      Right, we should all aspire to be literally dirt poor mechanics in Pakistan who can't even afford a welding helmet, and probably make as much in a year as an American mechanic makes in a week. If you want to break your back for pennies a day, go join them- some people try to actually build a better industry and working environment so that people have options other than to die in completely preventable mishaps, or live with broken backs from working hard labor from the age of 9.

    • @benniebarrow348
      @benniebarrow348 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@Blueshirt38it has nothing to do with “aspiration”……it’s respect for those who make the best with what they have and the intelligence that arises when one is limited on what is available. Living in the most technologically advanced and comfortable place in the world we sometimes lose touch with what is possible when actually pressed to make do. Everywhere is not the US (or other advanced countries) and never will be.

    Nothing like fitting a new seal using the sharp end of a screwdriver. Don't grind out the crack, just weld over it. Wipe the old seals down, chuck them on the ground, soak them in oil and put them back in. Amazing work technique.

    • @ericmartin5720
      @ericmartin5720 Год назад +47

      If you looked carefully you would have seen the welder arc gouge the crack/old weld. These guys know more about keeping worn out equipment in the field and making money/progress. Working on heavy equipment means a lot of make-do, not everyone has a Cat dealership right down the road. The screwdriver on the o-ring was on the back side non sealing surface of the ring. And it wasn’t a screwdriver it was an old valve. Make no mistake, these are good-old-boys who know exactly what they are doing.

    This truly makes do with the most basic tools available, I have never seen rails and tracks worn to the point of being used up before.

    Now watch some I C Weld equipment repair videos and compare prep and weld quality. He fixes much worse damage than that and does it properly.

    I thought cast iron was brittle and prone to cracking when welded. How long will this "repair" hold?

    Consulta porque los rodamientos se instalan en caliente y después se golpean tanto ?

    • @murcielagoligero
      @murcielagoligero Год назад

      el calor es para que ellos expandan y entren mas facil a lo que enfrian se ajustan y los golpes es para que lleguen a su sitio, aunque tiene que haber una forma mas tecnica para hacerlos llegar

    I am just wondering about the charges involved in repairing the wheel sprocket..with lots of manual work involved, as compared to in the more developed countries.
