He signed fellaini for united; arguably the best signing united made since Fergie left. Caused no problems in the squad, and god knows how many points he saved us down the years. He did three things very well; was a dangerous target man who scored often enough, and forced the opposition players to gravitate towards him and create space for other players. He gave us an option to play through the midfield from the air with balls that any other player on the pitch would have to flick on, but that he could take down to his feet. Very good option for avoiding the press and retaining possesion. He also did well as arial defence when you were holding onto a game and defending long balls.
I think he'll be one of those who is only really appreciated long after he's gone. His ability to control a ball with his chest was the best I've ever seen.

When you look back at that Everton team 2005-2014, they really should have won something during that time so while Moyes deserves great credit as a tactician, I also think he lacked a bit of ability to deliver confidence on the big occasion. I think back to the 2009 cup final and the way they coiled into their shell after scoring rather than trying to play to their pressing strength, at a time when they traditionally gave Chelsea an uncomfortable game. The 2012 cup semi-final against Liverpool when Everton went into the game in great form while Liverpool were in a bit of a mess. David Moyes as a manager is always laughed at and ridiculed because of his short time at Manchester United but his time at Everton showed what a masterclass of a manager he actually was, taking a nothing team who were persistently languishing near the relegation zone for years, with a transfer budget that matched a struggling team and slowly got them to be a strong contender for trophies, all the whilst struggling with a very low transfer budget. Granted he never won anything whilst at Everton but he had proven he could take on a struggling premiership team that had a very low transfer budget and make them into contenders. If only Everton had the financial mite of the top 6, who knows what he was capable of. Funny thing is, that chance came when he took on the managers job at Manchester United when Alex Ferguson retired. Even though they have just won the league title, the squad was ageing and nearly everyone in the football world knew this. Moyes had to rebuild the squad but the biggest problem was that a new executive had join the club, a man who had no previous football experience what so ever, but came in with the responsibility of handling players transfers, that man be vice chairman Ed Woodward. As every manager does, they give the list of players who they want to the person in charge of getting those players. Moyes was no different but here was the problem and in many people's opinion, the downfall of Moyes term as manager was that his list went to a man who have ZERO experience of football club transfer dealings. The result of this is that Moyes was unable to get ANY of the players he requested and ended up making a panic buy, getting Marouane Fellaini. With no new fresh players coming to the club, Moyes was stuck with the ageing players, players who were stuck in their ways and only knew how to play on style of football, that style being Fergusons style of football. I'm a little less sanguine about Silva. To me he is just Martinez with a cheaper tailor. But I do agree, something special is happening for Everton and its and exciting time to be an Evertonian. I think, though, its more likely Mr Brands will be the surer vector for the improvement
@@shanewright2772respect your opinion pal. i wanted marco appointed right when back when koeman was sacked and trust him (and unlike others i did stick by him through that awful mid season spell unlike others now pretending they always liked him) 1) I think he's a bit more adaptable then roberto was, yes he has his style but unlike martinez who played the same way no matter what, he's willing to make tweaks to it. 2) Also many may disagree but when it has been clicking, the football we played this year is the best i've watched (21 years old, been an evertonian around 15 years) and i include the first martinez season in that. yes the results were better that season, but the high press high tempo passing of this team i enjoy even more when its on fire. 3) remember what the man inherited, martinez got a very good moyes team and added a top striker to it, marco has had to rebalance the defence and midfield because our team was in horrible shape when he arrived, and he didn't really have a proper striker this season.. also we were playing good stuff under moyes the previous year and roberto added to that, marco had to radically change it from the bollocks of allardyce (and i would argue to a lesser extent koeman) and that takes time. 4. his track record that for some reason has been shat on a lot is underrated, he was hugely successful at estoril, sporting and olympiakos, he turned round hull and almost kept that awful team in the league (niasse up front was their talisman lol) and his watford team were going really well till we turned him (hope you enjoyed those abusive cunts getting pumped in the fa cup final too) 5. also love the man's down to earth personality. roberto was positive even when everything was going to shit which was infuriating and koeman and allardyce has an arrogance that evertonians don't like, marco has come with the attitude he has to prove himself to us, which i love. Just a few reasons why i'm a fan of him!
I'm surprised Moyes didn't mention how the Baines / Pienaar combination would mix it up with Pienaar staying wide at times and Baines "under lapping" - which he knew he could afford to do because Pienaar's ball retention was so good, as was his ability to find Baines run on the inside with cute and clever play (or if not, he would often draw a foul and win us a free kick in a dangerous position).
Opposition had a makeshift centre-back so we put Fellaini high and hit the diagonal all game. Thanks for the tactical masterclass. It's a wonder Moysie is out of work.
david moyes is a football genius .........lolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
Based many a Football Manager tactic out of your Everton side, David. Still think it's a style that's applicable these days, but just needs the correct personnel. Nice attractive football, with a strong defence. Players came and left, but the tactics remained the same.
Probably the funniest thing I have seen in 40 plus years of watching football..the words "Masterclass" & "Moyes" in same sentence! CHEERS THE CLUELESS ONE! made my Crimbo!
Actually United beat Everton 2-0 at Old Trafford that season. Van Persie and I think Giggs(?) scored. I remember it because Fergie used it as a preparation game for Real Madrid which was a few days later. I guess Moyes got confused with the 4-4 from the season before.
Honestly, you can see he is a very good manager, but not for a big team, because you can see how good defensive he is and with a semi good team he can attack that way.. Maybe he shoulve tried Italy, his style seems to match with italian football, he can do well in a big club maybe
I remember watching Moyes get caught high up the pitch a few times when he played for Bristol City, it wasn't pretty, he obviously remembers it too lol
@@ozymandias8346 As a United fan myself, I feel we trolled him more than actually hating him. Fellaini used to frustrate me because of his slow transitioning of the ball from def to attack and his lack of pace. He slowed the game both for the opposition and United both lol. @@peterberisford4460 Mauricio Pochettino 5 yrs and counting, not won anything, so at the present moment, your point is worthless.
David Moyes is one of my favourite managers
Wish we had him now super Davie Moyes best etc manager for years legend👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️
Oh I love that Scottish accent, it's just so easy to understand, especially Fergie's speech 🏴 ❤️
I would have Moyes back at Everton in a heartbeat. To me he is part of the soul of the club.
unless you mean a role outside manager, i don't agree. Marco is going to make something special at our club. #inmarcoitrust
I'm a little less sanguine about Silva. To me he is just Martinez with a cheaper tailor. But I do agree, something special is happening for Everton and its and exciting time to be an Evertonian. I think, though, its more likely Mr Brands will be the surer vector for the improvement
@@shanewright2772respect your opinion pal. i wanted marco appointed right when back when koeman was sacked and trust him (and unlike others i did stick by him through that awful mid season spell unlike others now pretending they always liked him)
1) I think he's a bit more adaptable then roberto was, yes he has his style but unlike martinez who played the same way no matter what, he's willing to make tweaks to it.
I wouldn’t touch moyes with a barge pole he’s damaged goods and as they say , never go back
Terrific channel. Absolutely love the stuff you put out. Really insightful.
I love Moysey .. Preston North End Legend !!
I'm surprised Moyes didn't mention how the Baines / Pienaar combination would mix it up with Pienaar staying wide at times and Baines "under lapping" - which he knew he could afford to do because Pienaar's ball retention was so good, as was his ability to find Baines run on the inside with cute and clever play (or if not, he would often draw a foul and win us a free kick in a dangerous position).
the pienaar/baines link was quality.
Now I'm waiting for a video of him explaining the tactics of our decider against Fulham.
Everton team around 2007-2011 was a really decent team. Could be a top 4 team now
Opposition had a makeshift centre-back so we put Fellaini high and hit the diagonal all game.
Thanks for the tactical masterclass. It's a wonder Moysie is out of work.
Mate you might not like Moyes but targeting weakness in the opposition is clever tactics
It’s just that it’s what he also did in every other game
@@sacred1827 he did a decent job at Everton. I think he's outdated but is still probably good enough for a mid table prem team
Sure. I just don’t want to hear any tactical masterclasses from him
Great channel, so glad I recently discovered it
Thank you! 😭 We hope you'll stick around.
Respect
david moyes is a football genius .........lolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
would love for moyes to do well at west ham with us. starting to show signs but trying not to get ahead myself
We need a David Moyes tactics video with West Ham
Genius
Based many a Football Manager tactic out of your Everton side, David. Still think it's a style that's applicable these days, but just needs the correct personnel. Nice attractive football, with a strong defence. Players came and left, but the tactics remained the same.
Sir Alex Ferguson: Tactical evolution, Manchester United is a must!!!
I’m glad to see Moyes doing well for West Ham
These videos are so great, thankyou
The way he pronounce Le carslie ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
David moyes should be scotland manager.
He will be one day
No chance he's pish
Hope he becomes Manchester United's manager one day... Only time will tell.
@@Mrbeerus1 He already has and failed
@@JacobiteBhoy perfect match then ;)
Can you try and get Paul Cook on to describe his tactics for Wigan 1-0 Man City in 2018? That’d be amazing because I Love this channel!
Up The Tics 🔵⚪
The David Moyes turned real Madrid down twice to stay at Everton what a legend . BORN
Please Do Rafa Benitez UCL 2005 Final Liverpool vs Milan!
Miss you moyes
Such a pity he did great at Everton . Great if he could come back with team around him , give him total control.
legend
Now I understand why he plays Fornals out wide
Only coach who used Fellaini in a right way
bakterija48i fellaini was a mortal under him under Jose he was god
Probably the funniest thing I have seen in 40 plus years of watching football..the words "Masterclass" & "Moyes" in same sentence! CHEERS THE CLUELESS ONE! made my Crimbo!
@Sinjin Smyth not judgemental..just a football fan who hates the way Moyes's team play...HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOF!
Cheers mark
David Moyes is a good manager. He needs to go to a club he can build up again like Preston or Everton.
At the moment West Ham under his 2nd spell are picking up. They are 7th in the Prem.
Actually United beat Everton 2-0 at Old Trafford that season. Van Persie and I think Giggs(?) scored. I remember it because Fergie used it as a preparation game for Real Madrid which was a few days later. I guess Moyes got confused with the 4-4 from the season before.
Jack yep, you are spot on with that assumption haha
Would love to see David moyes talk about his season at united
this man is everton itself, he create the system there and should never go to man utd
Great video.
He has a good and solid transfer plan before he got sacked in Man Utd. In 2013 - Kroos, Cesc, Baines, Bale, Jagielka, Herrera
I'm still on your side David, 81 crosses are not that bad and you deserve better.
I LOVE PIENAAR AND OSMAN COMBO
Plua Baines combining on the flank with Pienaar, hard working partnership with understanding!
I really wanted him to succeed at united
Steven Schillo Pieenar. South Africa atand up.
Banging vid
Honestly, you can see he is a very good manager, but not for a big team, because you can see how good defensive he is and with a semi good team he can attack that way..
Maybe he shoulve tried Italy, his style seems to match with italian football, he can do well in a big club maybe
David Moyes masterclass 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
For Everton moyes did quite well all things considered
I feel like he should head back up to Scotland and try to get the Celtic job. He's had a bit of a tough run post Man Utd.
I remember watching Moyes get caught high up the pitch a few times when he played for Bristol City, it wasn't pretty, he obviously remembers it too lol
I just love the way he talks.
The last 5 minutes were dedicated to Fellaini. He can’t help himself, even now.
Tbh Fellaini in Everton was something else though.
nsking99 as a united fan I love fellaini. The man had his moment. He was unjustly hated by United fan
@@ozymandias8346 As a United fan myself, I feel we trolled him more than actually hating him.
Fellaini used to frustrate me because of his slow transitioning of the ball from def to attack and his lack of pace. He slowed the game both for the opposition and United both lol.
But he would score when we needed a goal the most and when everyone least expected him to. For those moments he saved us, I thank him from the bottom of my heart. He still is an ex united player.
miss you the chosen one lol
lmao he sucked arse
Should have been at Man U for years. 😂

You just know he loved being called a mastermind
Was always doomed to fail coming in after fergie, but United fans were too impatient at the time to give him a chance
We played some great football under Moyes which people forget about, a good striker would’ve put us in the top four 100%
Quality
I will always remember davy moyes for gettin players in for peanuts really an turning them into top players he was good at turnin crap players into average players an average players into very good ones an we certainly made a nice shillin on quite a few of moysies signings the same cant be said of koeman
He tried to turn man utd into Everton
Which was his down fall
Tried to bring players for Everton and took us straight to 7th and that was as good as he was
Showing vidic and Ferdinand videos of jagelka 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
His successor did far worse with far more time and a far more ridiculous amount of money than the 10 months Moyes got.
Show Rio and vidic a video of big dunc and watch them shit there nappies
Dear god, as much as I can respect Moyes for his work previously from United, the thumbnail is going to get eviscerated by the general public of the internet...let the memes begin.
shocking manager
Really is mate
He’s got red hair but we don’t care Davy Davy moyes
Even talking about the game his "defence first" approach comes through which gives mid table stability but zip all else hence his lack of silverware.
Since he left Goodison he's shown more affinity to the club than in the 11 years he was here he was a bit of a curmudgeon during his latter years confirming the suspicion he never truly grasped the specialness of the club.
He soon found out when he left
Ok mate
I still believe sacking moyes was a harsh decision. Guy needed his time
He wasn’t sacked at Everton
I'll save you all watching this video in full - he just says 'rigid 4-4-2 formation, lump the ball up to the big man' on a loop for 12 minutes
dozz87 so you didn’t watch it then
I think we have all forgotten, this guy made united play sideways football
I agree even all the players went to the team doctor thinking they had crabs
This tactical to defeat Liverpool 3 2 👏
