Giant 60 Pound King Salmon Almost Knocks Guy in Water

- Giant King Salmon, also known as massive Chinook Salmon, Huge Spring Salmon and sometimes just scary man-eating monsters but only when they get to gigantic sizes as showcased in this video.
Chinook Salmon are 1 of 5 species of pacific salmon found off the west coast of Canada and the USA. They live the longest (up to 10years) and grow the largest (over 100 pounds).
Where it used to be common practice to keep the big ones as trophies due to conservation it has now become the norm to release the larger fish to preserve diversity in the genetic pool. The chances of fish reaching large sizes are a lot less then the same fish reaching smaller sizes as they are up against no shortage of challenges.
Unfortunately sometimes during the hook up and the fight the fish can get injured to the point where it would likely die anyways in which case food is the other alternative.
www.captainquin...
I been fishing these king/Chinook for 27 years, not 60 pounds, maybe 30-35 pounds most.
One of these pulled our boat around!
Happy 30th anniversary XD
Yeah deff not 60
I agree, still a great catch.
Great fish in the 30+ pound class!
"Smack him one."
*proceeds to beat the shit out of it*
😂😂
As soon as I said aloud knock him out lol he proceeded to whip him hahah
“Where’s my money, man?” -Stewart Gilligan Griffin
Lmao
35lb fish right there. Must be tradition to exaggerate everything by 30lbs? Lol smh
Not even that's a good 28 - 32
Not even brah that's a 5lb
Lol definitely not 5 lbs brassiere
Ryan Bruneau by 30 lb huh? In that case........YO i caught this massive 30.2 lb bluegill yesterday.....
not even that big lol...
First time on a drift boat . When I moved to Pompano Bch. Florida. I caught a 52 lb.wahoo. It was 6 ft. long and took One and a half hour's to gaff. And get in the boat. I was 13 yrs. old. Junior class record. A day with my father and oldest brother I will never forget. Both have passed on now. Man what a day!!
6ft long and only 52 would be one weird shaped Wahoo my man. I Damn sure believe ya on the 52lbs though and on a driftboat it had to be a cluster!!! Blue Heron fleet???? Generally Wahoos in the 50 pound class are in that 50 to 55 inch range
@@davewylie654the weight of the fish I know is right. The length I was estimating. From the pictures they took at the dock of the Helen S. the fish looked as long as my father and he was 6 ft. even.
I've only gotten a couple of 30 pounders in my Michigan fishing career. That one didn't have much on the length of my biggest, but its girth was tremendous. I'm going to defer to the good captain on the actual weight of that monster. Either way, awesome video and expertly netted.
How many 30's have you caught in michigan?? I hear it all the time. Very busy charterboat and have caught two in twenty years
@@davewylie654 when I caught that 52 lb. wahoo. There was a 85 yr. old gentlemen told me he had fished his whole life to catch a wahoo. I told him it was just beginners luck. It was my first time on a drift boat.
@@rapidtransit8373I once caught a sperm whale on a crappie rod with 2lb test.. spooled me at 8000 ft deep but hey I still got my quarter ounce rattle trap back.. sperm whales usually prefer the googan crackn craw though.. it’s the salt that entices them
the fishes youtube channel: I ALMOST LANDED A 250 POUND RANDOM DUDE
or better: GIANT 250 POUND HUMAN ALMOST PULLS FISH INTO AIR!
That guy cant lift 60 lbs even if he wanted to. Lol
Thor went fishing?
Mithun Karmakar lol
about to type that
Th
Click bait I just got jacked
Mithun Karmakar and he got wet lol
No where near 60 lbs Captain, but that looks like an intense river to Fish
I’ve seen a 63 pounder hanging on a scale at the dock. It was 5 feet long and you weren’t picking it up with one arm.
Nice fish though. Probably 36 lbs female ready to spawn in the river you fishing.
I once caught a 20lb smelt
Noob i've caught a 90 pound perch
@@gingsta4203 damn pretty huge perch
I can’t even say that looks more then 30lbs. Nice catch but come on. Haha 🤣
Captain Quinn where is your life jacket?.Shorts,no shoes and no personal flotation device on a deep fast flowing river like the Skeena is asking for trouble.
William Robinson Very good point-we started out fighting that fish on shore then after 40 minutes got picked up by that boat, the boat wasn't part of the plan-still we should have had life jackets-your right, we wont let it happen again.
+Captain Quinn --Aye Aye Cap'em. Rarrrr
Nice 35er !..definitely not 60!!
Moto-B maybe 40
Ahhh the good old days when you could bonk a skeena chinook. Hope they make a comeback soon...
60 pound man eating salmon? A 60 pound salmon is at least 52 to 54 inches long. This fish was likely 48 inches and weighed about 40 pounds. The drama makes for good click bait.
Dude in white shirt, how the hell are you not freezing in that frigid cold windy place?
Whats "cold" when its all ya know lol
Who said he isnt 🤣
The rush of catching a monster King is incredible. I caught a 77lb on the Kenai, back when I was fourteen.
I am curious why you all didn't smack it before you brought it in the boat. Was it not far enough in the net to risk it? Those things are strong enough to clear the entire boat, when they flail.
Great catch, ya'll!!!
Not 60 lbs for sure, but a mighty big fish. We just had a new Michigan state record caught in Lake Michigan . It was 44 lbs and looked lots bigger
Because it was bigger by quite a bit
I caught a big ass Chinook in the Green River, wy back in the late 60's. It was about 60---70lbs. A couple of my fishing buddies and I so one big king that was three to four times bigger than any other fish in the hole we fishing in. When we first saw it we all jumped back because we thought it was a shark. Of course sharks aren't in fresh water. But anyway, that fish we figured it probably weight in at at least 110----140 lbs. We all thought about all of us snagging into it and try pulling it in . But that would have been illegal. Before the 70's ,there use to be alot of big salmon in the Green River, in Wasgington State. 25 lber is a big fish now. I stopped fishing for salmon 10years ago. I've been thinking about getting back into it again. Maybe!!!!!!!
I think I need glasses.
Don't see 60 pounds salmon there.
🤔🤔🤔
I had been fishing in Norway for 6 years, Atlantic Salmons in rivers. This fish has no more than 30 pounds.
Atlantic salmon honestly kinda suck compared to what we have in the pacific northwest
@@peytonbouma4395 ok
That fish was at least 45 lbs. The fish are much bigger here, caught a 57 lbs spring this year. Atlantic salmon are smaller than our rainbow trout here...
@@zak526
Atlantic Salmon range from 3-15lbs usually. The UK record was 64lb. Atlantic Salmon are definitely a lot bigger than rainbow trout. You might be thinking of the landlocked Atlantic Salmon which are obviously going to be a lot smaller than the usual anadromous ones.
@@aaronwilliamwallace ya rainbows here are between 2-45 lbs depending on their lifecycle. Wouldn't imagine you have much experience with a 45+ lb salmon. That one definitely is.
Now thats what i call a fish! Good catch. glad the camera battery held out!
That`s no 60 lbs. who typed that title what a goof.
Bryan Porrelli Hahahahaha, your right but you should also know that fishermen have a tendency to exaggerate...it was 70! :)
10 - 4. If you`re gonna fish u better learn how to tell big fish tales. Still bigger than my record though, a 25 lb. Chinook (King) off Nanaimo, BC..
+Captain Quinn would u like to start making money of this vids if so message me
Captain Quinn --I tell yea boi :D it was the size of 3 grown men and weigh'd about a Ton... A beast she was. #FisherMenStories
thats 17pounds max
Dear quinn...ur fishing..water..wind. fish..weather..every thing is awesome.. nice video
Dr raza Pakistan
Its funny how everyone is saying around 35 lbs. That is exactly the weight I thought of when I saw it lol. Real fishermen see the truth!
its really horrifying to look at when the man is fricking smacking it with a STICK
So much for releasing a trophy for diversity .
I have landed 1 60lb king in my life time and that is no where near 60 like Ryan commented 35ish but still a fairly clean and nice fish from the looks of it gratz.
Definitely not 60lbs. we get max 18-20 lbs fish in lake Michigan these days they're slightly smaller than that one, not as wide top to bottom. that's probably 20-30lbs. max
That thing looks like it's lbs 20 , not lbs 60.
Thor is fishing!!😂😂
I hooked a 54.5 pounder in Bamfield 30 years ago. I'm also probably the only person alive who hooked a sockeye and a halibut double header.
I caught bigger and it's no where near 50s or 60s. Best bet around 30s only.
20lb max
wtf you guys talking about. thats clearly a 50 lb easy fish. should have went back.in
World record ( Caught ) is 97 # in The Kenai River, Alaska. The river draws a number of Kings over 70 pounds. I lived in Alaska and fished in King Salmon Alaska. A big one there would be 40#. I dont think this fish was 60. I caught one in the Kenai that was 50 but not really because it was the Guides 50. The Kenai Kings stay in the ocean ( Feeding like Pigs ) 1 to 2 years longer than other bodies of water. The reason is complicated.
Wasn’t even close to 60 lol
Agree. defiantly not 60 lbs. my biggest salmon was 33 lbs. fishing them 6 years. people know this stuff
60 pounds lol, iv been fishing these for 18 years, 30 pounds max
Something that’s funny as fuck, my grandpa and I were fishing, and he told me “when I was your age my grandpa took me to this same spot and I caught a 60 pound salmon, can you believe it?” Then a little while later when we were about to get back to shore, a big ass 60 pound salmon got caught on my line and we reeled it in, I shit you not, exact same as the photo my grandpa showed me.
100 years ago that would have been nothing special! Look how far down we've come!
Donald Howard ain't that the truth
@@tylergarrison3848 Remember when those fish were called babies?
Because we keep all of the large ones like this and they cant pass on their genes. Sad
i didnt know they had fishing boats like that! no wonder they where catching bigger ones
I love how every comment is just calling this guy out
When you just want to watch the guys fishing and a ad just ruins your day..
Nice looking 20lbs fish guys. I fish nothing but salmons for over 25 yrs! You bunch kiddos! No one here is dumb!
I got here from braver wilderness🤔🤔🤔
lol yeah on my on next
Agent Muffins i
Love the sound of snapping rods when stepping back into the boat.
48 maybe 49 pounds.
Nice one Quinny. What's your next adventure? Andysfishing
You know it’s getting serious when the hat comes off
I'm a pro fisherman and have caught salmon, Sharks, and grouper for 20 years that's a 400 pound fish
No it’s not
That's a really nice 40 pounder! Haha
60# my ass!! That fish was maybe 25#. I fish for salmon all the time and we catch bigger ones than that in Lake Michigan.
Michigan State Record is 46# set in 2019. Have another Beer.
My late next door neighbor caught a 66lb. King Salmon off the coast of Washington in the early 60's and he showed me a pic. of it and it came up to his chest from his feet so his fished looked 3 x's the sz of this salmon in this vid, but still a nice catch dude!
Que peixe sensacional abraço do seu amigo aqui do Amazonas Brasil
Thor?!! Its that you? 😂😂
That guy laughing like a maniac should laugh at the fact the fish is barely 40-45 pounds NOT 60 💀👁️👁️👁️😏
He must be 60 inches long!!! Oh, you mean we're not DOUBLING all our numbers??? ; )
60 lbs ha ha ha seriously no wonder they say fisherman tell tall tales.
Weight (lbs.) = length (in.) x girth (in.) x girth (in.) / 740
Example :Weight = (52 x 30.5 x 30.5) / 740 = (48,373) / 740 = 65.37 lbs.
Based on what I can see that fish is less than 30 lbs.
5 pounds tops...
30 lbs maybe, and if that hippie held his net in the water on my fish, I would make sure he fell in!
i wish i live There..
so blesss to get salmon for free..
Yogie Boncu as opposed to what?
I gotta say being the net guy is a hard job! Your the only one buzzed enough to tackle the giant
40lbs maximum
kinda sad how small they have gotten over the years, as kids in kenai a 100 lb one was the norm. often took 3 or 4 of us kids to haul one into shore.
thats a 30 lbs fish, and a real angler would have took a pic and put that back in the water, the smaller ones are better for eating, let him go its a 5 year fish
Yeah your right totally clueless of your talking about guess I shouldn't be part of a steelheaders board in Michigan. Could you tell me how much more the fish could have produced compared to a 3 year old fish? So why not let them all go if we are tring to maintain or build a better fishery. Bottom line some people don't care the age of the fish they are feeding their families. Some do it for sport some to eat, but if you'd let them all go eventually the fish won't have food and then you wouldn't catch trophies like this guy has.
There is a positive correlation with the size of the salmon and the amount / quality of the eggs. The bigger the fish the more eggs it puts out and often those eggs will be larger and thus have a better shot at surviving until their first feeding. Feel free to look it up on your own time if you want.
As for your last line of wisdom, most of the pacific salmon runs (with exception of some in BC and AK) are no where near carrying capacity so worrying about there being so many salmon that they are going to start competing too much for availabe food is ridiculous. Take the Columbia River for example, it used to have absolute monster kings it it (100+lbs) before the industrial revolution. I'm pretty sure those fish weren't suffering too much from a lack of fisherman. hahaha
lol says hes part of the steelheaders msg board in michigan so he knows what hes talking about or else the forum page wouldnt accept him as a free member, still trying to figure out tho if everyone let fish go and kept none how it eventually lead to the fishes extinction cause there would be no food left for them to eat lol? i dont get it, pretty much saying wildlife would be doomed with out humans hunting / taking from it, that is the stupidest thing ive ever heard in my life i think ok top 5
jay r why so It can die because it has spawned and reached the end of its life cycle?
jay r lol I don't sell fish. Lol I catch and release smart guy😂😂😂
As a salmon tender here in Alaska, we see 100s of thousands of pounds of salmon a year. That being said, guts in, that fish doesn't break 25 lbs.
You are an idiot maybe it's not 60 but it's definitely not 25
Columbia fisherman here I catch 30 pounders every night and they're not as big as this hog
This is exactly why ever true fisherman would carry a scale. That fish might be 40 lbs at the most. Very nice fish though
The best fisherman are usually the best at telling "fish stories" lol
if you ever saw a 100lb king, you would never forget it, the fight is incredible and taste on riverbank over a fire isn't to be had anymore. just these small ones, that one isn't 60 lbs either.
60 lbs my ass
Nice fish :) I just landed a 39" (buck) and 33" (female) king this week, and if you ask me they were 45lbs and 30 lbs respectively, buuuuuut if you ask my scale, it disagrees showing 20lbs and 16lbs respectively
man this comment aged like fine milk. landed a 38" girl this week weighing 22 lbs just yesterday
after that fish went and killed all your butts at least throw it back
Are you stupid? He fought that fish for so long do you not see the bursted blood vessels in its belly? It would've died off like 10 mins later. That fish fought hard and wouldn't have had the strength to go back
good choice then.
Plus people eat salmon, thats good money right there
After 30 plus minutes of fighting I doubt that fish would live
You people do realize that fish has reached the end of its life cycle right. If they put it back I would just die in 2 weeks anyway
This is why king salmons going of from nature.
I don't know why they dislike this video..
Crazy part is it looks like your running a 15 pound line!
Regardless of the actual weight it will fit in my smoker.
What a catch!!! I wish I could get fish like that but the ol' wife is keepin me at home, you know what I mean brother
that's a 25 lb fish.
you must not fish at all huh?
let me guess... you do right? don't worry bout if i do or don't. worry about your fucken self
U can clearly see in the video that the fish is no bigger then 25 pounds so its facts.
I'm in full agreement with you. I have caught kings bigger than that that only weighed 25lbs.
Patchy Pirate 🖕🏻
Why would so many not like this video? It's a short video of someone catching a remarkable fish.
The 60 pound claim makes people dislike it. That fish wasn't 40 much less 60
Captain Quinn, you don't have to hit it in the head to kill, it's just cruel. But it in ice, it's painless to the fish.
Ehm you are actually pretty wrong about that, if you put it in ice it''ll just asphyxiate to death, a quick blow to the brain kills it instantly and is much more humane...
Tell us more about how much you like to talk about things you don't have a clue about.
EmeraldDude What? You sir are an idiot.
"Gonna need a bigger boat chief". 60# my ass
who cares......let the fish live-
justin rowlette it would have died either way salmon die after they spawn
I'll bet you less than 5 percent of the people who post shit like this are even vegans. And then 5 percent of those people are vegans who grow their own diet in their backyard. So the reality is this: Almost everyone who writes things on the internet about not killing animals actively drives a car around buying dead animals to eat, or pays an 18 wheeler to bring in their vegetables from South America and then that diesel fuel melts polar bear's homes, and then those trucks hit plenty of deer, squirrels, rabbits, and everything else you can think of on the drive all the way to your local grocery store. Feel free to reply Justin, prove me right yet again.

i catch kings 40 to 80 lbs in lake michigan and by the way your net man sucks he missed the king his first try that is sad and that is anywhere from 30 to 45 lbs that is not 60 lbs
did you know that there are sturgeon in lake michigan ? better check the weight of them

80 lbs in LM..you are high!!
+Angela Robison HAHAHA ROFLMFAO!! There are no 80 pound fish in that lake!! And on top of that your like 12 years old.

+Reynir Valsson Hahahahahah! Close to it anyways-your right!
+Reynir Valsson You obviously don't have a sense of measurement, whatsoever..30 to 35 pounds max. Still a great catch....
+Reynir Valsson *Nope. 30-35 pounds. and I know this as I used to O/O a salmon and trout fishing charter boat.
It can easily be 60 pounds...if the fish has swallowed 20-30 pounds of rocks
Reynir Valsson you're obviously not a fisherman.
Agree visually 25 to 30lbs salmon ? Nice fish though , heavier ones are way deeper.
I don't get why all these people are referencing Lake Michigan, this isn't lake Michigan. If you ever fished in Alaska, you would know, but its clear most people on these comments have not.
60 pounds?? That fish must have had 25 or 30 pounds of weights in his belly to be 60 pounds.
Caught 68 pound King Salmon in 95 on the Keni. River in Alaska with King James Guide Service
Better headline for you: Big 30 Pound Salmon Gets Knocked Out Of Water.
That's no 60 pounds!!! Maximum 32! I call B's!!!! LMAO
I commented before I read comments. I see my weight estimate is accurate. Thanks to all of you honest fisherman for weighing in.
Nice 40-45 pound fish
Ive caught a few 30 lb springs and this unit is significantly bigger
Did you hear about the commercial troller last year in NorCal who caught a 50-60 lb. bright King and sold it at auction, (to a Japanese market), for, like $2500.00? One fish!
Killing a fish that size (never 60 pounds, more like 30) shows complete disrespect for conservation, and fishing in general. You should be ashamed of yourself, giving the angling community a very, very bad name.
100 years ago anyone can buy a rod and reel it make in a garage and anyone use agressive soap only sheet in the river and fish grow
Well that was the most nonsensical sentence I've ever read.
I'm guessing around 40lbs, looks bout the same size as the grass carp I caught a few years ago, 3½ foot 40.3lbs
