love to escape into a bit of nostalgia when the present is so grim. Miss those days.Gregory is my favourite Villa manager for his character alone.Loved these videos cheers lads UTV
Brilliant video once again just what I needed after yesterday. Can't believe someone took my RIP Dalian Atkinson flag off the William McGregor statue. Been there since the Huddersfield at home game, we were unbeaten at home until it was taken off. 😂🙈
This guy brought so much passion and pride to us. What a great manager he was. Those first 12 months were my favourite as a Villa fan. It was just win after win after win. The whole place was buzzing and the signings of Merson and Dublin took us to another level whilst improving every single one of the rest of the squad. I was only just 14 at Christmas 98 but I remember thinking we were going to win the league. It didn't happen but it was a great feeling to actually think we had a chance.
watching proper villans keeps our spirit up and hopes of seasons past vtwd!!! still say we need ex villa people in the set up management coaches etc they no what it means to us...
Superb again fellers. I can't speak highly enough of your efforts to entertain us. Thank you. It really lifts the spirit listening to John here as the modern day team plough on through our recent most frustrating days. I think Brucie ought to show these videos the the current crop of lads. It might inspire them. It definitely renews MY hope for the Villa everytime I listen to him anyway. It would certainly be fantastic to have him around the club nowadays in some capacity or other. Even if it was just on matchdays. He's Villa Royalty and deserves the respect of all and sundry. Unlike with Ron Atkinson and many others in the past, the manager's job at Villa was all about the Club and the team for John. He never had an ego that needed stroking (like Atkinson) and there was never any pretence. He's the same now in these videos as he was all those years ago. What a man. UTV VTID
I was 12 in 1998-99 and remember the Juninho saga so well. So many 'what ifs' that season. I remember reading an article on 'calendar years' that said villa would have been champions if the year 1998 was a season.
Fantastic interview - Great channel guys. Not even a Villa fan but absolutely loving the interview. Sad that Gregory was one of the last managers given the opportunity to come up from the lower leagues and get a chance in the Premier League. Doug Ellis might have got a fair bit pf stick over the years but he certainly gave British and Irish managers a chance. Thanks again!
Great interview, thanks. Although I think John's being rather selective with his memory regarding Collymore's depression - "I could understand a single mother in a council flat suffering from depression, but not a well-paid footballer." - Not quite the sympathetic and supportive bedside manner that he seems to recollect.
Really want to say thank you to JG. He showed things did make him worry but he had such courage. You did us proud, John.

Guy Jones brilliant times under JG. Still can't believe we got to sit down and ask all the things I've always wanted to know!
Thanks for watching pal.

Danielle Billingsley thanks for watching our stuff. Difficult for villa fans to let go of past when we are in the mire! Great times under JG.
Haha brilliant, 'David Unsworth not knowing where Birmingham is'....
Does your Mrs know you're here? Haha class

Still my favourite Villa Manager. (90s baby)
Great interview this!
JG's comment about being riled by the media attitude towards us back rings true.
Hasn't changed to this day has it?!
brilliant
Ask JG if would ever think of coming back to villa park as manager again
