The only "Educational" benefit of this video is to show HOW NOT to carry out this repair. First the bearing is loose on the shaft second the bearing is totally shagged with lots of slop third that is the worst 7/8 BSW screw cutting that I have ever seen. You heated the shaft up to red heat so why not build up with 7018 weld, Not the 6013 that you always seem to use, and then recut the thread it would be both stronger and more accurate than the bodge that you have done.
Good video,I'm in the USA and we can get some parts but fewer and fewer.These guys show only how they get a truck BACK on the road{it may last a DAY or a year}who knows. The way they drive over there LONG TERM REPAIR ain't gonna happen.They only have vernal cals and no mics or dial calipers like we do.Surprising though as they are as cheap as 10 bucks or mutoys are only 100 US for the 6 inchers.A small 20 dollars set of thread pitch gauges would be good too.HIS made crappy threads because the carbide was dull,and he used way to fast of speed as you could see on the disengagement at end of thread.still a good vid
