I went deep-sea fishing in Hawaii last year for fun. Not really expecting to catch anything. Only been fishing one time prior to this I was very excited when we caught a blue marlin. I had no idea what I was in for. Having no real experience or technique it took me about 40 minutes to reel in the 10 foot 300 pound beast. (Apparently that’s the about the size of a full grown male). It was really hard and I was completely exhausted. I have always loved and respected animals but regardless I still managed to gain a huge amount of respect for this animal. It was impossible not to be in awe watching it shoot in and out of the water. The sheer power of the thing.
Unfortunately one of the hooks was stuck in the fishes eye so we had to put him down. Sad but I got my photo op. Such a beautiful animal.
I had no idea that the tip of the nose was covered in these little razor sharp spikes. Cut my leg up pretty good just grazing the thing.

He needed his dad's larger truck to pull it out of the water because his half tonne couldn't do it. I've never found any other mention of this anywhere, including National Geographic.

So do most of.the world when that's all there is available. You need to remember that little fact. Highly unfair pointing and blaming one. When we have no proof of this. You cannot lay blame on one when ALL are involved. Yes, even your own country are guilty of this also. Imagine if it were you?

Pretty bad list, these are big fish but I can name specimens for all but the Mekong Giant Catfish that are larger. For example the blue marlin. One was caught in SA (I believe Peru, but I could be wrong) that was 1000kg (2200 lbs), much larger than the one in the video

DevilsNachoz I normally release big fish more often just because when they are big they spawn more so I’m like well idk if it’s gonna spawn soon so I should probably just let it go. On the other hand, if I know it recently let go of all it’s babies, I would keep it because size is most of the time a good indicator of age and if they’re old then I’ll keep them because they are about to die anyways.
