    CORRECTIONS AND UPDATES:
    -I misspoke about the TRUST test. In order to fly any UAS in the US, you must complete the FAA TRUST test. You are NOT required to register your UAS if the total weight including the battery and any other attachments total under 249grams. The intelligent flight battery plus WILL put the Mini 3 over the 249gram weight limit thus making it so you must register the UAS after taking and passing the TRUST test!!!
    - The RC-N1 is capable of going from Ocusync 2 to Ocusync 3+
    -The MINI 2 Gimbal can be controlled past 0° . You can enable this by turning on the "Allow upward Gimbal rotation" option in settings. Doing this will allow for an extra 20° of upward rotation.
    -The MINI 3 is now capable of taking 48MP photos via a firmware update!
    Apologies for the misinformation.

      Thanks for your very informative video. My understanding is that the output of both controllers is the same but the drone, such as with the DJI Mini 3 Pro having better antennas determines weather the total package utilizes Ocusync 2 or 3+. In other words, with either controller when flying either the Mini 2 or Mini 3 your connection between the controller and the drone will be Ocusync 2, however if you're flying the Mini 3 Pro with either controller your connection will be Ocusync 3+.

      @@thriftysurvivor6117 Thanks for watching and I'm glad you found the info helpful. You are definitely correct. From what I understand the Mini 3 Pro has 2 additional antennas that give it the ability to utilize Ocusync 3 while the Mini 2 and Mini 3 have 2 antennas that only allow both UAV's to utilize Ocusync 2.
      Hope that helps.

    Superb comparison!... so few people explain the controllers and batteries. Dronelink now works on the mini 3 for waypoints but I prefer the 3rd party options for the mini 2 (litchi and maven). The most compelling reason for me to get the mini 3 is the battery options ....but without reliable waypoint automation of search patterns while I watch the feed....the mini 2 gets my money.

      @@WIHRC ya I figured out that Mini 3 is using Ocusync 2 and thats why its not supporting. However, These goggles do support older FPV units like Vista, Air unit etc. Not sure why they are not supporting Ocusync 2.0.... too much of control on feature releases

      @rcrahul3657 The only legit reason I can think of for this is 💰 💰 💸. It could also be about the amount of data it would take to transmit and maintain the feed, but mostly money 💰 lol

    Great video.
    In my opinion in June 2023 the mini 2 still has better signal strength over the mini 3.
    To go distances over 2km I need to start rising the altitude on the mini 3 where as the mini 2 just seems to work.
    Both excellent drones and I agree with everything you said.

      @WIHRC  Год назад +1

      Much appreciated. In all honesty I can't speak on signal performance when it comes to both UAV's but I have heard people say that the mini 2 has a better signal which I'm guessing has to do with the RC-N1.
      I personally adhere to part 107 rules so I haven't had a reason to go beyond VLOS.

    This is an excellent comparison. Think I will be ordering the 3. My only concern is the wind and bright sun where I live in Cabo San Lucas. The Remote may be an issue, will get the shade as well.

    • @WIHRC
      @WIHRC  Год назад

      I appreciate the kind common and that you found the information in this video useful. Cabo San Lucas looks like it has some amazing scenery, so the Mini 3 will definitely serve you well. I'm not sure how strong the wind gets there, but I will say that the wind may not be as much of a problem when you're flying out an open area. This may only be a real issue if you're flying in an area with lots of obstacles and your drone is blown either forward, backward, or upward. I no longer have the mini 3, but I've tested my Mini 3 Pro in 72 mph winds, and it did pretty okay but came close to hitting an object at different points during that test. That shade would definitely be a good idea. I have a specific screen protector that is supposed to block out UV light, but it actually darkens the screen so that shade will definitely do much better for you. Are you purchasing your Mini 3 brand new or getting it refurbished?

    Have you noticed a big difference between 02 and 03 transmission strength? Personally I have no use for obstical avoidance so I was thinking of grabbing rhe base model mini 3. Givin the fact that it has a longer flight time over the pro model it seems like a down grade to get the pro model imo. Less to go wrong aswell in the long run, you can't have sensor errors if you don't have them 😀.

    • @WIHRC
      @WIHRC  Год назад

      Nothing significant, but I fly predominantly open areas with lots of nature. I'd imagine that you'd find things to be different if you were flying in an area that has heavy wireless activity.
      Either Mini 3 is a good option. I fly with the extended batteries 99% of the time. The obstacle avoidance sensors can come in handy most in area with closely grouped obstacles like a forest.
      In open spaces, you don't need to worry as much, but there could also be the occasional electric cable or something like that you might not see from a distance
      If you aren't oppsed to refurbished products, I'd check out the prices for those.
      Personally, I'd stay away from buying used or open box unless the entities selling them know of the UAS has been released from the account it was tethered to.

      @@WIHRC thanks for the reply one more question if you don't mind, have you noticed a difference in flying time between the 3 and pro? The 3 base is supposed to fly a bit longer just wondering if you have noticed if it does or not. I fly open areas aswell with trees off in the distance, ive gotten 4km away with my mini 2. Not bad but with the battery plus on the mini 3 I should be able to double that theoretically😀.

    • @WIHRC
      @WIHRC  Год назад

      No problem at all. Ask all the questions you have. Honestly the battery life difference is negligible. I live in a state that has a higher altitude and more wind at times. The Mini 3 maybe gets like 2 to 5 minutes more but you could just also turn of the sensors on the PRO.
      I personally haven't test range since I haven't been flying for too long and because with remote ID in effect, and the fact that I'm going for my Part 107, I just haven't had the urge.
      The best way to really think about this now is having the sensors on the mini 3 Pro can't hurt as you can always just turn them off if you don't want to use them. Aside from that the 1080p feed you get does make a difference in terms of the overall quality of what is seen on your controllers this way.
      The Mini 3 will definitely net you the ability to use the extended battery and is a great option to go with if what I said about the Mini 3 Pro doesn't matter to you. If I can make a recommendation I would look into getting the Mini 3 Pro making sure that where you're purchasing it from has a return policy that's at least 14 days and compare it with your mini 2.
      If you happen to see the differences and equality of your flight as well as the transmission feed then the 3 Pro would definitely have been worth it at that point.
      If not then it would be best to return it at that point and go with Mini 3.
      Hope this helps

    I'm looking at some second hand options: 1. mini pro 3 with RC, 2 batteries and a case for $800. 2. Mavic air 2s fly more $850 3. Mini 2 Fly More Combo $450. 4. Mini 3 with rc n1$470 - which is the best value? Its going to be for a hobby and taking pictures/videos in nature.

    • @WIHRC
      @WIHRC  8 месяцев назад

      Hmm, that's honestly kind of tough, but if it was me, I'd most likely go for the Air2s, especially since it comes with the Fly more combo. The one in sensor is going to give you more detail even though the aperture is a bit lower than the mini 3 series. You also have the omnidirectional obstacle avoidance as well as waypoints I think so you have room to grow with that drone versus the others. It's also going to do better in the Wind than any of the others you mentioned.
      On the flip side, the Mini 3 Pro might end up being a better option if the fly more combo you'll receive is with two standard batteries. The reason for this is because if it is over the $249 G limit you'll have to register it anyway. There's also the added bonus of being able to pack it easily and the fact that if you happen to go outside of the US, I believe most countries only allow drones under a certain weight limit.
      Hopefully all of this was helpful.

      I guess it comes down to what you're looking to get out of the Drone. Sure the Mini 3 Pro is more expensive than the Mini 2 but if you go refurbished then you can definitely find it closer to even the Mini 3 price and some cases, however If obstacle avoidance or being able to record at 4K in 50 and 60 fps isn'tsomething you care for, then the Mini 3 should definitely be the next upgrade.
