A point to ponder is why fish and mammals grow much larger in the Alaska/Canadian North than do the same species in the south in spite of the long, dark sub zero winters. To date I have never heard a theory of any substance to explain why this occurs. There are many unproven theories such as the cause is Sub Arctic intense, long day sumner sun light followed by months of darkness to its due to better nutrients in the flora and fauna. To date none of tbe current hypothesis hold up under careful examination. So, if the Kiwis figure why their fish grow so large in certain areas let us know and it may help us figure out our puzzle. If we can figure it out what makes our fish, resident birds, deer, lynx etc to grow so quickly large we might be able to make a buck by freezing whatever it is and shipping it South to the fair weather lands so they can give their little fish a boost.😉 Tight lines, Innuvik, NWT. Ps Record 102 l Lake Trout caught in Carcross BC Canada. Last time I was there it was mounted in the lo by of the local hotel.
I dont know, unless that fish ate 10+lbs of lead weights I dont see how that could possibly be 37lbs. Its a nice catch but I would be surprised if it was over 27lbs. I am comparing it to kings though, so it is a really nice brown. The biggest Ive caught was about 15lbs.
I can tell you now that it's the salmon pellets. They pump the salmon with growth hormones to get to size quicker through their pellets. They also use dye to give the flesh pink colour. The huge amount of snails is thanks to the amount of fish and pellet waste on the bottom. These trout are captive and stocked so any talk of records aren't really legitimate. Next weeks episode is literally shooting fish in a barrel

I've seen trout that big come from Lake Ontario.
that is one hell of a big trout i have seen a forty pound rainbow but that was someone's pet
Now go fish it at night... You will find your missing 5lbs.
i think he misspoke and meant 5 k.. not 5 pounds off the world record
Newzealand is not Germany, you have this great nature and wild trouts and we have streetfishing in the city, it's great too see this big wild trouts and i'm totaly jealous!
with fishing of this quality on these waters why is there not fisherman all around you trying to catch these trophy size trout.?
Nice brownie . Not worlds largest. Little red river MONSTER brown
You fish the Little Red?
Did you see the 38lb brown that was caught out of the White about 3-4yrs ago?
Just down the road from my house. Those trophy fish are tough to talk into the boat.
Just catching the sculpins for bait is tedious enough. I prefer chasing the 5-6 lb Rainbows. If you're not from Arkansas come see us we'll leave the gate open....

If we can figure it out what makes our fish, resident birds, deer, lynx etc to grow so quickly large we might be able to make a buck by freezing whatever it is and shipping it South to the fair weather lands so they can give their little fish a boost.😉

Ps Record 102 l Lake Trout caught in Carcross BC Canada. Last time I was there it was mounted in the lo by of the local hotel.
Trout is thinking Ken VanDammit
For some reason the fish seems to be very Lethargic. Low oxygen levels or PH could be a problem from the Dam. Just a thought
S GRIFF they eat farm
Pellets from fish farms. Super high fat diet. Basically a diabetic fish. Lol
@@MatanuskaHIGH they are completely wild, mostly feed on freshwater snails and smaller fish
Great catch!! Well worthy trip.
Next weeks episode is literally shooting fish in a barrel
you really have no clue
they are completely wild, mostly feed on freshwater snails and smaller fish
There's videos of a old hatchery for rainbows got damaged n they ecaped into this monster lake system in Canada I forget the name its been yes since saw it but iktge makes are invite only private they were mid to high 40s n the lakes naturally have huge Brooke's they got some of them also
We can do it on a single hook barbless fly, you need treble hooks and lures. Good work
