fiona❣️❣️ It was so nice to be able to shop with you at Galt and just have a bit more time after the busyness of Knit City. Hopefully my next visit to Ontario will allow us to meet up and sit and knit 💕 I hope you're loving your socks 🧦
@@knitsiphappy Thank you Nancy. I would really enjoy some sit and knit time next visit. And if I am going to be in New Brunswick for work or travel I will reach out to you. Take care.
Your footage on the plain and then coming into the city was awesome. Such a great view from your hotel! The private tour at Knit city was wonderful! It would be the only way I know of to stay on a budget would be to watch the footage 😆
Lol Cheri!!! Or work at the show, apparently that curbs spending as well 😁 I'm glad you enjoyed the trip and I'm so happy to have the memories recorded to enjoy later. Happy knitting 🧶
Just watched the vlog. I was so happy to see you caught that fascinating sky on Tuesday/Wednesday. We were out getting ice cream and saw it. I'm such a terrible photographer that I didn't take a picture. I live in Watwrloo so it was fun to see home on the tv.
Nancy, thank you for the tour of the vendors. I didn't get a chance to explore everything and definitely missed a lot. Working the booth saved me money but I also have some FOMO of things I have seen on social media and with other podcasters. I will be going to KYF in two weeks, so I will be able to make up with some shopping. I look forward to seeing a finished Lento, I do have that in my que.
Enjoy Kawartha Wendy and hopefully you can shop to your hearts content ♥️ I'm glad I recorded the Friday night because I wouldn't have had the brain to do it Saturday or Sunday 🤓
I've been listening to the Hadestown soundtrack on repeat. So much fun! I had to take a minute to realize it was you...it was Scout's picture that confirmed it for me 😂😂
Nancy! Wow - I loved this! I'm from Waterloo and think of Galt House of Yarn as my LYS. What a delight to see you at our local parks and on the ION. Great footage from Knit City and TO.
It was a lot of fun playing tourist in my hometown ❣️ Galt would be very dangerous to be that close 🤓 Next time I'm in town we'll need to arrange a KW knit and chat 🧶
It was such a JOY to watch this morning !! I loved seeing all the booths , and you described all the yarns ( POSSUM ?!??) in such a wonderful way !! I also enjoyed seeing the parks, trees etc. in the city !
Thanks so much Darlene❣️ I really enjoyed sharing the amazing yarns, bags and other goodies. I'll have to remember to do that again, the night before 🤓
Loved the footage you showed of Knit City Toronto, especially when I saw Karen, from Unwind Yarn House.🙂. That is my favorite LYS.❤Karen is such a lovely person. I would have loved to have been able to attend but unfortunately was not able to.😔 Perhaps next time. It looked as if you had a wonderful time on your trip to Ontario. As always, look forward to your next podcast. Happy Knitting.😁
Going to Unwind is definitely on the radar for my next trip. I enjoyed spending a little bit of time with Karen. Thanks for hanging out with me Sherri 💕
Nancy, it was so nice to finally meet you in person and to be able to sit and enjoy a visit and some knitting after the hustle and bustle of Knit City was over! You did a fantastic job capturing the vibe of the weekend with your vlog. Looking forward to seeing future knits with your purchases. 💜
Thank you Kelly 💕 I'm so glad that we got to breakfast together and have a good chat 🤓 Next year in Montreal, I'm getting that club access! Can't wait to see your Knitting Loft purchases on Tuesday. I missed my catch up with you this week
Thanks for the walk through of Knit City - it was nice to live vicariously through your tour! Nice to know that you are from Kitchener (I’m a life long resident of Kitchener-Waterloo) and see some of our more picturesque places shown.
Loved the tour of booths in a quiet atmosphere with your personal touch. I don’t find it interesting to see the endless scanning of yarn from a distance
Thank you Hilda❣️ I'm so glad that I thought to do it on Friday night because I would have had a hard time getting any decent footage with so many people around 🤓
Fun and lovely podcast. Loved the KnitCity review, yarn shops, dinners and theatre shares! Saw you on Selma’s of Little Big Knits KnitCity review podcast. I was watching really late Sunday night and thought I saw Lucy Ann from Front Porch Knitter. Backed the video up today and it was! There are not any yarn shows close to where I live. Love seeing all the vendors through podcasts. Loved seeing the Garden cardigan at the yarn shop knitting group. I’m knitting one in cotton with The Knitting Place KAL/class. Fun cardigan to knit. Thanks! 💗💗🧶🧶
I just saw the Lucy Ann posted a new video this morning...can't wait to catch up with her 😎 I hadn't seen the Garden Cardigan before and I have to go and look it up. Thanks for spending some time with me on travels 💕 I'm happy to be home and getting back to normal for a while
Thank you so much for the yarny Canadian coverage! Hoping to get to a Knit City event in the near future! I really need to get on the Gingersnap train!
Loved seeing your footage of Knit City. I didn’t make it there but a friend sent me a surprise braid of cormo from A Lair Artifacts - can’t wait to spin it. Next time you are visiting family in Kitchener you may wish to visit Wellington Fibre if you haven’t already. Not too far a drive and they have gorgeous fibre for spinning - wool/mohair/silk blends and colour ways to die for! Looking forward to see what comes of all of your Galt House of Yarn purchases. I have family not far and have been thrilled with anything I have bought there. Happy knitting and spinning!
How fun! A L'air Artifacts had so many amazing braids...it was very hard to choose. I bought some Wellington Fibre back in 2019 at the KW yarn show, but getting to visit the farm would be even better. Galt was a very impressive shop and i can't wait to go back on my next visit 💕
Great podcast Nancy. Loved the Vlog style this time too. Would love to be able to get to Knit City some day. But it’s a long way from New Zealand - as soon as they perfect that”Beam me up Scotty” technology…. I’ll be there!
Thank God you took all that footage. I was in Knit City on Saturday at peak time and I don't think I got to many of the booths you showed us. I did manage to get some yarn, but I wish I stayed for Sunday! I live in Hamilton, so I need to check out the Galt House of yarn store. I didn't know it existed. Thank you Rosie
Wasn't it busy Rosie? I was very glad that I had the walk around on Friday night! Galt is a lovely shop...I'd highly recommend having a day out to go and visit. Did you get anything amazing at Knit City?
Thanks for a great tour. Although I live in the greater Toronto area, I felt too intimidated to attend Knit City. Your footage was fabulous Going to visit Galt House of Yarn
It was a pleasure Wendy ❣️ When it comes back to Toronto in 2026, you should come on Sunday...it's much quieter and less overwhelming. Have fun at Galt as well 🤓 It's a great shop 🧶
I love seeing yarn festivals around the world - this one looked amazing. Thanks for the tour. I was intrigued by the merino-possum yarn combo (?🤔), weren't you tempted?? Look forward to your next podcast!
I was very tempted Aly, but I couldn't decide what colour I wanted and then my brain shut down 😆 It was a great show, but I paid for not having a plan and trying to be spontaneous. 🥴 There's always next time 🤓
@@knitsiphappy I am off to Gothenburg Sweden on Sunday for the week (husband at conference and going with him) - first thing I searched for was yarn shops!! Festivals/yarn shops around the world - count me in. Delighted to report that there are 3 😁...
OH! If I only had some red shoes... Id definitely click my heels and head for Knit City.
Thanks so much for sharing!! Absolutely yummy!

@@knitsiphappy I did. Myak yarn that I've always wanted to try, some from Biscotte and Sonder yarn.
Nice!!!!
Thanks for a great tour. Although I live in the greater Toronto area, I felt too intimidated to attend Knit City. Your footage was fabulous
Going to visit Galt House of Yarn
It was a pleasure Wendy ❣️ When it comes back to Toronto in 2026, you should come on Sunday...it's much quieter and less overwhelming. Have fun at Galt as well 🤓 It's a great shop 🧶
Hello from Swansea, Illinois.
Hello Janet❣️ Thanks for hanging out with 💕
Have seen a propeller plane in 100 years!!!😮😂
Lol! We have quite a lot of Turbo Prop planes because we are regional flights out of the Maritime region
I said the gods were shining down on as well.
Loved your vlog - so sorry I wasn't able to make it Wednesday
I've been thinking about you and your husband, Ellen 💕 I'll definitely be back to Galt when I come back to KW to visit and we will make it happen 🤓
Oooohhhh!! Have the best time! And I think that's completely normal behaviour 😆
Great podcast ❤️
Thanks for spending some time with me Barbara 💕
@@knitsiphappy I love spending time with you ❤️
Same on my end! I love coming and chatting and knowing that there's lovely knitters out there sharing the love of our craft 🧶
I have a silly question, but what is the purpose of buying a sock blank, as opposed to just buying a skein or cake of yarn to make your socks from?
Not a silly question at all! The colour distributes in a really fun way when you knit from a blank. It's just something different 🧦
