I have the old 2020 s6 lite, I'm telling it still rocks for drawing.
Is it worth me getting a used one?
@@Ssh52 Yes, Trust me, if you're using it for digital art, it is worth it
Mine too!
@@Ssh52 absolutely, but watch for some screenburn with a used s6lite
☺ im watching this on an s6 lite
I've been using S6 Lite for a year, and for my needs it's perfect, don't feel urgency to change it. If one doesn't need the highest performance then there's no point for paying astronomical prices for newer or bigger versions. I'm glad they made S6 Lite, cause I couldn't afford any other one though
Do you use it for animation? I'm kinda on a budget and want to make sure I get the right tablet. Already made that mistake before.
I unfortunatly bought one that had performance issues from day 1. I thought the problems would get fixed over time but they only worsened u_u
By the time I realised I'd probably have to deal with this the whole time it was too late to return it for another tablet, now 2 years later I still have a love hate relationship with my tab s6 lite but hey it got me through college which was the main purpose.
@@Lyonessi Just picked up the updated 2022 S6 Lite with the faster processor and it seems pretty good. I also have an S7 plus which is faster but I couldn't beat the Black Friday price for a backup tablet for the wife.
@@Ehh0.0 hey I'm not sure if you should go for the S6 lite for animation. I'm not sure if S6 lite has a 6gb ram ver, but if it does then only go for it. I kinda struggle w the 4gb ram :/
@@xyzabc-nu3vd i ended up getting a huion kamvas 13
Meets all my needs perfectly
Good thing I got my S6 tab lite! Quite affordable, small size perfect por my small hands, it comes with the Spen and overall, I love the chiffon pink color, that other versions don't have. (there's pink gold version on S8 but anyway).I own the 2020 version and still runs perfectly. Hope I can upgrade it to the new 2022 version one day.
Did you get the 64 gb model and if so do you think it's enough storage?
@@KingKevin108 I did, but I think is not enough storage. I bought a 64GB memory card for extra space.
@@Fuzzylactic Oh I didn't even think about having an SD card slot! I'd given up any hope those were still on devices
@@KingKevin108 Just slap a micro sd card in it.
Unless you're planning on downloading every game on the app store you shouldn't have a problem with 64Gb. Maybe don't store pictures and videos on the tablet, a small tip.
Do you ever animate on it? I'm specifically looking for a tablet to run animating (just as a hobby)
I was torn between s6 lite and ipad 8th gen but when I saw you review, I decided to go with the s6 lite. No regrets at all. S6 lite is truly the best budget tablet out there in my opinion. Thank you for your review.
do you use it for animation? That's on of the main things I'm looking for.
@@Ehh0.0 hi. I am just using this tablet mainly for note taking, ebook reading, anotation and digital drawing, and media comsumption. There was one time tho I used this like a laptop (dex mode), like using multiple apps google doc, excel, multiple tabs on browsers, dictionary, google searches.. although it got the work done, it is a bit slower than just by focusing on one app. If you are using your animation app just for hobby and not for professional work, this might be enough but i do not recommend it for professional use like having strict timelines and a lot of multitasking.
@@randomuser7375 ah ok, this would just be a hobby for me. Thank tho, I'll definitely check out some more options
@@Ehh0.0 welcome! All the best on your art projects!
@@randomuser7375 can you import slides when you take notes?
I can't even put into words how much I LOVE my tab s8+, it's absolutely wonderful and while I had some buyers remorse when I first got it, I quickly got over it when I started drawing on it. So smooth, pressure is so nice and the pen feels like writing on an actual pad of paper. 10/10 would definitely recommend.
I got tab 8S and I can agree! It's so amazing and love to draw! And bought infinite painter and it works so well on my tablet!
Me too. Only issue I have is green tint on the gray background. Sent it in and it was fixed but it's creeping back. Overall though I love my tab s8 plus
I'd love it too if I could shat 1000 bucks on a tablet.
@@Daniel-dj7fh damn that sucks buddy
@@mrsbrightside. Yeah
I have the S8 Ultra and find it great for drawing. I also use it as I would any other tablet. So watching movies is a very good experience. Only place where it's not great is also not it's fault. It's when using non tablet optimized apps. Holding this tablet vertically is just not comfortable. But I do blame the app developers here for not giving the option of horizontal use. Overall I find it perfectly portable and have never felt like I wanted a smaller tablet.
I also have a Wacom One pen and use it with my tablets. It's just more comfortable long term. Anything over about 30 min the S-Pen starts to cause cramps.
You can force apps to run in landscape mode. It can adjust it or stretch it as you wish.
I wouldn't say im a beginner artist, more maybe mid...but i am on a tight budget and tbh i got the 6 lite for drawing, coming off of the computer tablets (had both a screen and a non screen tablet) and in my personal opinion i prefer the s6 lite! its so comfortable to use and i absolutely love drawing on it! i never been so motivated to draw so much!
THANK you for answering the animation question. I've been researching for a tablet to primarily help with animating. Hearing the cons makes me understand that I would only be able to use the tablet as an aid tool.
I really enjoy your content Brad, keep it up. I started drawing again, and considering buying a tablet. I will definitely use your guides before buying. Cheers from South Africa
Cheers from South Africa.
Good to have you back. Nice reviews. I enjoy seeing you. The animations are well done. I’d prefer seeing you more frequently.
I absolutely loved a new style of videos with the animated characters!
LOVE your review ( new 2 yourchannel) I especiallyLOVED the Lumberjac's input/inquiries with you!

Actually, the Galaxy Tab A tablets are pretty decent for drawing, as long as you got a good capacitive stylus. The best one for me is the SonarPen. Of course, they're not as good as an actual S Pen or Apple Pencil, but for drawing on a budget, it's alright.
But at that point you might as well go for a cheaper brand 🤷🏾♂️
@@theinktician if you are getting a tablet for more than just drawing on a budget the A line may be appealing due to the displays. Samsung makes some of the best displays on the market. If you want a cheap tablet for media consumption than the A line may be worth it.
I'm currently saving for Tab A8 because I'm still a beginner. Still debating if I should be more patient and buy the cheapest from the S line 🤷
Are they good for animation?
@@lego_minifig cheaper brand like Xiaomi also uses display from Samsung or comparable OLED screen. I don’t see any reason to go for the A.
As someone who only really occasionally does Digital drawing, I think my A7 Lite works perfectly fine for me. Especially because I like doing things, other than drawing on it
Live this vid 👍👍👍 I actually started drawing on Samsung Tab A 9.7 back in 2015 (back then you could get it with the little skinny pens they have in phones) and I haven looked back since. I wish Android apps were a bit better but even that has improved massively in the last few years.
I bought a Samsung Tab A in 2015. I bought the version that came with an S-Pen built right into it. I only used it sparingly because the pen was too small for long sessions and thus I didn't improve my drawings much. When I bought a Staedtler digital pen for Samsung then things then my drawings began to pick up a little bit.
My government just received a new batch of Samsung Tab A7s with S-Pens for university students. I'm jealous(they're full sized pens). The pen made it a much better deal than the Lenovo tablets distributed for teachers several years back. I used mine once and then a squirrel stole it. Probably.
I totally needed this review! So why would it take longer on a tablet to animate? and which desktop is best in your opion? and have you experimented with connecting tablets to desktops to work as a drawing pad or other capability?
Some A tablets actually have stylus but its a bit more expensive than their no stylus ones. I used to use i think it was Galaxy Tab A6 with stylus or something, the stylus was tiny but other stylus were compatibles with it
I think Brad actually did a review on the tablet like 5 years ago
BestBuy just had the Samsung S7+ on sale a couple weeks back. $400.00 OFF!!! Picked it up for $499.99. Keep your eyes peeled friends, and hopefully they'll run another sale like this.
This was brought for my dad who has dyalisis 3 times a week ruclips.net/user/postUgkxhCuDBrUituw2nsXGvNEQnKy8UaTIxd8Y and is regularly admitted to hospital. This has definitely saved him from bordem whilest having his treatment. He’s watched loads of great films and fount himself learning more each day
I'd love to see an accessory video for the Samsung tablet line! I cant seem to fine a good case that doesn't have magnets that effect the screen!
First time watching your videos and, let me say... I LOVED IT! Very funny to watch with the animations and with the storyline with the wrestler and giving the informations and differences of each tablet in a simple way. Just loved it!
think you made mistakes on naming of processeser, s8 line have 8gen 1, fe have 750g or 778g depending on lte model or wifi, 6 lite have exynos or newr version comes with 720g
There are now two s6 lite models. The old one from 2019 and the new one in 2022
No he was actually correct, for the s8 line the SM8450 is the 8 gen 1, for the s7 fe SM7325 is the 778g, he didn't mention that the 5g model of the s7 fe is slower (750g), and I don't think he mentioned the processor of the s6 lite, but yes apparently there's a new one and it's faster than the old one.
@@goblinslayer5404 leaps and bounds than exynos 9611..
@@JeskidoYT OG S6 Lite was from 2020.
Between s6 lite and s6 old. S6 old is way better performance
This is the first video I watch from this channel and the quality is just so amazing I wanna cry. Never clicked the subscribe button so fast
Never having had an Android tablet before I took a leap of faith on the S8 Ultra and I love it - best piece of tech I've had in a long time. For anything other than a quick jot I use a Staedtler Digital Noris stylus (the slim one), it's really like holding a classic pencil. No button on the side, but that's a plus for me as I'm always pressing those buttons by accident. I just stick it in the cup along with my other pens and pencils lol. The Ultra is a genuine laptop replacement for day to day tasks - though not for more intensive/specialized apps as you say.
I love my S8 tablet, however I don't love the UI of Clip Studio or Krita on it. I'm hopeful CSP 2.0 drops the subscription model which (I think) is stopping more people going with CSP and those cluttered UI are more suited to a desktop where you can have a second screen for all the tabs.
Maybe the tablet version of Sketchbook Pro will be more like the desktop version - that would make me happy. I really don't like the prospect of working around the problems in Infinite Painter and I need an App that will really make my S8 take over from my zbook.
You can edit the UI in krita
i love these animated characters for some reason😁...I'd love to hear your thoughts on the huion's new dial2
I was not expecting the animations! But that was really cool. Thanks for this video, I've been waiting for a comparison like this since I heard about the 2022 version of the S6 tablet!
Thanks, Helped me heaps Black Friday shopping.
So helpful! Really on a tight budget, so maybe I'll go with the S6 lite 😁
Great video! I was looking to buy a tablet and needed a clarification on the Tab lineup. Do you think you could give a look on the Lenovo tablet lineup? The p11 and p12 looks like a good deal, but i can't find any review on the stylus...
(It would be cool if you also talk about the usb c and if it has display output, thats kind of important these days...)
Im preety sure the stylus îs not better than S pen
I bought my s6 lite literally 3 months before the 2022 edition was released, pretty bummed about that but even the old one works really well for me, has great performance and a very responsive screen.
Hi Brad, are you going to make a video for the *Samsung Galaxy Z fold 4* too? I'm looking forward to it 😀
I bought tha tab s6 lite 2weeks ago and for drawing and media consumption, it is perfect, and with oneui it is a better option than ipad 9, especially because of bigger screen, actually normal aspect ratio and the spen in the box, which is better than apple pencil (imo)
Hey Brad!
Can I ask you to do another krita or any other drawing program review to see if any are a viable replacement for clipstudio now?
Love this video. And you answered my question immediately concerning the s pen. Thanks 😊
I use Tab S7 FE since last year and it's really good . . . at the right price. I was able to get one on black friday at an irresistible price, and it has been my main drawing platform ever since.
I use medibang and it does struggle a bit at higher resolutions, but if I be reasonable with my resolution (which I rarely do), it is really fun to draw on it and definitely worth being the middle of the road option. The extra screen real estate was something I never knew I needed till I used it.
My only complaint is that at this size, there's no headphone jack? Come on.
I also recently just bought a Huion Kamvas Pro 22 (2019) and I would still prefer to draw on my Tab S7 FE.
what resolutions did your fe struggle at? I'm considering it since the ipads have raised their prices, thanks
@@leonkastilyo7463 A4 size at 350 DPI (2894x4093)
I would also like to stress that by 'a bit', I literally mean just 'a bit'. It is a minor inconvenience at worse, that the Undo is delayed by 0.5ish seconds and sometimes the pen strokes are a little botched. I'm used to drawing on PC with no delays at absurd resolutions, so you might a little bit more reasonable than I am as an artist lol
do you still recommend to buy it for drawing? i am planning to buy s7 fe or should i just keep saving for an ipad ?
@@atsushi77_ Personally, when it comes to buying things in general, I would recommend spending more to get the best one you can get.
But with that being said, just because the iPad is more expensive doesn't necessarily mean it's better. The new iPad does look like a great device for drawing especially with that retina display, but it's best you survey both devices at the store and see which one suits you more.
For drawing in general, I would recommend S7 FE, but comparing it to the new iPad, I can't have a say on that unfortunately.
@@NixonYusa oh thanks well i'm probably not going to be able to buy the new ipads i was just between this and the ipad 9th gen (which is still much more expensive in my country) but i will try both of them out to see it
The regular Tab S7 11 inch is great! Using it for nearly 2,5 years now
ive been using the s4 since release day and its still better than any dedicated drawing tablet ive owned. i plan on upgrading to the s9 when it releases.
Brad, to hide the icons time, wfi and battery in CSP use Dex.
I'm planning on getting the S7 fe. I really want the dual display feature when using it linked with a windows laptop
I used to have the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (Original 2020 Edition, 4GB/64GB), which I bought secondhand from eBay for less than $200 USD in December 2021. About seven months later, in July 2022, I traded it in for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE (6GB/128GB, Wi-Fi only) for a $250 USD discount via the Samsung Trade-in Program. Normally, it cost $599.99 USD, but with the discount, I got the S7 FE for $349.99 USD plus tax.
Did you ever use the S6 for Animation? I'm looking to get a samsung tablet and the s6 seems like a good buy, but I want to make sure.
@@Ehh0.0I once tested Clip Studio Paint’s animation features on the original 2020 version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, and it was laggy. But on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE, the performance was better than on the former tablet. If you have the budget, I’d recommend the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE (Wi-Fi version, 6GB/128GB or 8GB/256GB) over the original 2020 version (or even the 2022 revision) of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite.
Hi, Brad! Hi, Community! I need some help. How do you color calibrate your Samsung tablets? What do you do to have consistent results? Thanks in advance for your time and help.
Loved the animation in this one!
I am still enjoy drawing with my regular Tab S7. It`s not the biggest but you get used to it and it´s awesome to just sit around drawing with it and CSP is so damn good optimized for it that the 20 bucks a year is no problem.
Yeah that's something that wasent mentioned in the video i think, the regular galaxy tab s7 is slightly smaller but performance wise is significantly more capable than the s7 fe and the parallax is non-existant its butter smooth in art flow and clipstudio.
not to mention that right now both tablets can be found for around the same price if you know where to look, the only thing the FE Edition has over the base s7 is that Its a 12.4 inch screen vs an 11 inch SCREEN, and that might seem like a no brainer but Imo performance trumps a bigger screen any day, I own a galaxy note pro 12.2 as well and that screen in huge but the tablet is slow which makes drawing on it a chore.
Brad is an amazing content creator period.
Thanks so much for warning about the 2022 vs 2020 version of the S6 lite. You've saved me a ton of heartache!
I haven't watched this video yet but I think the most current release of Krita works well with the S6 lite. Once I figured out how to optimize Krita for tablets.
Did you ever animate on krita with the s6 lite?
@@Ehh0.0 no, I’m not an animator. I suspect that it might be rough because it is a low powered consumer tablet.
Thanks. That's the main thing I'm looking for so I might have to reconsider my choice of tablet.
I just ordered my s6 lite. I have the big iPad pro 2018. I love it. But putting it on my treadmill. Carrying it to work. Then 9 out of 10 times not use it. I think this s6 lite seems like a cool small tablet. For a doodle here and there. To bring anywhere. It not having that HUGE $1000 plus price tag is awesome too. At this price point, just use it. Don't worry soooo much about treating it like a delicate flower. 🤣 happy holidays!
I just picked one up for the same reason -- just a practice pad for rough sketching. Plus all my other tablets are iPads, I figure this way I can check out what art apps are available for Android...
Something to keep in mind, the s6 lite 2022 ed has a flaw in the display as the edge running along the usb c port has backlight bleed. I have not seen one that does not have it. I have purchased 5 of the things in the last month 2 had clusters of dead pixels, those had backlight bleed along 2 or 3 sides of the display. The other 3 had it only on the one but in varying degrees of intensity. It is most noticeable on medium gray backdrops or colors that span that tonal range. You can even see it in this video where the application's gray menu bleeds off to the right side of the device.
For some it might not be a deal breaker but for me at 400usd after tax and fees it was just not good enough. Really sucks as other options are much more expensive to the point it is cheaper to get a laptop. ALSO do not pay more than 299usd for the s6 lite amazon released at 349 and dropped it a week after to 299. @ 299 I might have kept it.
Sadly the s7 7+ are hard to find at a decent price and the FE is impossible to find in 128gig.
Will a screen protector affect drawing on tablets or screens at all?
I got the s6 lite too it was a fun tablet never an issue with it
same
Cheap
@@michelleg2334 s6 lite is far ftom cheap it'd quality build and for art it's fantastic
Great video , can you do a review for Samsung Tab A series ? Like tab a8 or a7 ?
Used to have Galaxy Tab S7 before switching to iPad Pro 2021 model. I do miss the S-Pen because of how light it is and I don't like how the Apple Pencil tip isn't like the S-Pen.
Thanks Brad! I just need some insight on this models, but i can't decide between a huion kamvas or a tablet for the go anywhere ando draw
I TRULY LOVE MY TAB S7 FE. I'm a college professor, I use for everything, to write, show anatomy and off course study.
I got the s6 lite after watching your video about 2022 s6lite i got it. Its been great just for notes ajd typing assignments. Can u make a video about the s6 lite spen alternatives. Or if staedler noris digital pen nibs can be used on s pens cuz spen nibs are hard to come by.
Good video. Any chance you can revisit the tab s4? It's fairly inexpensive to find in good condition and still has very good specs(amoled screen, snapdragon 835, 4/6gb ram). It no longer gets software updates(except for security ones) and is stuck on android 10 so I've been trying to find out if it performs well enough to be considered as an option or is best to leave it forgotten.
i have it which is why im watching this video. It's stuck one one ui 2 which is missing some key multitasking features and its getting pretty slow, but mine still works perfectly fine so up to you
I am a SHS student and I'm planning to buy a samsung tablet for school purposes (editing, digital drawing, presentations, note taking, etc.). Out of the three, which one would you think is more efficient for me to use?
Just bought the 2022 s6 lite, easy for drawing and note taking, best budget tablet.
Would anyone know which one is more worth buying, the s7 fe or s7+ given that their price are not muhc of a difference but at least the s7+ has super amoled display and 120hz performance?
A lot of People keep forgetting one thing about the Samsung galaxy Tab S8. The S8 comes with GPS receiver and accelerometers already built in, download the Maps and you’re off and running. Excellent for off Roading and sailing navigation. The only way to get GPS on The iPad you have to order it with LTE which of course cost more money.
Finally brad uploaded
Could something like the S6 or S7 along with some of the software examples I've seen in your other videos and some practice of course, give me a high enough quality of image to use in the children's books I'm working on? Cheers for all the info in your videos, I'm getting a lot out of them being very new to this world.
Brad, you should talk about s pen pro and its "ability difference" other than normal s pen
I was almost convinced by the iPad and how should get the air.. but that all came to 800eur(400eur used with no pen).. so black Friday and got an s6 Lite for 200eur..and using Flipaclip with layers and video etc.. no problem.. sketching with "split screen" no problem.. saved money and no pen lag, screen is good, audio great..
Only issue is file transfer between my MacBook and Android..but for now just learning digital art etc.. awesome.. so ya.. Happy with my purchase!!
If Your rich, go for iPad but Van Gogh had just a little old sketch book and charcoal stick.. ;-)
I'm still running a Galaxy Tab S6 for both some gaming and doing some drawing so I'm kinda fine with it.
I still use my galaxy tab S3 for drawing and stuff. No complaints says from Samsung slowing it down with every OS update. Have to reinstall the original stock OS every now and then for top performance.
Just wondering, do you offer illustration-for-hire? For like children's books or comic book/graphic novels?
If you don't, you should. You're pretty good at it.
On another note: You recommended desktops over tablets for animation. What about workstations or high end laptops in general? Wouldn't they suffice?
I just need one to take notes, but I'd like a somewhat wide screen to do so. I'll probably get the S7 FE.
would the spen of the s6 lite work with the other models? since that pern doesnt need charging imo its more conviniant
GREAT VIDEO BOTH VERY FUNNY AND VERY INFORMATIVE.
Your artstyle is great !
You really nail the cartoony look
Thanks man.. I think I'll buy the S6 Lite 2022 for start drawing.
I'll def refer my cx to you for info. Solidarity as a BB employer. Appreciate the content!
I use the Wacom One pen in my Samsung tablet (Tab A Spen 2019) and it works perfectly
I have some questions. First is the app ''clip studio'' for free? (on the S6?). Second if I want a keyboard cover for the S6, which one should I buy? Do you have any reconmendations? Last is the S6 usable for school stuf like powerpoint, word and teams especially working together on the same document on teams? (like when everyone in on their own device).
But we really need photoshop or illustrator or atleast the affinity suite for editing and creating more professional art and design. And layer style is something i really want in a photo or radter editing software
Thanks for the video ! Please do a review on Samsung galaxy s22 ultra with s-pen

On the animation side, even if the s6 lite (or any android tablet) is not a good platform for animation, there are apps that turns these tablets into drawing tablets that connect to a windows pc. I tried it once with my dad's Note 20 ultra.
I just go the s6 lite 2022 but this video made me feel better
What is the software he is using in the videos? When he was covering the S6 Lite?
