I used an iPhone 5c for just over a year. It wasn't a bad phone by any stretch of the imagination. It was basically the iPhone 5 in plastic. That said, it wasn't really what people expected from Apple; the fact that it didn't do well and was discontinued doesn't surprise me.
It also didn't help you could just spend $50 - $100 more and get either an apple refurbished iphone 5 or just buy a used one for far less. The 5C was just poorly priced and the plastic was a significantly worse material than the aluminum on the 5.
The 5C was my first and only iPhone. I thought it was pretty nice. Jailbreaking it was pretty fun too. My friend and I in high school would use SMS Flooder on each other. Spamming each other so hard that it would crash the springboard was a memorable experience.
Had the 5c several years ago it was my first iPhone had it for only three days before I accidentally dropped it while trying to bring in some groceries into my apartment

The ONLY TIME I ever owned an apple product was this phone. I bought this phone for me and my THEN wife because she wasn't technically literate. APPLE decided that they wouldn't update my iOS after owning about a year, which made me UNABLE to update ANY apps EVER. It basically bricked my phone as I couldn't use ANYTHING without an update. I've never since and NEVER will own their products. You just demonstrated the hell I suffered. THANK SAM!
Sam I know it’s an old phone with crappy camera and video but you actually can still use it and turn it into 4K content with AI up scaling for free making any old iPhone new once more 😊
I actually was a fan of this phone. I got the Goophone clone of this back in the day and had a ton of fun with it. I really don't get why not a lot of people were a fan of a durable and lightweight budget iPhone in various bright colors.
I always wanted the iPhone 5C. I went to a book fair once and they had some coloring book that came with a very iPhone 5C-looking texter holder. Got it once and lost it, I still miss it to this day/
I remember in 2013 when I was going to get my first phone with my dad, iPhone 5C was one of my options because I had no idea of cell phone brands at the time and iPhone was only brand I knew to due their advertisements on TV and I needed a phone for college but my dad did not want to deal with contracts so I had to pick a phone with a prepaid plan so I ended up getting a Samsung Exhibit II 4G with a 1000 minute prepaid plan. 10 years later I finally got my first iPhone which is the iPhone 15 Pro Max after being with Android for 10 years.
I have 4 of those. 1 is even a 32GB which was silly huge. I somehow decided I needed to get all the colors, didn't want a white one though. I did pack the 32 GB one with music. I was going to comment that I didn't know you could even buy a case. I've never seen a damaged one except for the easily replaced screen. It's like a case for a Nokia flip.
Sam needs to review a Palm PVG 100 with it's half hour of use battery. Now that is a tiny phone. I have one I bought off ebay for $50 and used for a month or so. It really isn't good for anything but it does work fine for an emergency phone. As in "THIS BETTER BE AN EMERGENCY!"
I loved that phone, but couldn’t buy phones at that time, so I waited, and eventually bought the iPhone SE 2016. Now still using the 13 mini. Smaller phones are simply better.
Never understood why everybody hated the 5C. Had one just like yours - absolutely loved it. It was indeed unapologetically plastic and absolutely fantastic feel in the hand. not like nowaday glass slabs.
I would have an iPhone se minimal edition which looked like that and had updated hardware with plastic back any day but only if it launched within 200 dollars

I had the 5C, liked the design but hated the thing with a fury.. someone actually begged me to sell it to him.. for actually quite the amount of money.. all while the back was totally scratched.. I really wanted to keep it since I enjoy owning crap tech.. but man they paid like almost 300 bucks.. more than half the original price after 4 years.. people be crazy

In 2023 i’ve seen a few 5c’s around still, even seen a iphone 4’s but mostly 6’s…. When it comes to older phones anyway. I wouldn’t consider my 12 pro max old(to old) the 15 comes out this year or 16??? I’m not fully up to date on that.

I make fun of the Amish a lot, but I work from home as a designer for an Amish pre-fab framing company because they don't want computers in their shop. If it weren't for their silly rules, I'd still be working 12 hour days in a factory rather than binging dumb tech videos while I work in the convenience of my own home.
A friend of mine had been complaining about the durability of the Android phones she had been buying, so we bought the used iPhone 5c(basically because she was broke at that time). The phone lasted for more than 4 years and she got hooked on using iphone. Now that iPhone is a bit expensive even the used ones are more expensive than a new budget Android phone(which are now better than they used to be) she has moved back to Android. This makes me wonder why people hated the phone. She stopped using it because of the battery..
Overall It was a really strange unnecessary phone. Already had the 5 and the 5s. The c offered nothing different that was really that beneficial. It wasnt as good as a 5s and I don’t even think it was that different from a regular 5 outside of its weird shape and I think color variations. it required cases and accessories made just for the 5c and nothing else. Whereas 5 and 5s accessories were interchangeable. C was fine as far as being a phone was concerned but in the catalog of iPhones it just really had no purpose.

It was an iphone 5 with an iphone 4 processor, worse camera (it wasn't a huge deal) and cheap plastic housing that would get scratched really easily
