it actually take 5 min to install drivers by windows update , and linux use open source drivers pre installed in most distros soo thats why you don't have to worry and install the real drivers later . but in a year 5 min doesn't matter

First thing I did was uninstall everything that could be uninstalled, and remove all the ads, and then reinstall the Windows 7 apps. Then I used it for a few months, until there was a service pack that reinstalled all the crap, so I had to do it all over again. Needless to say I am typing this from Ubuntu.
More girth is always better. Small and fragile isn't good for anyone. We want it thick and stiff for more durability so it can continue performing under heavy loads for a long time.

Just installed windows 11 on a laptop and man it was annoying. it didn't take 10 minutes to install the os files on the hard drive but it took at least 15 minute for first setup with adds everywhere and microsoft asking you again and again to but some product. After that, first update, system crashed, laggy AF. Yeah, i don't know who still use windows but Good luck
Reasons people still use Windows: - Non-Power user: + It came preinstalled on the laptop and does everything it should - Gaming: + Kernel based Anti-Cheats + Can't use proton + Don't want to play on an oficially unsupported platform - Professionals + Work laptops come with Windows installed by IT department + Has to use Adobe/Microsoft apps - Stigma against Linux: + Linux used to be the hackers and tinkerers OS -> scary + Bad experiences with gatekeeping Linux subcommunities Those are what I can think of off the top of my head in descending order of how many people I estimate to be using Windows over Linux for said reason.

I absolutely refuse to install it on my own Windows PCs so...can't blame a Mac user for not wanting to install that version of Windows either 🤣🤣

Install windows offline not to get ads when you first boot. And then it's the same as all those "10 things to do after installing *insert linux distro name here*" articles. I have two tweak apps, that i restore after install and it's a clean desktop from there. What bothers me more is that it's still full of admin tools that haven't changed since windows 95. Oh and a half baked dark mode.

Oh no, those are actually apps. They come pre installed to all Windows PCs and are reinstalled on every fresh install. It makes it feel cheap, even on a $1k computer. I've been with Windows for 17 years, I'm thinking of coming back to Mac.
😅 no, those are links/ads. The ones that look like ads do not pre-install and are not included. You can disable them more easily by installing windows N version, though on N version you have to install the media pack codecs from the settings manually.

windows 11 paint has ai supported background removal now when you select something in a picture, its pretty neat. and it has layers which was surprising
I really like windows 11 but had a great laugh. In its vanilla form it really is terrible, I have mine debloated and working beautifully but I spent a lot of time learning how to do that. It simply shouldn't be so necessary. I'm Australian and a big sweater too.
If you pay it downloads the suite which works like it always has. That Office 'app' is just what you click to buy it. It costs me AUD $100 a year which includes the email that used to bundle with Windows when that wasn't free. Now Windows only has a basic one. I think it's worth it compared to yearly charges for both Adobe's paid PDF software or McAfee's anti virus. That also includes download/access on all my devices including Android phone/tablets all synced through One Drive if I want.

it takes quite a lot of effort to set up a spyware and adware free windows installation nowadays, you have to run some github scripts and debloaters. shame certain game devs keep ignoring linux otherwise many people would just switch.
Linux, like most things open source, has that fragmentation problem though. Steam is at it with fixing it, but they are fixing it by providing a compatibility layer. Linus Torvalds was right, it makes no sense to compile for 15 different distros.
This has been my obstacle for using windows too (still use it at work). The only way I can describe modern windows is disobedient. I actually have a lot of patience for stuff breaking (I'm a programmer). But whenever windows does something on it's own, I'm filled with uncontrollable rage. Fortunately once I'm off work I don't have to deal with it anymore.

I use it daily and the edition let's you configure it however you want, I've setup windows update and other stuff to be not very intrusive and it hasn't "disobeyed" me since then there are free ISO download links on massgrave's website and licenses for them if you're interested, switching from home/pro to ltsc is one of the best choices I've ever made in the time that I've been using windows

not saying Linux is bad btw, I fully agree that Linux is better than windows but I still prefer windows due to multiple reasons
This has been my obstacle for using windows too (still use it at work).
The only way I can describe modern windows is disobedient. I actually have a lot of patience for stuff breaking (I'm a programmer). But whenever windows does something on it's own, I'm filled with uncontrollable rage. Fortunately once I'm off work I don't have to deal with it anymore.
@@ethograb LTSC exists. I use it daily and the edition let's you configure it however you want, I've setup windows update and other stuff to be not very intrusive and it hasn't "disobeyed" me since then
there are free ISO download links on massgrave's website and licenses for them if you're interested, switching from home/pro to ltsc is one of the best choices I've ever made in the time that I've been using windows
@@thecatontheceilingNot disagreeing with you, but modern linux is pretty easy to install, just go through the partitions and wifi and a few more things and the OS is set up already
